Maybe I should have made this point clear in my video, but I thought I have explained my position on this in other reviews I've made: I find being boring to be a far bigger comedic sin than fumbling through a bit like Schaub does. Jeff has multiple bits on this special that go on for 3, 5, 10 or more minutes with virtually nothing remotely funny. Again, at least Braindumb is ironically funny.
I would watch cringe comedy like Gringo Papi ironically any day over this humorless nonsense

Mrs. Brown's Boys was the most watched comedy show in the UK for several years. Miranda also had ludicrously high ratings. When I was a kid Friends was extraordinarily popular for some reason. I've endured an unnecessarily large amount of time listening to idiots repeating none-jokes to me from those shows alone. Factor in people doing Cartman "jokes" and Ali G impressions and lying in an ice-bath whilst hugging a plugged in hairdryer and being skull fucked with acid tinted blunt scissors often seemed tempting.

I'm not a Foxworthy fan AT ALL, but this is not worse than Schaub. Foxworthy at least has the rhythm, the cadence of a professional comedian. If a joke is otherwise worthless, it still goes down better with a good delivery. Sorry, but this isn't worse than that. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

There will be people that find his topics relatable or funny and him being able perform a good delivery will be good in that case. Even if you found Brendan’s topics funny his delivery and cadence make it impossible to find it hilarious. I think all you have to do is look at the comments under both specials. OK beige… I’m a fan of your channel. After hearing your intro in this video about how Foxworthy‘s new special was like a “Lovecraftian horror“ I thought… Damn, I got to see this. So I went over to Netflix and pressed play. I’m 30 minutes in and I must say that so far this special is straight up folksy, nostalgic and entertaining. Unless he suffers some sort of catastrophic brain injury in the next 30 minutes… I would say you wasted a shitload of time making an Internet doc on who I consider to be a consummate professional and frankly…a national treasure. I’m not sure where you were raised, maybe on a elitist coastal city… But for like 90% of the people in the country… Foxworthy has been extremely relatable and entertaining for several decades now. He was always a guy you could pop in a cassette tape on a road trip with your family and everyone would be laughing and smiling. I’m not really sure what you were expecting from a Jeff Foxworthy comedy special… Not everything has to be edgy and shocking. Is the difference in watching a gaspar noe film and watching honey I shrunk the kids…theres room for both.

I remember seeing an episode of "Blue Collar Comedy" the tv show like 20 years ago and couldn't believe they were STILL just milking Catchphrases THEN.

Look...I thought it was me but this was very much not like his old material. I really like Jeff Foxworthy, Ron White, etc. But this just wasn't funny.
I don't however think it's near as bad as gringo papi or the absolute blackhole of Amy Schumer. It's not good. But it's not The Leather Special

This is just church humor. He’s like the “funny” pastor that tells a few funny stories during his sermons and makes the old folks feel good. He could live well just touring mega churches in the south for the rest of his days

Damn, this special was a feat in how to be as unfunny as possible, as a side note, I tried to watch The Gringo Papi with some friends and over half of them tapped out by the 15 min mark

The improvement on your brushstroke and understanding of light is remarkable. Great commentary as always.

I think you could be right about the special being for elderly people. It's the only thing that makes sense. Otherwise it would be rendered complete nonsense.

Well no fucking shit. He’s old. He’s doing the same type of comedy he’s always done. Why would you expect something different?
