    I love the massive pillow on the G IV

    Would be cool to see a comparison between the pro and senior version of each line. While my ego says pro, senior is probably more than enough for beer league..

      I would love to do tests like that, but usually that would mean I would have to buy both sets in able to look at them. So unfortunately that won't be happening unless companies send me both to take a look at.

    If you had to choose Brian's or Warriors....which path will you follow?

    Just went from G IV to V we will see how it goes. Not sure how I’m going to like a more shallow well because I’ve heard of issues with these pads shifting due to this. Have you heard of goalies experiencing increased pad shifting with the more shallow skate well?

      I haven't heard issues or had issues with it really. I find a lot of goalies try and strap the same way (professor strap or Lundy Loop) and keep the same size pad as before. The combination tends to lead to issues.

    Love the reviews, I'm looking at upgrading my Genetik 4's now and am a little torn between going into a 5 or a Max core Optik 3 ( skinned to match Genetik Gloves) I've watched a few of your reviews now and was wondering what your outright opinion would be with a few things. I prefer a bigger rebound but I've been using softer pads forever and its less of a concern as mobility and slide ability.
    Would you consider one to be much more mobile than than the other in butterfly and/or general movements?
    Having used both, how did you find the 4 compared to the 5's in terms of feelings with the Genetik?
    Overall would you suggest an Optik or Genetik?

      So... GNetik will be refreshed this year, and I haven't been able to touch a set of Optik 3s... So everything I say here will be based on the previous sets.
      I don't feel like these 2 lines of pads play MASSIVELY different. You could see me use both pads in clips here and it was pretty easy to do. But, I also don't really have issues using different types of gear and I enjoy stiff pads where other people hate them.
      I think the GNetik 5 was almost a perfect evolution of the GNetik line, they stiffened the thigh to be better for durability and thigh rise shots, but didn't really alter anything below the knee so it is a pretty solid "best of both worlds" thing.
      I think, when making your decision you should look at a few things (and try them on if you can!). Optik Max core has a different shape than the GNetik line does, so that should also be a big factor in which core and pad to choose as well. I don't like the more aggressive shape the Max core has. Below the knee on the Optik also plays boxier and stiffer than the GNetik does, and it is noticeable in RVH and plays around the post.
      I generally don't like giving blanket "go for these" because you have to figure out which features you prefer more over another, and often things that lead to my preferences don't align with what yours will be.
      But I hope this was helpful in some way!

    there’s no store carrying Brian’s near me or else i would totally go try them on. I wear a 30”+1 in bauer/ccm, should i go with a 29” for the bauer gnetik? My atk is 14.5-15”. Thx! Great video btw very helpful.

      All I can say is go by Brian's fit guide on there site and use that as a starting point.

      Don't go by my sizing, just enter your FTK in with the companies size guide.

    do you love your True skates? interesting that the sliding material is not as good on the Brians. I know i love the Vaughn "quickslide" and would never buy pads without a sliding material

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  Před 2 lety

      I am not in love with my True skates, but I haven't had a custom pair from another brand so I can't really compare them in comfort to anything else.
      Vaughn has a coating on their material that slides better than Brian's. But Brian's is still the 3rd best sliding on the market so it is still good.

    So I’m looking too by optik 2s but do you think I should by the gnetik 5 instead

    • @nickkitzan5806
      @nickkitzan5806 Před 2 lety
