    BMW launched the G 310 GS in 2018 while the price was way too much for what it offered. BMW India has given it a massive price cut and it is now a lot more accessible. It sits right in between the KTM Adventure bikes but does it provide best of both worlds? We answer that in today's video.

    I own a 2018 310gs and these are my impressions riding on pavement: very confortable position, excellente for commuting. HP for urban ride is sufficient. Excellent front brake and carries a pillion without any extra effort. For the highway and rough roads, front and rear suspensions give a confidence ride. Cons: low torque and not so good rear brake pedal system. The Bike was not made for serious off-road ride.

    • @karankots
      @karankots Před 2 lety +1

      Well for a serious off road you may want to go for an Enduro or Dual Sports...It is a GS (Galande/Strabe) simply means On and Off road...So any adventure bike is not made for only off road purposes. There are segments Brother Adv's, Dual Sports, Enduros, scrambler, Super Moto etc etc.

    The deal breaker for me was the vibrations and service costs.
    My well kept 2017 Avenger 220 street has got far more less vibrations past 100Kmph than this one. The gear shifts was horrendous. Not sure if that was an issue with the demo bike, but the vibrations is such a deal breaker.
    Apart from the vibrations, this is an amazing machine. Loved the suspension, breaks, comfort and styling. BMW and TVS should really work on the refinements. Hoping that the next iteration addresses that.

      After using GS for 1400km, gearbox is smooth now. Earlier it was very hard.
      Until 4k rpm, motor is very smooth from beginning. But vibrations can be felt slowly after 5k. But after using it for so long, it's reduced and can cruise at 100km without much issues. It's completely bearable now.

But no matter what BMW offer best in class suspensions which has its advantages as well disadvantages. In this price range BMW offers obsolete technology as compared to todays generation KTM modelss....as comparing the two BMW service cost maintaince is on higher note with no presense of service network( which is big issue to look forward). They do provide RSA but at high cost. No doubt the quality of BMW on other hand is extremely great. And to look into both companies are making equal effort to offer something or the other in their motorcycle but if you in todays date BMW has just entered indian market and need to develop its market size and offer something other then its brand value... A person like me if i had to look for value o money i would choose KTM over BMW in todays date.

      The Total cost of ownership of the BMW is less than the KTM Adventure. KTM bikes have bad resale value since they are perceived as chapri bikes. So after a few years the value of the KTM Adventure will drop like a rock and you will easily get another 30 - 50k advantage over the KTM Adventure in the resale department. So the additional 10k or so you will spend over the KTM in service costs will be more than made up in the long run.

      I'm not sure if youve ridden the GS310. I've ridden both the 390 Adv and the GS310 and I will choose 310 any day! It is such a pleasure to ride as it's quick and nimble. The last think you need on an ADV is extra weight. The throttle response, power, suspension and handling is spot on on the GS310 and you wouldnt think twice to take it out on city roads unlike the 390 ADV. I agree it's has less 'gizmos' to offer but a true rider will not feel undercut by the lack of it in the GS310. And don't forget that BMW has the GS Legacy to carry on. If it's not on the bike, it is for a reason.
