Listen carefully and see if you can spot how this one Progressive Christian pastor twists John 3:16 to reject the gospel.
Note the rhetorical move of pretending that those who don't agree with him are mean-hearted and delight in condemning people.
Note how he isolates one part of one verse from it's full context so that he can more easily pretend it teaches something very different than it really does.
Note, most of all, how a thoughtful reading of Scripture in context will protect you from nice-sounding, false doctrines.

The mere fact that this gentleman was able to utter these words and not drop dead on the spot is a huge testimony to God's patience, endurance and mercy.

Soo many people do this, its been blowing my mind latley. So many "Christians" i know want God to be who they want him to be, and to serve them. We need to totally flip that around and truly know who God is and to conform to what he wants of us and to serve him.

I'm not a preacher, but I know God hates heresy.

I know I do things that make Him angry, and I ask Him to forgive me and to nudge me along, lead me on the righteous path.

Actually through videos like this I’ve noticed for some time that LGBT members have been infiltrating the church, posing as pastors. They’re purposely decieving entire congregations, and deluding the gospel from the inside out. We need to pray for these people, but I believe this is the types of things Christ was talking about when he mentioned wolves in sheep’s clothing. These entire congregations need to be prayed for.
Pray that their hearts and minds are opened to the true gospel, and the veil of delusion is lifted from their eyes.
The delusion going on in the world right now on a mass scale is actually kind of scary. What suprises me, and shocks me is literally how fast a society can crumble and go down this path in literally a few short years.

He errs greatly at 36 seconds when he says "I believe". Everything after that is man speaking out of the abundance of his heart.

That “I believe” just put him off the rails. No thanks. That’s right up there with “I identify.” Once that’s out there, I’m done listening and moving on.
The creeds also start with "I believe," but the difference is they don't lead us to ignore what the Bible says. You can say "I believe" if you're going to try to stay within the scriptures, only looking to see what they offer and agree on. But you have to know when speculation goes out-of-bounds.

I noticed in the original video, the guy said, "That is not what Jesus is saying in TODAY'S gospel." Using that adjective says quite a lot. There's only one Gospel, and Paul even instructed us to have our guard up against any "other" gospel being presented.
I had the same thought. However, I know some churches/denominations have different readings for each week (i.e. OT, Psalm, something from the gospels, and one of the epistles) and the pastor chooses to preach from one or more of those.

My understanding is he means the passage read on that day. I'm a Catholic and every day has a certain set of Scripture passages that are read at Mass for all Catholic churches so we all hear the same thing. The priest will often say "today's gospel."

I’m glad there are channels like yours. I spent the first 46 years of my life as an atheist and have been saved now going on a year. I would hate to think that would spend all that time in the wilderness only to lose salvation by getting duped by false teaching.

@@shawnahathaway4762 My uncle who mentored me, gave me the advice of “always refer back to scripture.” But then that opened up that different Bible translations may be missing verses or have them altered. So I have several different translations and cross reference them. I’m very scared of getting duped by false teachings.

Now that I am a follower of Christ I can’t believe I was an atheist. It seems so obvious to me now. Better late than never I suppose.

Wonder if the "preacher" recalls this passage from Genesis 2: 21-25.

No where is the Bible I've read does it say man shall leave his father and mother and shall cleave to man as his wife.

John 14:6 is the claim. What is the evidence? Would you accept the Quranic verse I posted as evidence for the truth of Islam?

The love of John 3:16 also comes from the fact that it nicely sums up the entire story arc of scripture. It’s a great and simple way for kids and new believers to hear and memorize the true point of the Bible and salvation

How about we look for Biblical proof and whether or not it denies Jesus? Why don't we test it against scripture and the Holy Spirit instead of dismissing it because it's "new". For clarification, I mean in general. It's obvious that the progressive "preacher" that Mike Winger is reacting to is false. In fact, all progressive "pastors" are false. But I'm sure you already knew that.
All of Protestantism is new, it’s conclusions hadn’t been believed for the first 1500 years of the church.
We should always call out false teachers of the gospel, because it is by our belief of the gospel, that our sins are forgiven and we are saved, as seen in I Corinthians 15:1-4.
False teachers are all those that preach that Paul taught the same gospel as Jesus Christ (while on earth) and Peter and the 11.
That teaching is heresy, plain and simple.
Did Paul (by inspiration of the Holy Spirit) lie in the verses below?
Paul was given a "dispensation" of the gospel as God said in I Corinthians 9:17.

Yes, Paul was given the dispensation of the gospel that we know as the "gospel of the grace of God," as God said below in Ephesians 3:2.

"If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward."
Those that teach that our church started at Pentecost and those that teach that our gospel was preached at Pentecost are false teachers. The gospel that Peter preached at Pentecost is called the gospel of the kingdom and promised an earthly kingdom for Israel.
It was 9-10 years later that Paul first preached the gospel of the grace of God.
I put my faith in God's word, not man's word.
Based on your principle no theology created in the last 2000 years can be true due to the fact that at one stage it must have been new.

I love it when someone like Mike confirms something I really believe I finally came to understand. So is not a quantity so much as the manner or the how he loved the world. Simply he demonstrated his love for the world by giving his Son as a sacrifice that we who believe may be saved.

Its amazing how many 'questions/contradictions/misunderstandings' can easily be resolved by not only reading a few more verses but reading the context i.e. between the paragraph headers. .

That’s a United Church of Christ emblem on his stole. So much apostasy there and I was in the pews when it started to happen. Do you know they trace their roots back to the Mayflower Pilgrims? Those ancestors are definitely rolling in their graves.

The sure sign that someone is a false teacher is when they focus on HALF a verse and either ignore or downplay the rest. I once walked out on a sermon by Kenneth Copeland where he literally was teaching that if you want to be a doctor, you don’t need to go to medical school, because you have “all of the knowledge of the Spirit within you.” When I looked up the verse in context, I was doubly disgusted, because that verse was all about having the knowledge to spot false teachers. Imagine the pure gall of using a verse about false teachers as a basis for a false teaching.
