- Hello Shiny Crafty People and welcome back to the channel!
One of the things I love - in addition to sewing - is origami! I used to get packs of origami paper for Christmas and loved spending my teenage years folding fun patterns.
I really gravitate to the useful things, like boxes, so here's a fun box you can make out of paper or fabric!
To stiffen both layers of fabric, I used a heavyweight woven cotton interfacing. Here's a link to buy it on Amazon: amzn.to/3UKkm
If you like this fabric, here’s the link where I bought it: amzn.to/3wsmItq
I learned this pattern years and years ago, but there are many great tutorials that show you how to fold this traditional star origami box, but here's a fun one I found: favemom.com/traditional-star-...

Oh My Goodness, Tim!! This is such a cute, easy little box to make. It could easily be made with a couple of squared up fat quarters in no time at all. It would make an adorable box filled with small items like candies, soaps, lotions, whatever for a small gift to someone. I also love that tip about taking a couple of stitches at the opening to tuck in the opening edges. Thank you. Also, if you find more fabric origamis, please share.
Fantastic tutorial. Thank you.
Absolutely amazing! Love this
Thank you so much!!
Loved that idea. Must try it
Love origami! Great tutorial as always❤
Thanks!!
Love to watch everything you make
Beautiful piece! Thanks for sharing.
Love your videos🏴
Thank you!
Very cute, thank you
Tim, after making 500 masks, I learned that using a chopstick from the farthest corner to the opening is so fast!
Such a good idea!
Love your style ❤😊
You’re so kind! Thank you.
Very interesting project - great looking fabric 🤩
Thanks! I got the fabric on Amazon: amzn.to/3wsmItq
I enjoy making a project like this because it’s useful. I prefer the RNK turning tool because it has a barrel shape with a bead shaped end. It doesn’t roll on a flat surface and it doesn’t break. I’ve broken the plastic ones and accidentally poked a hole in my project with the pointy end. I guess I don’t know my own strength.🤦
Great Morning!
You started with a 15 inch square of fabric, what size did your box end up being?
If you wanted to make Christmas ornament sized items, what size of square would you start with. Christmas ornaments are generally in the 3-4 inch range.
Could you serge your squares together wrong side to wrong side? I guess it would provide a slightly different edge treatment, but it would eliminate turning it inside out.
Neat idea!!!
Wow! You amaze me
How fun! Love your steam iron! Will you share the brand & model?
I don’t know because I don’t really like this particular iron. Oops! Lol
@@timothytotten9409 Appreciate your honesty! Thanks!
Did you make your sewing table?
One of my employees, Bonnie, made our sewing tables. She’s super handy with power tools!
I started to get a headache…when I get my square ready, I will put video on slow.
Cool beans bro, I really enjoy your videos, thanks for sharing... All the best, be well. Rob in Connecticut...
Thanks! Nice to meet ya.
