    Huge thanks to Just Hockey for making this comparison review possible! Without there help I wouldn't have been able to put these 2 fantastic chest side by side! Make sure you check out just hockey here (affiliate link) alnk.to/1C6Oit9 to support the channel and to show them helping me is worth while!
    Lots of people say I have something against CCM, specifically their goalie department. If that we the case I wouldn't be as excited for this chest as I am. It is always more enjoyable making videos on equipment you enjoy!

    Great overview, I was looking forward to seeing you post a video on the new CCM Pro. I was planning on getting this unit soon and this definitely helped solidify my decision to do so.

    ccm hpg 12, 14 pro return pants are the best hands down. fingers crossed their chesty matches that

      True. I love the hpg pants. They just fit well and you know the protection is there.

    I got the older pro unit and I love it. Considering going new unit because like you said it’s destroyed (fit 1 pro unit is hard to find - I’m only 6 ft tall). But man I love how broken in my pro unit is, not sure the new retail can match that

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  Před 16 dny

      Just Hockey has the Fit 1 in stock ;). But, I noticed no real difference on the arms between the new version and my older one. When I put the Fit 3 on it felt almost identical for movement compared to my AB18 Fit 3

    • @n0blenetminder
      @n0blenetminder Před 16 dny

      Also was shocked with the size of the fit 1… I’m normally in a medium Bauer that is on the small side and the ab18 fit 1 is very very large.

    So I don’t understand why they only add d30 just to the heart guard. Why not add it to the arms stomach and shoulders?

      its a very expensive material

    • @HockeyReviews

      And ends up being pretty heavy as well compared to the foams they are using

  • @macmasks

    Dude. I always assumed the D30 heart guard was fully D30. Seems a little on the shady side.

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  Před 18 dny

      That has honestly been a thing for a bit now where it makes you think there is more D3O than what is actually used.
      For the heart guard though, I comment on it in the video but I will say it again. The foam they are using around the D3O is probably more protective than that D3O piece would be, so I wouldn't mind them just going all out on that and taking the D3O out completely.

    Do you know if you can get a beefed up verson in a custom sections, kind of like the baure hyperlight chest protector has ?

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  Před 18 dny

      There is no custom unit in this chest, but you also don't have to beef any parts of this since it's already beefier than the custom beefed Bauer versions.
      The whole point of this piece is it is exactly the model NHL goalies are getting with the maximum protection they offer.

      If you were to compare this to the Warrior Ritual X4 Pro+ Senior Chest & Arm Protector , wich one offers more size and protection ? Is the warrior kid of a blend of both ?

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  Před 17 dny

      Warrior is bigger in the shoulders and arms. Overall protection the CCM is better. The body and shoulders the CCM is more protective while the Warrior has pretty comparable arms to the CCM

  • @BonesDT
    @BonesDT Před 18 dny +1

    I don’t get it. Why do non-pros want pro spec beefed up gear? I’m sure pros would dream to wear lighter and thinner gear if they were facing 75mph vs 100+mph. Im always struggling to find thinner padded gear that doesn’t completely expose major areas.

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  Před 18 dny +2

      NHL wrist and snap shots are clocked from 70-80mph, there are a lot of people outside of the NHL who can hit those speeds.
      Players playing in Junior B and A leagues would benefit massively from these and there is a reason any serious hockey store has been ordering their own "spec" version that are beefed arms and floaters. You see it all the time with Bauer chests.
      This chest isn't really restricting much movement.

    • @TheLegendOfLlnk
      @TheLegendOfLlnk Před 18 dny +1

      In hockey cities, you sometimes play against former NHL players in like div 13. grabbed the beefed up brown chestie after taking a clapper to the shoulder and having basically a dead arm for a week.

    • @BonesDT
      @BonesDT Před 18 dny +1

      @@HockeyReviews I’m sure very high level players need beefed up chesties and that’s what the custom market is for. But I think the majority of goalies buying retail do not need “beefed up NHL spec” gear. It just seems like every internet goalie and their niece are begging for extreme padding. Maybe I just suck, but I 100% feel restricted mobility the beefier the chestie. I’ve worn these pro stock and store spec versions, and while amazing quality, they are heavy and restrictive. Thicker padding is going to do that.

      @@BonesDT So don't buy it if you don't need it, I was getting bruises and stingers in my league before getting the original AB18PRO and it was night and day

    • @JayTheTapp
      @JayTheTapp Před 17 dny +1

      You don't need to be a pro to shoot the puck hard. I'm in a low level beer league and was getting massive bruise on the arms with my rg4 senior. Upgraded to a Shadow and the protection is a lot better, and it's not even the beefed up version.
