This session was recorded on 7 May 2024 on the Valheim Public Test Branch.
This series includes Glitchy and my genuine first reactions to entering the Ashlands without much knowledge at all! We were able to coordinate and play on the FIRST day of the Public Test Branch’s release so take that with its own grain of salt. It is not part of any other playthrough and is a standalone on a new world I created to help us quickly get ready and play with some Ashlands stuff, since we didn’t have a good playthrough ready to join up and adventure in together! This is a series that Glitchy and I both recorded and made separate videos for our respective channels. Watch one or both videos if you want to see Glitchy’s perspective.

@WafflesGamesProbably do you have a way for people to share screenshot or short videos of their builds / ideas . As I currently am working on a build that I think would make a great video not seen a build idea like it and think it could generate veiwa . But sadly I'm not able to do anything with it 😕

its been quite a long time since ive seen your videos and i will tell you why (nobody asked but im going to tell)
i was in a bike accident and broke my hand and leg, so i had to be hospitalized for three weeks because they were pretty critical.
but now that im back (not that it makes a difference) im happy (got a lot to catch up on...)

Lure mobs away from the fiddleheads (and other plants) as they will be destroyed during combat. That way you can keep harvesting them as they respawn.
When using the fireball staff, aim at the ground at your target's feet (except flying) that way if it's a near miss, it'll still take splash damage instead of missing completely.
it's tough to find any mage content in ashlands. keep that eitr up! ;)

Brings antifire potions to a place filled with fire… and doesn’t use them. 😂😂
To be fair they're very rarely necessary. Buuuut they come in handy on occasion! I just dropped them off for a while since I didn't find them useful at all. Then suddenly they're useful.
@@WafflesGamesProbablyI found it useful when fighting the Valk since it does pretty strong fire damage.
The fire is an insta kill on the difficulty I was on so I was kinda surprised that it only did like 60 damage or something to you.
8:50 if you take off your cape you can see ALL of the spoons attached to your armor :P

I converted a fortress into a xp farm by mining under the spawners. I mined out around the center . Leaving 1 corner up for living space creating a area for fighting opposite the spawners with line of sight . .

its crazy how much dmg the new weapons deal compared to the other videos it is really game changing
Oh yeah once you get the Ashlands tier gear, the game really changes and it becomes possible!
This episode highlights my two remaining issues with the ashlands:
- inventory management. I've gone back to carrying regular portal mats. If I need metals, I dial my "Metals" portal, bring them, and then I can also build a stone away portal. Since that only happens if I mine or siege, it's uncommon enough I don't need the stone portal all the time. But the variety of enemy drops, the amount of stone and wood dropping, it fills your bag in no time. And for some reason I can barely let myself leave stuff on the ground.
- length of day. With how dangerous the ashlands are, you kinda want to sleep, but then it feels like you're going back all the time, especially with the inventory issues..
Otherwise, ashlands is fire! And this episode was too! Berserker axes definitely make the skill relevant now! Love to pounce then quick kill stunned ennemies.
It really is absolutely obscene how many drops there are. Especially grausten!

Also, if you ever wondered of the name of the DUNDR, my best guess is that it comes from the ACDC Song "THUNDERstruck", when you listen to the intro where they shout THUNDER - it really feels like the DUNDR when you speak it out loud.
Also, the sound effects from the weapon could really fit into this scheme...
What are your thoughts on this?

i think the trollstav needs a slight rework because upgrading it does literally nothing other than add durability. Also i think staff of nature might be the best staff after its buffs
It's possible maybe the upgrades to the Trollstav provide more hitpoints to the troll but it's so hard to tell. If it really is just durability, then yeah definitely in need of rework. It should be clear what an upgrade does.
Nature staff is so good when you know how to kite move into it properly. I’ve only played with it solo and can only imagine how good it can be if multiple people just spam it.

they should do something for the linen capes maybe a few percent movement speed or smt its such a shame that you never use them because all others are much better
