I have been looking for a whole house filter after there was a small pebble that destroyed the cartridge in the shower valve.

Great production. Show a filter change and how wet/messy that can be? On ours, we have a square trash can below the filter set. That way, the dripping housings and spent filters can splash down into the trash.

I HIGHLY unrecommend clear filter canisters. They grow algae & "biofilms" that aggravate the filtration process. Opaque is better.
Other than that, nice project. Most U.S. municipal water providers put out very high quality water but well water can suck sand at times. What does come in muni water are the chemical treatments that can be removed by the carbon block filter. In Mexico, the muni supplier I have leaves sand & silt in the water that you don't notice until you pull the tank lid & see the sludge at the bottom. I use a 1 micron primary filler then 1/2 micron carbon block that picks up most viruses & virtually all bacteria.
