Color my world. A simple but oh so lovely song
I absolutely hated Colour my world growing up. I found it slow, boring, and kind of depressing. Then I heard czcams.com/video/Ts86Heyj_e4/video.html and this version is one of my favorites now. The strings and brass just add a warmth and depth the original was missing for me.
I haven't seen anyone do "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is" yet, Great Song by Chicago, and my earliest memory of hearing them on AM radio way back when.
With the piano introduction!!!!
@@markpeterson6279 Absolutely, even better.
Another song that escapes reactors is Saturday the park.
@@brandonious7732 I have seen a couple reactors do it, but yeah it goes largely unnoticed.
"Just Jammin" did a reaction to it.
You'll find with Chicago, like with Boston, the further back you go, the better the music.
just like Genesis
Live version of I'm A Man is sheer energy, and of course, terry kath tearing it up.
Brilliant.
Combined it's the best music of my childhood. Contrasted with their later work.... I can't even listen to it.
Totally agree!!
Oh, I do love early Chicago.
😎
Early Chicago is way better than later stuff from them.
You should hear "Wishin' You Were Here", with Terry Kath on lead vocals.
The weird thing is that Terry Kath couldn’t stand the song, but he agreed to sing lead.
@@lathedauphinot6820 Sounds like a parody of Pink Floyd.
@@kentclark6420 True. It isn't though. It's about missing someone whole on the road.
@@charlesburris6314 I don't know if I remember that Chicago tune, so I guess I'd better take a listen. It was so long ago!
I love that Peter Cetera can sing like that while playing a bass line of that quality. One of the most underrated bass players ever, in my opinion.
He _is_ a terrific bass player. And he is quite capable of playing while singing, without issues. But he didn't play this particular bass track while also recording the main vocal. The bass wouldn't have been quite _this_ perfect, _and_ creative ta boot, if it was played on autopilot while he was busy nailing the vocal.
Even at 70+ years old... the brass trio is amongst the greatest on Earth
The music before Terry Kath died was the best.
Yes
Brother if you like this you must checkout Beginnings by Chicago, it's got everything you like
Danny Seraphine on Drums...the Beat is Phenomenal!!!! What a band...all artists pivot to jazz, melody, tempo ...every type of music is captured and delivered in this group's productions!!!!
Color my world beautiful song . This band is one of my all time favorite you won’t go wrong with Chicago 🤘🍄❤️💙
You know I want to see him react to the Tanglewood Live version of 25 or 6 to 4.
Also.....I'm A Man.......good stuff.
These guys were all great people. My parents were friends with the band and they would play softball together. Great memories.
Must be Chicago softball. And there is such a game : no gloves and a ball called " a clincher" as large as a honey dew melon. Not for teenagers with little hands
How about the first song from their first album, “Introduction”, by the great Terry Kath? It is what it calls itself, an amazing introduction to all the band’s different styles.
I agree start where I did. My band teacher played the entire Chicago Transit Authority album instead of playing as a surprise as a Senior in high school. With this band the goodies are in the deep cuts and it pretty much ends with the loss of Jimi Hendrix’ favorite guitarist Terry Kath in 1978.
1-11. VII disc 2 is drenched in Jazz Fusion.
Deep, DEEP, Rabbit hole! Be prepared! Chicago, EARLY Chicago, is my favorite group. They were just so dang good!🥰
Had the pleasure of seeing them in concert twice in the late 70s at the CNE Grandstand in Toronto. This tune was always a crowd pleaser. Not only great music but they put on a terrific show. Thanks for trip down memory lane!
25 or 6 to 4 live...unbelievable.The lead guitarist Terry Kath, was called the greatest guitarist by no other than by...Jimi Hendrix.
I dig Terry’s playing and talent (sincerely) but Chicago tells that story so take it at face value. Jimi was very complimentary of others playing (a great humble guy). He said similar things to Dave Davies of the Kinks, Stephen Stills and others. So don’t go exclusively from the Chicago documentary as gospel
I love the Jumpin’ Jack Flash references towards the end of the song…
Danny Seraphine was and still is a great drummer!!!!
Glad you enjoyed! I liked your lyrics interpretation in relation to the music. Great song from a top-tier band. Good memories for me. A couple that don’t get suggested that often but are good are “Questions 67 and 68“, “Lowdown“, and “South California Purples“
Chicago at their creative peak. Cetera and Seraphine on fire!
Every time I hear this song I sit listening to the first half in complete anticipation of the build up of tempo and tension in the second half of it. The build up is amazing. Can't do that with a drum machine! And that keyboard sounded very much like one of the old Wurlitzer electric pianos that gave that great fuzzy timbre when pushed.
I just love how that set that solid, steady groove with great lead and backing vocals, then at the end they just step on it to get to that train on time (yes, the Chicago Transit Authority train).
My favourite from this band.
Got 70's stamped all over it,and we LOVE that!
If you really liked this track and the way it builds up with the instrumentation and the layering of vocals on the way to creating a full soundscape I think you should react to the first Chicago song I ever heard which was my Dad’s favorite by then and I remember I would watch him when the song would play and how he would get so involved in it and it impacted me and also was instructive because I could connect the reason he would get so immersed. The song is “(I’ve Been) Searchin’’ So Long” and I’d be really curious to see what type of reaction it would elicit from you especially in light of your reaction to this great song.
As a long-time fan of this band, I'm so glad to see new people discover this great band!
Early Chicago ROCKS!!!
Great Band!!! Among the gods of Rock n' Roll!!!!
Peter cetera. Most underrated bassist in Rock history
A great band.
Chicago has so many hits!
For a twist, check out Leonid and friends, Russian musicians who play Chicago songs with so much enthusiasm it's infectious
The most amazing song they ever wrote!
As a kid in the 70s my two favorite bands were YES and CHICAGO!!!
I saw you enjoy that drumming, lol. This is my # 1 Chicago song. Make me smile is in my top three and of course Saturday in the park and on and on and on. Keep listening. They are amazing. The horns and harmonies. WOW!
Early Chicago is the best Chicago.
"OLD DAYS" and "WISHING YOU WERE HERE" are pretty dang awesome. Shows off Terry's voice in Wishing you were here with the beach boys.
I’m hoping you caught it by now, but it’s Feeling Stronger EVERYday.
I used to mix up the words too.
I finally remembered: I used to think “I’m alright now” was “one more week now” Oh well 🤷🏻♀️
"I've checked out other various reaction channels reacting to the music of CHICAGO, FINALLY, someone is reacting to this particular tune, thank goodness it's YOU.THANK YOU!!"
I love Chicago and that you reviewed them! Incredible band.
Growing up in the 70’s-80’s I was never into Chicago,I was into underground music but I heard this as an adult & at the end the drummer & bass player go bat shit crazy that I fell in love with this song
Hohner Pianet electric piano. Yes, the same Hohner that makes harmonicas.
Hey Chod! So much fun watching you air-drum! And I can see you listening to the fills...your eyebrows do stuff as your analyzing. Great fun!
Chicago has many hits....
Love them😍🎶🎶🎶
When I was in college and this song was current radio play, when traveling on the NYS Thruway, this song would come on the radio at about the same physical location, I'd try and time my acceleration up or down this big hill as the tempo picked up!!!!! Yeah!!!
Doobie Brothers' LISTEN TO THE MUSIC and Chicago's SATURDAY IN THE PARK sings out 70s to me
Chicago is just so good. Can never get enough of Peter cetera's voice❤
The background vocals.. are what make this song special.. At the end you will here them pay tribute to the rolling stones when they sing.. 'gas gas, its a gas gas gas'... and then you will hear Robert Lamm .. keyboards ...growl... 'Im doing all right now...' after Pet sings 'Feeling Stronger Everyday'...
Chicago was originally named Chicago Transit Authority, but had to change their name after the actual Chicago Transit Authority had their phone lines melt down. Lol
Sweet home Chicago!!!
😛
@@Lightmane 😎
Great song. Someone mentioned Wishin You Were Here. I have not heard that in years. I'd love to see you review it. I'm going to listen to it right now!
The great Danny Seraphine on the sticks!
Not just today, but feeling stronger "everyday!!!"
Me too!! Im fan of Chicago up to NOW❤❤
Jason Scheff ❤❤
Old school Fender Rhodes electric piano, with the keys/hammers hitting metal tynes, amplified, so lots of sensitivity, like a regular piano!
Never thought of this song like that. Thank you. Now I do.
Try “Poem58” and South California Purple”!
First 4 albums were just so full of tastie tunes for the ears✌🤘
Try a song written by Terry Kath called "introduction" Chicago's best. Tempo and time changes throughout. Starts 4/4 to 3/8 to 19/8 back to 4/4. Dynamics off the chart.
When you’ve got a backbone made of talents like Seraphine and Cetera, you can afford to walk farther and farther out onto the limb. Those two have no problems playin with crazy measures and changes. Just think of how much more confident Kath could be knowin those two were gonna lay it down.
My favorite band of all time!
Peter Cetera (Bass Player) is also the singer.
I love this song! They have many good songs!
Wow, love these guys!
Seen them half of dozen times live. So so good!!
I've got that vinyl sitting right next to my stereo passed down from my dad
I love Chicago! Many great songs. I think a forgotten gem is OLD DAYS. Please check it out!
my favorite song of ALL TIME
TRUST ME, I KNOW YOU LIKE TRANSITIONS!! POEM 58! POEM 58! POEM 58! POEM 58! POEM 58! POEM 58! POEM 58!
I'm honored, thank you.🤣
And agree
70’s Chicago is awesome!!!!!
Please check out blood sweat and tears. Two songs off the top... Spinning wheel, and you make me so very happy.
I agree Brandon. I was about to request them too. Spinning Wheel would be a great introduction, but they have so many incredible songs. Wish more reactors would listen to their music.
You got a nice smile like Keenan on SNL.
In an orchestra or large band, that is what the conductor is for. In a garage band, the drummer sets the beat. The typical band is small enough that all players can hear the drummer. In an orchestra or large band, the flute player on one side of the orchestra can't hear the violins on the other side of the band, so the conductor sets the tempo, and all the instruments keep their eyes on him/her for direction. Same with a marching band, that fellow marching in front with the big baton is setting the tempo for the band.
Poem 58 is one of their greats, it will take you on a journey. Long song and well worth the time.
The smile on your face during the whole song was a dead giveaway, it was obvious you loved this song. One of my many Chicago favs.
Precious memories of driving down the road, radio blasting, windows down, singing and banging on the steering wheel. Thank god for the radio that played all this awesome music. RADIO! The best part of giving us this music.
My fav is “make me smile”
Leonid and Friends is a tribute band for Chicago. They are Russian and absolutely sounds just as good as the original to me.
Endorsed by members of Chicago themselves.
I was going to mention them, as well. They are amazing and fo Chicago justice, for sure.
This is one of my favorite Chicago songs. 🙂
Just so you know Chod, drummer Danny Seraphine was only 20 when Chicago's first album came out, and he was 24 for FEELING STRONGER EVERYDAY.
Great insights!
Great band
Hey Chod, "Feeling Stronger Everyday" is a vibe & a jam all in one!!! With that said, we're still waiting for you to react to Chicago's song titled: "CALL ON ME"
Groovin man!
Check out Blood Sweat and Tears "spinning wheels"
Chod, you will love their songs South California Purples and A Hit by Varese.
Chad , this song was when they were beginning to cave to more common consumerism. I'm here to request a Chicago song called 'LONLINESS IS JUST A WORD' from their number 3 album of 1971. The real nuts and bolts of chicago , and no cute stuff !
Early, and BEST Chicago, also listen to Beginnings, Questions 67 & 68 (horn spectacular); Dialogue Part 1 and 2, Saturday in the Park, Old Days, Lowdown. many others.
Try Searching and Make Me Smile by them- fantastic music.
You liked the tempo change in this song. Well, the song Questions 67 & 68 have 3 changes, which you haven't reacted to yet. Most of the song was written by the guitarist Terry Kath. He couldn't write music so the trombonist, James Pankow, assisted with writing it, according to their biography. The song was about a fallen out love and the guy is just feeling stronger every day after the break up
This is Chicago's debut album with Peter Cetera
Chicago has many great tunes. Poem 58 and Dialouge are a couple.
You can't miss with anything from the 1st 10 albums.
If you loved this one you will love Saturday in the Park
crescendo!
It's Feeling Stronger EVERYDAY.
They had me at "Oh, yeah"....Check out "Searching So Long"
Next one to check out with these guys is Skinny Boy!!
👍👍
Have you reacted to "questions 67 & 68"? really highlights the horns, with 3 tempo changes nd then back down again. Also, the introductory song, "Introduction"on their first album introduces each member/instruments. .
😊👍
Chicago is great. You gotta see 25 or 6 to 4 live at Tanglewood.
😎
@@jeffschielka7845 we just can't stop running into each other, lol
@@Lightmane Stop following me! Lol!!!😂😎
@@jeffschielka7845 I'm STALKING YOU JEFF, ROFL
@@Lightmane 😎
There from the beginning but never play them now because we've got the phenomenal Russian band Leonid & Friends playing their music. Try them!
Seems like you’re impressed.😆
