Did Francis Ngannou Fumble The Bag?

- With Francis Ngannou having been a free agent for months now, people are beginning to ask if he made a mistake by leaving the UFC. Did he fumble the bag? In this video, I explore that question.

You can tell Beige has respect for Francis by the fact he's not painting a caricature
Doing a caricature of a black person wouldn't be wise in today's politically correct climate.
@@EsotericOccultist But he literally did just that in his previous video for Chris Rock.
He won't hear any opinion against him. Everyone is a hater to Beige on this topic. Here's the truth, Francis isn't a fighter and had a couple interesting knockouts, a few snoozers, and no manager. Francis makes every mistake in the book and Beige thinks "the tyson fury fight is 50/50." Absolutely laughable

Looks like Francis didn’t drop the bag.
Francis could’ve made millions from resigning with the UFC and made even exponentially more if he beat Jon Jones, high reward and low risk compared to getting a boxing fight with unreliable boxers who say a lot of things (i.e. Tyson Fury).
Fr Fury was talking about special fights with weird gloves and shit I can remember exactly what and as soon as Francis was a free agent Fury was nowhere to be found.
He’ll get a fight with Wilder if he’s serious.
lol luckily for francis he is the only one that gets to make decisions for francis lolol.
@@Therealw1wilder doesn’t sell ppv’s and neither does francis. Plus boxing fans don’t want to see another mma fighter fight a boxer and I don’t think mma fans want to either
@@Romanus- Wilder sells PPV’s genius, he’s unarguably the most profitable fighter in the division based on his recent trilogy. Don’t cite Tyson Fury as some huge money maker. Look at his pay before fighting Wilder.
I think most people were just happy to see the UFC take a loss rather than wanting to see Francis do well.
100%, everyone just bkindly backed Francis but i remember him.lying about his gane fight salary and was like okay the money has taken this man hes ego only now.
@@twuandixon8675 how much do you think he made?
@A Real Mix well it only had 200k buys. The man doesn't draw a dime yet he wants the most money
@@pistolpete8231 Fr he thinks he’s conor when he doesn’t even sell a mil
Yes. The UFC took a huge loss by Francis walking away as a 300k PPV salesman to a huge superstar who sells 1 mill plus PPV’s and made Francis irrelevant in less than 1 round. Huge loss.
Hey, your artwork has gotten so much better over the years. Not saying it was bad before, It's just gotten better. A little off topic but I always enjoy watching you work during these videos.
Thank you

Yeah you got Ngannous tits spot on.
dude i was just thinking something similar like i love watching his drawings as much as the actual video dialogue. i was showing my wife.
Thats how it usually goes with anything you do..especially with art. Some ppl evolve quicker than others but its a progression with time. If he got worse then i would be worried about his mental state.
Me to Francis on the internet: fumbled it all
Me to Francis in real life: I am so sorry for how Dana treated you Mr Francis sir.
Wdym? Ufc literally made his name. Dana treated him just like any other promoter no much better actually. Getting 8 mil to fight Jon Jones is nuts
Francis got offered a 3-fight deal, including $8M + ppv shares against Jones. He could've burned that deal in just over than a year, just to be free to pursue his boxing dreams or whatever he wanted.
He really thought he would get 100M by boxing Fury and that's the only reasonable explanation for his decisions.
Exactly.
I'm so sick of hearing people say 'he turned down the money to have his pride.'
He turned down the money because he somehow thought he was going to make as much money as Deontay made in all three Tyson fights, in one fight.
None of that is true. Those numbers are inaccurate. Where did you get those #'s.
I can guarantee you the numbers. Those are WAY OFF
@@charliec2966 those numbers have come from both Dana and Francis.
@@charliec2966 not the point, the point is that he's money orientated
@Not Kimi Räikkönen ufc is small globally in the sense that there are no actual stars a la the wwe format. Boxing has actual stars. Ngannou is not the draw he thinks he is and nobody really cares about him without the ufc gold. I hope he does well but itll be rough
I saw the writing on the wall the moment I heard that Francis wanted to negotiate with boxing promotions (notoriously corrupt and predatory) without a manager. Meanwhile a lot of mouthpieces at the time said this was brave and savvy from Francis.
The UFC is in itself very corrupt and predatory. In this video Beige hints on WME ownership of the UFC being used to attack CAA, their main rival in the talent acquisition business, ultimately resulting in CAA getting out of the MMA business, which in turns funnels future fighters into managers that are actively colluding with the UFC to keep fighter costs and benefits down like Graham Boyle, Ali, and Wallid. It's just that its centralized and easier to deal with. There no sanctioning bodies, no need to negotiate with the commission and the opponents. No foreign countries swooping in and changing who fights who for the title in an attempt to sportswash, offering big paydays. Its difference between stability and the Wild West. You can make a lot more money in the Wild West, but there as a lot of people who make no money in it.
It is brave, he's still getting offers 😂

@@highestqualitypigiron thats still $1m a fight?? That's more than the UFC paid just so you know. And since you think it's funny, get a load of this....No one is offering YOU anything lmao not even $5 to show up anywhere
Francis in that Ariel interview was shocking. I understand he's not a gifted speaker, but he had nothing planned as he jumped out of his plane. It's not any one thing he said, it was the passive attitude and apparent unpreparedness for his huge career gamble. "50/50 at best" with Tyson? OK
in the long run, it's probably for the best. the world wants exciting UFC champs. but the world needs Uber drivers.
Francis has never had any kind of plan, for anything, ever. He didn't know how he was getting to Europe, once he was there he was homeless and befriended by a coach who took him in and talked into fighting, he didn't understand the rules of the UFC when he first got there. The guy just luckily stumbles into situations...
The tyson fight is like a 1% chance
He thought he'd quit ufc and tyson fury would be in touch any day to give him 100 million. Fool MASSIVELY overvalued himself.
@@m.j.e.5245 I never got why people kept talking as if big boxing fights were even possible, he wasn’t even a massive star in the UFC let alone in a sport he’s never fought in and especially after leaving the UFC because you can’t even trick casuals/non traditional fans into it by saying “current UFC champ vs boxing champ”
Joshua/fury/wilder could all make 3 times the money against some random challenger than they could against Francis.
ONE Championship just announced Ngannou asked for unrealistic money. Man i hope the PFL signs him
The reality is that the UFC is an exploitative organization, and Francis wasn’t allowing himself to be exploited. He demanded what he was worth, and then some, with the additional privileges being freedom to pursue boxing matches. Until the UFC has a fighters’ union and shares at least 50% of its among its fighters, it will continue to be a semi-legitimate, second-rate sporting organization; and thus, sport.
With him recently signing to PFL, a more legitimate organization with a championship structure based more on merit, than PPV buy potential, it signifies a diversity in MMA organizations and the UFC’s eventual downfall. Unless, they make moves to become a legitimate organization on par with the big 4 American sports: Football, Baseball, Basketball, and Hockey.
Anyone else notice francis left the ufc the second Henry Cejudo announced he was coming out of retirement? Francis didnt want that smoke

At this point it's worth taking into consideration the number of people who have said Francis Ngannou has an attitude problem. Derrick Lewis, after speaking amicably about every other UFC opponent he's had, described Francis as an asshole. Maybe if I knew more I'd feel differently, but I think that's worth noting.
Francis definitely has that diva mentality and I'm not suprised he said he was broke when you look at how lavishly his life style is , nice clothes , expensive cars , jewelry, mansions
Lewis is right.
When you grow up as hard as he did it's very hard to shake off that chip on your shoulder.

If Mike Perry Beats Luke Rockhold we need the Florida man redemption doc.
no, no he did not as evident of yesterday
NOT Francis though. Times have changed. Fighters know better. @HisFisticHoliness
@HisFisticHoliness The conversation is about "bag fumbling," not dying rich. HW boxing champs from as far back as the 70s made more than modern-day UFC fighters without even adjusting for inflation.
I feel like Ngannou has the innocent faith of a child and thought Fury would actually stick to his word.
Never trust a boxers word , especially one who always seems to be talking nonsense like Tyson Furry and his family
@asonunique209 yeah, blame Fury 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Francis doesn't just want big money, or a fair contract, or respect from the promotion. He wants all those things, while also being able to do whatever he wants. Like getting his ass whipped in boxing for millions, taking away the power and legitimacy of the heavyweight title for whatever promotion he'd be fighting In. No one fighter, is bigger than the business of fight promotion
Facts. The UFC baddest man on the planet, getting pieced up boxing doesnt help the UFC sell HW championship PPVs
Great point
@@usernotfound904 So the root of the problem is that the UFC is still wholly reliant on PPV buys, an incredibly outdated model of revenue.

Weird video-I get wanting to defend Francis, but many of the people with criticisms just want to see the best actually fight and make money instead of not fighting and not making money. As such it can be frustrating to hear that the millions on the table aren’t enough to make that happen. Ultimately his choice but it can be frustrating for more than just haters
Agreed, Jones v Ngannou was the superfight of superfights for a lot of fans. We all missed something really special. At the same time I can't fault a fighter for doing what they think is in their best interest. It doesn't seem unreasonable to me for Francis to think he could get 25-30m for a fight with Wilder or Fury. As a fan I don't think he has any chance boxing Fury. I'd much rather see him fight Wilder.
This video is as boring as Francis himself. Much love Beige. Perfect
Here is what you're missing in your reasoning when it comes to his deals with other promotions: His stock mostly derives from the allure of being the UFC heavyweight champion. There is a unique mystique accompanying that title, for example how does THE BEST MMA HW stack up with THE BEST HW boxers. The moment that question is answered the mystique is gone; for better or worse.
It all reflects back to the UFC, that's what other promotions would be buying; a piece of reputation from the greatest promotion of our era. Not just some random KO artist.
Being good and being successful are separate things, and while Francis is both it's the latter that counts on the stage he is trying to play at. And that shine fades fast when you step out of the UFC's bright lights.
It was himself that became a fighter, but it was the promotion that made him a star.
Obviously I wish the guy all the best, but he absolutely shit the bed in not staying in the premiere league of MMA.
That's what I've been saying this whole time! As soon as he didn't have "undisputed UFC heavyweight champion" in front of his name all the intrigue of fighting him went out the door, and he didn't want to accept that and now he's paying for it
Why would fury want to fight him if for example Jon jones becomes badness man in heavyweight division, fury will wantnto fight him. Francis is gambling his career on the words of fury, who says a lot of fluff lol
fuck mystique tbh, that's for pro wrestling

Out of all your portraits this is definitely my favorite one. Either I need a refresher or it seems like there's been a progressive jump in quality.
Also, boxing promoters like Eddie Hearn won’t let him take without getting something out of Francis, almost like “you wanna fight AJ? Then fight our lesser known heavyweight first”
Did you see that ONE championship just ended their talk with Ngannou? Their didn’t send their final offer because of different “alignments”
Well it isn't looking superbly bright as of now. Definitely appears to be losing the spotlight but that's a given, plus it's only getting to be more and more time since his last fight. And he isn't getting any younger. But man, I'm so jaded we aren't seeing he and Jones clash. It's insane that Francis thought he'd get those demands met, he knew it wasn't gonna happen he just wanted out. Still keen to see where he winds up.
Yep. He was negotiating in bad faith. Disgraceful
This is pure speculation from me(which is why I didn't really venture into in the video) but I do wonder if he reached a certain point in the negotiations where he realized he wasn't going to get the bare minimum that he wanted and decided to just price himself out of the market.

With the recent fight confirmed for Fury, Wilder, Ruiz and Joshua, it is safe to say the deal is dead and he was probably used. His chance for a straight shot for 1 of these big boys is gone. I realize Chatri was on the MMA hour Yesterday and talked about the Francis situation, but I had already finished the video. He didn't say anything that contradicted or altered the thrust of this video. In fact, I think he actually bolstered my opinion by saying Ngannou is very thoughtful and methodical in his negotiations.Wwhich actually goes against the narrative that he has a big ego or made some ill advised, avaricious decision by leaving the UFC. Now, you can come to your own conclusion about the veracity of Chatri's comments in regards to Francis(or anything really) but I think it reaffirms my general point with this video.
One of his demands was that there has to be a fighter representative present during every negotiation. As if it makes ANY sense for the UFC to be in charge of that. Francis is a moron.

Well he won't make generational wealth through fighting, but he will get paid 1 or 2 mil in some z tier promotion
Very condescending tone used here to describe anyone who has legitimate criticisms of Francis, getting Scwhuab vibes when you just say only the hayduuurz could think he's making a mistake.
And you say interest isn't dying down for him because of 1 recent article? Google Trends determined that his relevancy has fallen off a cliff since January, and that he now has less leverage now than he did the day he left the UFC due to it. Everyone else here may fawn over the video; but myself as someone who loves Francis as a fighter since his debut until now, I think that he's made a cockup of this situation, but to hear any criticisms dismissed and then reversed by sugarcoating everything he does as "actually a good thing" is incredibly biased, something that you never show in your videos.
Here after the ONE Championship contract fell thru. We aint seeing Francis fight again lol
That’s probably the best painting so far, looks so sick
Loved the video, the idea that Francis never had an ego though is ridiculous you can see this through him wanting to manage himself thinking he can do better, than a manager. Watch the Stipe fight buildup he had a massive ego as well as the overreem fight guy was a different dude before he came to the ufc.
Should have taken the 8 million for the Jones fight (which he confirmed was the $ amount) and then fought out the other two fights on the contract. Not sure what the other two fights would have paid but I’d assume a solid amount. After that’s done, go box. Oh well, good luck Francis. I hope boxing pays what everyone says it does.
He's probably making 20 million for fifty y since it's in Saudi Arabia
You diced things up nicely on this video.
Ngannou forgot the value of loyalty - he wouldn’t be nearly as popular as he WAS without the huge promotional push by the UFC. The UFC does this promoting to MAKE MONEY. When the fighter turns on the company - who is going to invest in him now? He’s going to suddenly be loyal to another company? Why would he? He got lied to by his manager or agent and it’s a pure JOKE that he’d get into the ring with Wilder (makes a tiny bit of sense at least bc he’s just a big right hand) but it makes negative sense to see him fight Fury. That’s like me fighting one of these dudes… the result is already known before anyone steps in the ring. Also other companies DO pay more than the UFC. BUT it’s because they get to purchase the value of the prior promotional investment the UFC has already doled out.
Francis made poor decisions and he will never make the money he would have had he stayed with the UFC for another five fights or so - then move on once he’s dethroned and or lost a two or three fight deal or two (maybe some other singular fights too) to Bellator or BKFC - and YES he would have banked FAT FAT FAT cash. But he burned his bridges, and overlooked the promotional investment that he already got and would have continued to receive.
Dumbest shit ever. I understand it’s likely because he literally crawled out of the dirt and made it into a mansion. He worked hard, and was also blessed with amazing skills and attributes. But he screwed it up.
Ngannou gets the W
@Nigalas Cage yea buddy $20 million is certainly an L
