- Hello Shiny Crafty People and welcome back to the channel!
One of the things I do without enjoying it is BINDING ANYTHING! I don't like making binding, I don't like sewing binding, I don't like finishing binding.
So when I realized I could cut a single strip and sew the two sides of a pillow to it in such a way that meant it would fold all the raw edges inside and then a single stitch to close up this "fake binding" I was super excited!
Of course, I should have cut the fabric on the bias and I wouldn't have had to fight it going around the corners, but I love a challenge!
Oh, and while this quilt isn't available from Walmart anymore, you could certainly buy any kind of pre-made quilt for this project, including this cute one I like from Amazon: amzn.to/42OlFQN

I like seeing your ideas! I really enjoy how you talk out the problems you come across. It's very educational.
Keep sharing! ❤
Thanks for saying that. I really try to do what you talked about. Especially when I make mistakes, because we all do and too often tutorials look like perfection start to finish.
Very clever idea regarding the binding style, I think it also lends itself to include piping in the centre. I have made many patchwork, appliqued and embroidered cushion covers but never tried that binding method. Many thanks, Tim, for sharing your creativity. ❤
That is a good idea.
This is a great idea! I may have to give it a go. I like how you have taken this quilt and made so many items out of it - great job ❤
Love this idea! I did something similar for a body pillow cover. French seamed it. Wish I'd seen your idea first! Lol! Thank you for sharing all your wonderful ideas with us!
Thanks for this, I actually think I could do this!
It’s also a fun way to join pre-quilted blocks in a quilt.
That is soooo cool, I never made a throw pillow like that, I'm super glad you did this video ❤❤❤ I also love watching how you maneuver your fabric it's interesting...
I learned from two very different seamstresses and I think I took ideas from both of them. Plus, I’ve spent a lot of time sewing on my own. I’m sure I’ve developed a few unusual habits lol
I made the placemats for myself and gave 3 sets as gifts.
Awesome! I’m a huge fan of this technique. I just hate doing regular binding lol
Very pretty!
I love your ideas, I must have made 100 masks. The pillow case is going to be next. I did make pajamas out of a quilt. They are great
We’re they thick? Or did you use a thin quilt? I’m intrigued by that idea!
They were not to thick. I took a pair of sweat pants as my pattern, did a elastic waistband, used the finished edge for the bottom of legs. Made a jacket too, kinda crazy what you can do. I truly enjoy your videos.
I used a couch cover I don't use I got it at Walmart I think
What an ingenious idea. Always looking for new ways to do things.
Great idea! You could also place cording in the channel that was created!
Oh yeah, such a great idea!!
Hi ,if you wet the eye of the needle the thread should be a bit easy to go though xx
Thanks for the tip!
A little piece of white paper behind the sewing machine needle enables you to see the hole clearly when threading
What a great idea!!!
Hello, sorry I’m late to the party, I was watching the rugby.
No worries! Who won? I’ve been watching a little bit lately, since I was weaned on American Football, but finding it broadcast here in the US is sometimes difficult.

What kind of rotary cutter are you using?
Why not create a bias seam on your homemade tape like in making a tie?
Can I ask the type of sewing machine? I'd love a high-speed machine, but, mine would have to have an automatic needle threader.
I use the Janome 1600p. Here’s a video about it: czcams.com/video/TcB7nhR_dIc/video.htmlsi=SlrXUnbS5A9dB2v3
Not to jinx you, but have you ever cut yourself with the rotary scissor?
You can’t jinx me because I’ve already done it! Was not a good feeling. Luckily it was just a slight brush. I am super careful now with a rotary cutter.
@@timothytotten9409the way you handle that rotary scares me on occasion.
