Nerf PWM Module: Select Fire Solenoid & PWM Motor MOSFET Control

  • The PWM module allows for PWM motor control or select-fire solenoid control. It's super easy to install, it takes less than 30 seconds after getting the switches and knobs wired up. This kit is part of the MOSFET board ecosystem, meaning it's compatible with the MOSFET Boards. Just stack the PWM module onto a MOSFET board like a Lego and you'll get PWM motor control or select-fire solenoid control!
    When the PWM module is in PWM motor control operation, the knob can be used to change the speed of the motor(s). This means that your flywheel motors can spin slower to hit a lower fps. On a pusher motor, the knob can be used to change the rate-of-fire on the fly!
    When the PWM module is in solenoid operation, the solenoid can hit from 4 darts per second to 20 darts per second! The exact figures depend on the type of solenoid. The knob is used for calibration to make sure that the solenoid cycles properly. A switch can toggle between full-auto and semi-auto firing.
    Disclaimer:
    - The PWM module cannot control a solenoid or a pair of flywheel motors on its own. It requires a power driver.
    - The PWM module cannot do burst fire while in solenoid operation.
    - A single PWM module cannot control both a solenoid and flywheel motors at the same time.

    The online store is sold out for a while. Is this shutdown, or still a option ? Would like to purchase a complete kit if possible.

    This is awesome! I was curious though, I plan on wiring a rapidstrike with 3 switches to allow the pusher to return completely. Would this be able to bypass the extra 1 or 2 darts pushed out through motor breaking? I would love to be able to control the rate of fire without having to worry about the pusher snapping lol

    • @suild4680
      @suild4680  Před 4 lety

      This kit doesn't have motor braking, so you won't get responsive pusher returns in a Rapidstrike. If you want to control the rate of fire, check out the Select-Fire Rapidstrike kit: suild.com/shop/4

    do the switches need to be plugged to complete the circuit? after dialing in the solenoid speed and switching it to full auto, could i remove the switch and leave it at those settings?

    • @suild4680
      @suild4680  Před 4 lety

      No, the select-fire switch can be removed. You can use the second included jumper cap to configure the kit to operate in full auto. You'll always need to have the knob and trigger switch plugged in though.

    have you thought about a 555 timer relay for a burst option. let me know if my head is on strait on this. but it sounds like i can use a 555 timer relay to make a full auto solenoid then put a 3 option switch on it. so burst would use 2 555 timer relays then full auto would use one 555 timer relay. and if i want single fire i make the third option bypass all the 555 timer relays. so the signal goes directly to the solenoid. please let me know if this is confusing or if it wont work.

    What are the components you are using, i.e. what solenoid model, what type of flywheel cage?

    • @suild4680
      @suild4680  Před 5 lety +1

      The solenoid is a generic 12V 35mm stroke length you can find on eBay and similar. The cage is a 42mm OFP Morpheus cage with Bulldog wheels and a Morpheus guide running Krakens.

    Quick question, what kit if I want to run both my cage and solenoid on one board, but I only want the fire rate control for the solenoid?

    • @suild4680
      @suild4680  Před 4 lety

      Unfortunately, you cant run both motors and solenoid off of the same board without some unexpected behavior. You can use 1x PWM Module and MOSFET Board for the solenoid (to get select-fire) and 1x MOSFET board for the flywheels (just normal control)

      @@suild4680 Not even the Board+ would be able to handle both flywheel and solenoid?

    • @suild4680
      @suild4680  Před 4 lety

      Technically, yes, the MOSFET Board + can handle both, but if you do, then the solenoid and motors will have the exact same behavior. When you do full-auto solenoid where the solenoid turns on and off repeatedly, the same will happen with the motor
