  • www-odi.nhtsa.... Please go to this link and report your problem to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Send them the link to this video if you have to and ask that they read the comments themselves. This should be a recall, it is happening in many different models of cars over many model years. Someone said their 2017 is doing it too, 2017??!! That's a brand new car with the same glitch that has been happening for almost five years!
    Our car is about two years old with 35,000 miles. Two months ago the check engine light came on along with the traction control light, the engine began running rough and a "Reduced Engine Power" message appeared on the dash. The car struggled to go 20 or 30 miles per hour, was running rough, and hunting around for the right gear. When still it idled very rough as if multiple cylinders were misfiring.
    We brought it to a dealer and they said there weren't any error codes so there wasn't anything to fix. We didn't know any better so we took it home. We learned via google it's a common glitch and that after sitting for ten to twenty minutes the car's computer clears the error codes, the car runs fine and there's nothing to diagnose or fix....until it happens again. It has happened two more times to us and both times the car did the same thing but cleared itself after sitting for a while.
    The car is used mostly by my wife to transport our two kids around so this is something that absolutely has to be fixed. It is unacceptable that there is a chance the car will be reduced to 20 or 30 mph on Rt 78 in NJ where traffic regularly moves at 70 to 80 mph.
    We leased this car new from Rossi Chevrolet in July, 2014 and we're now counting on them to get it fixed once and for all.
    If this happens to you, find a safe place to park the car and just let it sit for ten to twenty minutes, the problems will clear and you'll be able to drive again. Once it happens though it seems to come back with less and less time between each occurrence.

    Having the exact same problem! Just got my 2014 Traverse back in December. It only had 43,000 miles on it. Two weeks after I got it, it started doing this. Just took it to the dealership and they’re saying nothing is wrong with it. There should definitely be a recall on these. I need my money back or a new car or truck or something.

    I recently added a comment about my car having the same issues. I took a shot in the dark on figuring out how to fix it. I remove the old throttle body with the sensor. I ordered a new one that was a AC Delco. I put the new throttle body on that has the sensor attached to it from the factory. After I put it on attached everything back started my car and I had no problems. So try replacing the throttle body with a sensor on it. and please spread the word

    This sounds stupid, but this issue was fully resolved with simply adding washers to the two bolts on your fuse box. You have to cut a washer in half, because those bolts dont come all the way out. Just trust me. I chased this issue for two years, i cleaned the throttle body, i replaced the throttle body, replaced the ignition switch, did all kinds of other random crap and im 6 months free of this problem after i simply added the washers to the fuse box bolts. It was happening every time i left in the traverse and now it doesnt happen at all. If you want a further explanation of why this fixes it, and why this is happening ill gladly give it

    Had the exact same issue a few days ago. Checked the Throttle body and it looked clean so I was forced to take it to the local Chevy dealer and they diagnosed it as the Fuel pump was bad...Paid $950 for the repair but I have to say I'm not happy about it. I just do not know how a 2013 Traverse with under 47000 mile on it has a bad Fuel Pump and also why it is linked to the Stabilitrak in the ECM...It is crazy. Whoever thought to link this Fuel Pump fault with a "engine reduced power" error in the ECM is nuts and needs to be fired. I am currently talking with GM to see if they have any suggestions or money back options.

    I just fixed this issue make sure the throttle sensor is connected correctly. The clip almost always never keeps it connected. You need to make sure you can’t pull off the pig tail without releasing the clip. Which is why many people fix this issue for only a small amount of time. That remove the throttle along with the sensor but it doesn’t connect as it should.

    I had to take out the LiDAR sensors out of my rear bumper due to them catching fire whist driving down the park’s highway in alaska. And to make it worse is the delarship won’t fix the issue. And another issue I had is it won’t go into AWD at all it’s now only rwd. Or Fwd. not awd. And no clue on how to fix. Another issue is over heating. I just reached 93k miles and replacing the radiator fluid and oil spark plug’s transmission fluid diff fluid the breaks and rotors and etc- and it’s still gets hot but stops fast… it took removing a fuse or 3 for the issues to resolve now it’s staying mostly cool and no major issues. It’s a 2016 traverse LTZ Awd model if you were wondering. Has had the transmission blow up twice and surprisingly on the oregenal engine.

    We brought the car to Rossi Chevrolet in NJ (the dealership that leased it to us) and they kept it for almost two weeks and drove it 200 miles to make it display the fault again. They finally saw it happen and though I don't think they really knew exactly how or why it was happening they diagnosed it as a glitch in the main vehicle computer and so changed it out with a new one. We've had the car back for a few months and it's been good so far. Sorry to hear some of you are having the same problem, hopefully this will help. If nothing else, send a link for this video to your dealer/shop if you're having trouble explaining what you're experiencing. Also, if you get yours fixed and they do something else please list the repair here so others can see another possible solution as I suspect the main computer module glitch isn't the only source of this fault.

  • @Streetlocksmith
    @Streetlocksmith Před 5 lety +3

    I have the same issue and I replaced my throttle body over a year ago and still same issue. But it doesn’t give me reduced power loss it just has the engine light on and it says traction control off. But driving normal. It’s been saying this for about a year and half now. I did have some jerking with the transmission that started a year ago so far it’s happened 4 times. Now once a year ago my transmission got stuck in neutral when I put it in drive it wouldn’t go forward when I pressed the gas pedal while in drive. So I put it in park and shut it off, I started it again and turned it off, and then started it again the third time and put it in drive and no problem with it since and that was about 53,000 miles ago that happened at about 190,000 miles when it got stuck. I’ve noticed slipping of maybe 3rd gear in transmission since at about 70-80,000 miles. It’s went from barely noticeable to very noticeable. Now with my car at 248,000 miles it has no quick acceleration from stopping to pressing all the way down on the pedal, I can only accelerate quickly if I’m at about 15-20 miles per hour. The acceleration problem started most recently at 238,000 miles. I just recently replaced the power steering pump and rack and pinion for $900.00 in beltsville Maryland and another shop told me 2,480.00 that was laughable. When you start hearing that whining when turning immediately replace the power steering pump or the whole system. Since I replaced mine I haven’t had any issues. Also my engine is still fantastic I’ve been doing full synthetic oil changes every other month since I drive a lot I’ve had the car for four years and have put 218,000 miles on it in the four years. And only had these issues and replaced the air compressor once. Mine is a 2011 Traverse. Total money I’ve spent on this car was $2,635 in four years on repairs which seems about average. This doesn’t include oil changes or breaks or break pads and tires and tow truck service. Which is normal separate costs. People do complain about vehicles but they all have issues no matter what you buy. And sometimes you get lucky to not have too many problems. I plan on replacing the transmission for a new one from jasper transmissions. And keeping the car for another 4 years. It will be cheaper to replace everything than buying another new car. I think I’ve easily got my money’s worth out of it. I think the transmission will go out in about 3-6 months from now.

      My 2016 is having the same problem, and has off and on most of the time I have had it. The dealership told me originally that it was because I had replaced one of the tires and not all of them (I had a flat, the rest were nearly new). Now when it comes on, I usually don't have the loss of power, just the annoying dings. Lately, it has had a few brake slips like it did in the beginning, but doesn't lose power. I'm hesitant to take it back to the dealership because no one seems to be getting it fully resolved or getting the same answer. I am now out of warranty (68,000) miles.

    • @ccccen
      @ccccen Před 4 lety

      When you replace a tire, these suv has sensors inside the rim. You have a to read your manual where it will tell you how to fix that. In my truck I have to turn the ignition forward although not on 3 times and I have so many seconds to deflate the tire and the horn will blow and then so many seconds for the next tire until the horn and so on for all four, your computer will go into the same amount of air on all tires. Afterwards you can add air to recommended amount. After that on the road if one has less air it will tell you which tire. The brakes slipping can be from your brake sensor being clogged up, they're are located on the drums,

    Today is 4/20/20. I have the same problem. On the 17th, i drove my 2014 chevrolet traverse from work, suddenly the Stabilitrak light was on, then the alarm said traction control off. It smells gas, and white smoke. I could hardly drive the car. We never had any problem with it before. We went to a friend's autoshop, and said he cannot fixed it, we need to bring it to the chevrolet service. Since it's COVID 19, were not allowed to enter the chevrolet office to check our vehicle. The service man said, they need to open the engine to check it, or maybe the piston is broken..they are not yet sure what caused the problem. They gave us a quote that we need $5000 to open the engine, and $1500 needed as a downpayment. Or the other option is buy a new engine for $7000 which may be higher. Were thinking its better to sell it, then we have it appraised. Guess what? were so shocked that our car cost $1000. We bought it brand new on 2014. Were decided to bring it home for now and ask for any advice/suggestions..

When the main computer senses a fault from somewhere in the car, it causes a glitch that makes the computer get all stupid and the Stabilitrak problem and everything else all come out at once. Then you shut it off and it goes away like it never happened. Codes aren't stored in the computer, the fault is cleared and the service people can't even find it in the car's memory. Where are you located?

    I have a 2014 Chevy Traverse and it has lost power and is very dangerous to drive and the traction control says off with service stabilitrak. I took it to Pep Boys today the check engine was on they said that my spark plug was not incorrectly all the way they put it in all the codes went away they said they drove it for 20 minutes I got it back I drove perfect for about 20 minutes and then the traction control came back on but no Stabilitrak my car immediately lost power and would not drive correctly and I have two special needs children I drive in this vehicle. My check engine light has not pop back up again yet but now I need to take it back to them and if the check engine light is not on I'm not sure how they're going to find it. I recently had the plugs changed but not the coil packs not sure if that's my next up anybody have any advice

    2014 LTZ traverse is having the same issue. Happen 5 times already after getting a new transmission on the car. The dealership has no clue what is going on, I have noticed that the battery gauge goes one down below the middle line and msg board lights dim. First few times it happened I pulled over turn off waited a few minutes and start it back up which worked last time the car just shut off on me completely while turning and did not start up again. Got a new battery after a few months of not being driven. Happen when I turned on the car got the traction msg and car shut off waited a few minutes and hasn’t Happen since. Will replace some sensors mention here and hope for the best.

    Mine 2010 Chevy Traverse has been doing this every since it's gotten colder. I changed the brake pedal switch, i cleaned out the throttle body, I've change spark plugs (but not the wires). When it does happen I'm usually going 65+ miles an hour. I have to pull off, wait 2-10 minutes, start it, go into low, shift threw 3 gears and then it tricks itself to "reset" itself. But it does it every 100 mile or so...I'm about to set fire to it. .I'm so irritated. Having the transmission looked at Monday 2/24/2020 to see what my friend says with the diagnosis. Thanks

      Ours was fixed supposedly by replacing a computer module. Others have fixed it by replacing different sensors. It seems more like it's a software glitch that can be triggered by a variety of different sensor or module faults. Be prepared to take it to a dealer if/when it happens again and don't shut off the car when you get there or it will dump the fault codes. Also, please use the link below to report the issue to the Department of Transportation
