I was sooo skeptical as nothing had worked before. I just sat slumped after DAYS of trying to fix my 3 mics. All three were working just fine days ago and then suddenly, after finishing a facebook chat, they all stopped working ONLY on virtual chat and chrome sites like zoom, voice recorders online, etc. The mics still worked on my laptop voice reorder so I knew it wasn't a hardware issue. I tried the literal first step of going to the settings and turning "allow desktop apps to access your microphone" and they all suddenly could use the mic! I never even knew this place existed! Why would the computer change this setting! Is this a normal thing to happen? I almost threw my mics away thinking they were the cause somehow. Thanks so much dude. You got a like from me.

hello, I recently bought a no-brand BM820 microphone from and I have an Asus Vivobook S15 S531FL laptop and I plugged it into one of my USB 2.0 ports, it currently is powered on because I can see the mute button glowing blue for on and red for mute, I did multiple tutorials on CZcams and failed every single time, rolling back and reinstalling drivers, fidgeting with the control panel and device manager, etc.
Honorable mention that worked for me when all else failed: Switch USB ports. For whatever reason there's a USB port on my mobo that absolutely hates everything I plug into it. I almost leveled my house trying to figure out why the gain light blinks on my mic, confirming that it's picking up audio, but windows would not recognize the device. Try that if none of these work for you.
Fixed my problem go to Bluetooth settings remove your mic unplug and replug your mic then u will get a notification saying we are setting up your device click on it and wait for it to show up and boom it’s fixed

Dell Laptop , windows 10... Blue yetti is installed and working through the laptop usb port. However when the mike is plugged in, the audio dies. Have checked settings, they are correct for mike default, and speaker default. Why is the Mike killing the sound?

Unfortunately none of these things helped my situation. My computer will not even recognize either of my USB mics when I plug them in. Neither mic show up in sounds, nor in device manger, nor in sound settings. It's as if the mic is not plugged in at all but are actually plugged snuggly in to working USB ports. I tried several different USB ports on my computer that other devices work just fine in, and tried both mics on my other computer, they both worked just fine on the other computer as well so I know the mics are working. I have tried everything I can think of short of reinstalling Windows, I am stumped.

plz help. I have a "XO lavalier mic". When i plug it into my pc it gets detected but is not taking any input. When i try to test voice in discord or sound recorder only "static type jittery" sound is heard in the recording. I have a Blue Yeti X and this does not work for me. My problem is that after some time after I start my PC the system stops recognizing that my microphone is connected. I have not unplug the mic but the system does not see that the mic is connected. The only fix that I can find (temporary) is to unplug and plug again the mic and it comes back. The problem is that I play a lot of games and once I disconnect my mic and connect back my mic while the game is running it does not get recognised and my only option is to restart the game, making awkward moments sometimes. The mic can "stop working" (I say in " " because the mic it still receiving power) can happen every 5 minutes or every 3 hours. Very unreliable. How can I fix this?

Hi! I followed all of your instructions. Windows is saying that the device is working properly. But in the sound control panel>recording list, there is a red arrow beside the external microphone and it says "unplugged". My usb port is working fine, the mic light is on showing that it is plugged. I don't understand why it says "unplugged". It isn't recording anything!

My mic doesn't work when plugged into certain specific USB ports. The computer detects the microphone, not the sound, when plugged in the specific USB ports. Everything else when plugged in those ports works flawlessly. Any idea what error that may be?
