Eddie always talk's the realest shit. And the way he put's it out there is so legit.
This dude is amazing
This guy is honestly the fucking man
Seriously, great interview. Just when you thought it couldn't get more real... it gets more real. As a kid of an immigrant, an outsider within, a hip hop loving, book reading, truth seeking American, I can relate to so much this man says. Tell it.
I thought Eddie was just another Asian pretender trying to put a thick New York accent to compensate for a lack of identity. But the more I listen to him, I see that he is a proud Asian, and is very passionate about trying to advocate for Asian Americans.
Holy shit some real scary hate on some of these comments. Eddie is the realest. definitely looking forward to seeing more stuff from him
this might be my favorite interview so far from vice. i wish i was as proud and connected with my heritage as eddie is. just now realizing how much ive tried to remove myself from my roots and think of myself as a raceless, generic person, even when i cant escape the fact that people will always view me as just an asian person. ive grown up trying to be white. its time to "choose" to own my roots and embrace them.
48:00 this is exactly how I felt, when I began watching 'Off the Boat' I thought it was about food in different places but I learnt so much more than that and I am so glad I subscribed and watched it :D... I will be buying the book
He articulates his thoughts into words so well. Eddie is the man, and he definitely has a great mind on him. I wonder when the new book is going to be released?
As a minority, I get what Eddies saying. Love this man.
break the bamboo ceiling. Ha! love it!
he's so well spoken and explains everything very well
Love watching fresh of the boat, great show
This interview was very insightful and many ways, and as a TCK I identified with his struggles and life. More Eddie Huang!
Keep doing your thing my dude. Best interview I've seen in a while.
Just finished all.episodes of "Fresh Of The Boat" always made my day represent away Eddie ❤️
This guy's keeping it real. Very inspiring.
How is it "keeping it real" that a highly educated Chinese American lawyer raised in a prosperous upper middle class family has appropriated the language, clothing, and mannerisms of urban African-Americans? I guess people can agree to disagree that this cultural appropriation is cool or lame, but I don't see how anybody can claim its in any sense "real." Its the opposite of real.
according to your logic you can't "keep it real" when being educated? Sounds a little strange to me +makanmata
***** You can keep it real by being educated and acting as if you are educated. But being educated and privileged, and appropriating -- and caricaturing -- others by pretending to speak non-conventional english, and aping their dress, mannerisms, etc., is not in any sense "real." It is fake. It is the very definition of acting.
+makanmata looool dude you're so lost. Stop categorising human beings. Just cause he did x he has to act like y? Lol it's 2016 bro. Widen your perspective. People today are whoever they want to be.
Huang can be whatever he wants to be. Just don't tell me its "real" and not caricaturing other human beings with his act. He's free to do it, just don't try and tell me its cool. Huang is pretty quick to criticize and lecture others about their behavior, and I don't see anything wrong with pointing out that he's a boorish and vulgar hypocrite.
I love Eddie ! HE's a very philosophical and knowledgeable guy in his own way. Can't wait for his new show to start !
Awesome interview. Awesome guest. Can't wait to read Eddie's book.
love Eddy Moretti, he asks great introspective questions.

This was great I watched the whole thing
I enjoyed the interview, answered alot of questions and raised a few more. Might just order that book now.
Happened to me when I was in California. People will never realize how hard it is to go through a system like this and I can relate because I'm only 2years older with a similar background.
Eddie is such a well spoken guy. Really enjoyed this interview. It's great to hear about his personal experiences and his parents' - regarding the move to America and the reasons why.
Great watch even if you're not of Asian descent.
i listened to your book on audible, love that it was your voice and spirit i was listening to!thanks for being real.
these podcasts are great!
I don't like his shows, but we think a lot in common. I am proud to see an ABC who values his history and identity so much.
if the expression 'down to earth' applied to anyone and still means something nowadays it should apply to Huang
