I did that to copy my Pleasantview and make a group picture of all of them without the risk of corrupting the neighborhood. Having 80 people in one family and trying to arrange them somehow took me 2 hours but the effect was worth it xD
TS2 works just fine for me on Windows 10, I feel like people who can't get their game to work are just unlucky.
It depends on a lot of things. I have Sims 2: Ultimate collection and I had so many glitches initially I had to look up tutorials on how to change the game's code in the files to make it work correctly.

5:36 when you rename a neighborhood folder, the game can't read those files anymore because it only recognizes the files from the original neighborhood; so you have to copy and paste the "thumbnails" and "storytelling" folders from the renamed neighborhood back into the EA Games folder
Thanks to you and this video my 6 Pleasantviews and I are very happy.
If you don't want to install the renamer and would prefer to do it monotonously, you can press F2 to rename a file without having to right-click, rename etc. I did it this way and it took about 20 minutes but as someone who has very little space to download things it was the better option.
When you get 500 internal error on sim file share, just go to previous page and re dowload it. Works for me

I use an old Windows 7 desktop for my Sims 2! You are the first person I have seen who also uses the old Windows to make the game work!

I think I Know why copied neighborhoods doesn't have description. It might be hard to understand, but here we go:
F.e. You created your own neighborhood - Nowe Pobrzeże, so if you would try to start new one you couldn't name it Nowe Pobrzeże 'cuz you already has neighborhood like this.
Let' s Say your cloning Strangetown. One is N002 and 2nd is N031 as you did.
It's impossible for the game to have two neighborhoods named the same. Game knows Strangetown (N002) already has description so when you're in Strangetown (N031) game thinks it has description 'cuz Strangetown (N002) does.
I guess I also Know how to get desctiopion in Strangetown N031.
After Advanced Renaming put Strangetown 2.0 and take Strangetown 1.0 out. Lauch the game. Change name from Strangetown to Strangetown 2.0 (or something else). Open the neighborhood. Exit the game. Put Strangetown 1.0 to game. And it should work ;)

I have Windows 10 and it works like a charm. Had to watch tutorials because I had a problem with one expansion pack but I don't know anymore what it was. I just can't play sims 1 😂

I used the Sims 1 Complete Collection page on Old Games Download and it works like a charm! Follow EVERY step in the ReadMe File or the page itself though, and especially the 8th step about compatibility (!!!) to not get stuck on the neighbourhood screen.
My main issue with this is that the text-box prompts (like Vidcund wants to use the telescope, then gets abducted) won't show up either (just like the neighborhood stories, but that's less important for me).
Any solution for that?
I once tried this without a tutorial with Strangetown and did everything right, except the mass rename. At least I fixed that! And I'm glad I did cuz Strangetown disappeared completely while in limbo
Is there a maximum amount of neighbourhoods you can have? And The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection works completely fine for me on Windows 10, amazing actually. But, I hear millions of different stories of playing sims 2 on windows 10. I wonder why.... EA sucks lol
Yeah I play Sims 2 Ultimate Collection on Windows 10 and it works fine for me too lol. I did have to tweak it a lil bit but it's overall ok
AKGBLanvia The only issues I have is the occasional glitch (somehow, my sim used to always end up on the roof lol). But lag doesn’t exist for me. My game is kinda pixelated, but my monitor is very big yet also dated whoops

The amount of work you need to do to get some things working in TS2 is wiiiiiiild
Windows 7 is perfectly fine, it's a lot more stable and functional than 10 and not so full of trash. Just have protection for your browser and don't click shady links, keep all the DLL-producing tools updated and you'll be fine. And if you are really concerned, there may be some... more hacky ways to still get updates for win7, just as there was for xp.
What eye mask do you have for your sims? They look stunning
You also have to change neighborhood ID by editing neighborhood.package inside the folder using SimPe, otherwise it will potentially lead to corruption

@@Marticore essentially half of the info (well, maybe not size-wise, just figurative) is stored inside of neighborhood.package (for example that's one of the reasons why you can't delete a character file and consider the sim to be safely deleted - info about them still will be stored inside of neighborhood.package, and when game will try to create a new sim using the same ID their info will overlap with chunks of info that are still stored in package file). That's why it's important to change neighborhood ID inside of this file - it's a big part of whole nhood's structure. I don't actually know what can happen if there are two same IDs and ID inside of a package doesn't match to folder's ID because corruption isn't always visible but it is advised to change it.

@@fandbzgt100 open simpe, then open the neighborhood you need to edit and find "ID number" on the left side, click on it and click again on it on the right side, then edit it below

I'm very happy I found this. I downloaded a Pleasantview clean template, and I renamed the main folder PLEA I did not change the other files, but as I look in the folder now ALL those files changed to PLEA. I did open the file and load the neighbourhood did the game change it ?? I'm very puzzled.
I was readying to move that folder and start again with your suggest.
One of my custom hoods Riverview City name their folder CITY so that's why I have my clean hood named PLEA.

I am asking mostly cuz I'm fan of older ones and had no idea there was different version somewhere in internet. But guessing by names (I saw 'fixed dead' there) I just guess they gave genes to deceased ancestors.
I just copy my town-folder to C disk, and when i want to change my town I replace town from the game folder and copied folder advance (from C disk)

I lit never thought of cloning neighbourhoods, so, i have a question:
¿Do pre-scripted events work in those cloned neighbourhoods, or just the original ones?
If they work, i might do this myself.
Having to delete and copy paste everything againg every single time i want to play the scripted events of each Maxis neighbourhood just to make different storylines everytime sounds annoying and exhausting, but with this maybe it is doable.
Any advice if I followed this to a T and it didn’t work? :( I’m trying to move my old Pleasantview over to my new laptop and wanted to keep the fresh Pleasantview as well. I renamed all of the old files and planted them in the Neighborhoods file but they won’t show in game. Then, I said I didn’t need the fresh PV, so I deleted the N001 file and pasted over my N001 files from my USB drive. It still doesn’t show up! I’m getting desperate 😅
Hello, I don't know if you can give me a solution but I wanted to ask. I have a MacBook Air and bought Sims 2 on the appstore, Sims 2 Super Collection. But right now one of my neighborhoods doesn't let me enter it just loads, I've tried to see if I can fix it but most people tell me I have to go to my Sims files, but I don't have any files for Sims on my folders. It's just the app, is there a solution for this?
If it’s a neighborhood without much progress (or that you’re not emotionally attached to :P) I suggest just deleting and reinstalling the application. Deleting the application kind of wipes all glitches from your game since it’s all reset like new. Deleting the application does delete all progress however so it’s recommended if you have a lot of progress.

I wish i could find one person that makes sense, i dont have any of these files, its not EA games its origin, non the neighbourhoods are in any of the file locations i get told on anything i look up its driving me insane why cant it be simple, why cant it just not delete my premade towns just because the game crashed.
Origin Games is the installation location. Look in DOCUMENTS.
Hey Marticore, I tried to do this exactly the same as you did in the video, but I didn't get my extra Pleasantview on my neighbourhood menu. I'm not sure what I did wrong.. Can you help me, I don't even know if you keep up with these comments on this video still, but might as well try :)
Do you have the new hood in your Neighborhoods foder? Did you look inside to check if all files have been renamed?
@@Marticore Yes I do, I was thinking should it maybe be just a little thing as I clicked copy on the file, and then pasted it into the TS2 Neighbourhood folder, instead of "cut", I have my Windows in Finnish so I can possibly mix these "options" together?

@@Marticore Well now it suddenly started working, even though there are some random townies, which I would've liked to only have the Pleasantview townies, but oh well. And I renamed the folder from "N001" to "N014".
