- Eleven Los Angeles city firefighters were injured in an explosion, one seriously, while battling a fire at a homeless encampment on Monday, authorities said. KTLA's Mary Beth McDade reports on June 23, 2024.

Fire Dept needs to start suing the city politicians for allowing illegal encampments that don't meet standards. There is a reason why they are illegal and that's how firemen and others get injured!
Fire Dept. Needs to call the Supreme Court because they are the ones that are preventing the city from enforcing anti-camping laws. . .

How awful of you to be so hateful towards someone whom you don't know. I have The Greatest Respect for Our First Responders. I am a medically retired healthcare professional and I have had family in law enforcement, and I have a nephew who is a Current Firefighter for the last 10 years.

President Reagan’s administration… early 80s…started closing and defunding the mental hospitals …the homeless situation has grown and exploded over the years. That was a bad decision. It shifted responsibility onto communities.

So sad for the firemen. Praying for quick and complete recovery. Not very confident that housing the homeless that caused this would help though as they would probably burn down the housing as well.

That really doesn't sound like just a homeless encampment. In my non-educated opinion that seems to be more like a drug laboratory.
Enough is enough. Homelessness isn't a right to not follow the laws. if people want to live in these encampments then there should be designated police patroling them 24/7 to make sure they are abiding by laws. That is no littering, that is no drugs, no weapons etc. IF we did this then these homeless will see that they just can't be crude and unhealthy. If we need to have mobile showers and have them wash their clothing. Yes they are homeless but we don't need to tolerate their lawlessness and disordeliness. Ignoring restrictions makes is wrong. ACLU should be demanding restrictions.

I never understand equating injured workers insta-released from hospital as a good thing. Good for whom? The employer, insurance, hospital--and risk managers, assessor, settlement & labor lawyers?? We used to C-A-R-E for patients, provide rest, observation, time to allow various conditions to surface & be understood, i.e. DOCUMENT. It's call TRAUMA for a reason. Sometimes the person TRAUMATIZED isn't a good judge of their condition. Who is providing post-event care? Unpaid family members/friends/nobody? We used to have hospitals run to CARE for patients by professional RNs and associated trained recovery/rehab staff based on the patient's genuine status and recovery---not the expenses, bed count, turnover, insurance rates, employer, or legal Readiness + Settlements...

It is not a crime to be homeless, it is the dangerous things some homeless do. Remember, we live in a country that helps out foreign invaders and not its citizens. This will only get worse as more American citizens will be displaced as the invasion continues. Most are one ore several paychecks from losing their homes. It could happen to you too.

Everytime I drive on Burbank Blvd around Sepulveda Basin park area, so many homeless are on south side of those buses. I really hope the gov would figure out.

Once, at my job, the homeless tried to have a fire right near our building. The FD drove by and just blew water on everything and everyone to put it out. I wasnt there, but the video in my mind is hilarious.
