I had two Shovelheads, 1974 and 1980. Both stock running 40inch drags. I found a set of saddle bags in an aftermarket shop that are the perfect bags for the Shovel. The back of them was done in thick neoprene and the sides and front in saddle leather. They were NOT made in some factory but custom made by a person with leather craft skill. I still have that pair of bags hanging in my shop to this day. They are made in one piece to lap over the fender. That is what you need for this bike. Not some square looking crap but real horse bags.
Beautiful Bike ! I just came across your channel in my feed actually. I'm happy to support your efforts and those of other fellow moto content creators. I look forward to seeing and hearing more from you in the future ; keep up the great work and ride safe out there.
This one had been kicking my ass due to an issue with the accelerator pump on my old s&s super E. However, once I swapped it out, it's been running perfectly

My first Shovehead was kick start only. It never gave me any problems and the engine would most times start on first kick.
