what is living in sweden like, moving to sweden, living in sweden,my experience of sweden,Gothenburg, stockholm, should I move to sweden
The gas prices in Sweden are measured in liters and i assume the U.S have price per gallon
A gallon in US is around 4 dollars, in Sweden, it's about 2.5 times that at around 10
@@HeadGodoftheGodCouncil its 8dollar per gallon in sweden
Cheapest gas in Sweden is around 8.30 dollar/gallon 8.50-9 dollar/gallon where I live. Diesel where I live is around 9.50 dollar/gallon. (ofcourse I have a diesel car)
I’m so happy he showed a lot of stuff from Gothenburg 😙! I was born in Stockholm but grew up in Gothenburg and it’s such a lovely city. Less expensive than our capital, and very open and friendly.
Never herd someone put cardemon in the meatballs... all spice people use sometimes but not cardemon. And I am Swedish and read a lot of recipes but never cardemon. But I must say, we make the best meatballs. Love from Stockholm/Sweden 😊
When you commented on gas prices I think you missed to convert from liter to gallons. At the moment gas prices in Sweden are around 2.25 usd per liter, equal to 8.3 usd per gallon
Regarding the price on food - he went to Coop, and that's pretty expensive, especially the smaller stores. 113 kr (~USD 20) for 900 grams of breast wings is really expensive. USD 10-12 is more the price range that I pay for it (not the shittiest brand [Eldorado, for any Swede reading this]).
In what world is Eldorado anywhere close to a quality brand? 😂
@@KittenCritters "NOT the shittiest brand" :D
To be fair, finding non shitty chicken is kinda hard these days. Almost all the brands are injecting them with salt water. "Gourmetmörad" (gourmet tenderized) you know. So 15-30% of what you are paying for is just water. Quality chicken... yeah, that's real expensive in Sweden. Most supermarkets and grocery stores doesn't even have it.
@@rickardelimaa can’t think of any shittier brand personally
@@KittenCritters Yes, hence me stating Eldorado as the shittiest brand.
The gas price was per liter! Per gallon and in USD it is about 10 USD per gallon!
its for 1 Litre however - dont you usaly messure gasoline in gallons (about 3.8 litre) - so about 4 times as much
Fortunately, public transit is *way* better than in the US, so even if you might not be able to afford gas, a bus pass is gonna be a much cheaper solution.
The apartment prices he cites are for major cities mainly, and at the more upscale areas. My apartment rent is about 400 dollars, give or take a couple dollars, and heat and water is included. My broadband was selected from a list of twenty providers, and costs about 20 dollars a month. Groceries can be bought more cheaply - frozen chicken isn't bad, and basically has none of the hormones and antibiotics you'd find in American foodstuffs. And so on and so on.
Also also, if someone told him Gothenburg was named after a mountain, they were either joshing with him or had no clue. "Göteborg" literally means "fortress of the Geats", the Geats being one of the original Swedish tribes ("Götar"). "Borg" = "castle/fortress". "Berg" = "mountain".
The gas price here, right now, is around 8 USD/gallon. (23,2 SEK/liter)
And the price for Diesel is around 9,50 USD/gallon. (26,4 SEK/liter).
I live in northern Sweden.
hey thanks for doing the breakdown video man :) really enjoyed watching your reaction. Everything is bigger in texas ;)
12:37, 1/3d of Sweden's population left for America due to poverty, starvation (poor harvests) and stuff like religious persecution. 100 years ago, after Stockholm - Chicago was the city with the 2nd most Swedes living in it.
Also Swede Hollow was a commonly used synonym for slum.
When he said the chicken breasts are 20 dollars.. you do realize that's only USD 11.5? So not that crazy expensive when you think about it. That's literally chicken for 5 meals.
Hey Dar, 3.60 Canada dollar is for 1 liter. 1 gallon = 3.78 liter. So price per gallon is around 10-10.5 USD
Be aware that a Swedish mile is 10 km.
Göteborg/Gothenburg is in the area were it rains the most in Sweden. Borås 30 miles to the east is the town that rains the most in Sweden.
And the rent and so on, are based on the prices in Stockholm and Gothenburg, really expensive. In most cities you can get a three room flat for about 750$ a month.
Yeah. I live in Gothenburg and the rent for my completely new 1 room (but still 38 square meters) apartment is 2000kr a month. Those prices are ridiculous
Yes, it rains in Gothenburg... That's why we called it the London of the North. ;-)
... and I think Gothenburg's got better food than most of Sweden - even better than Stockholm. I think it's because they are closer to Scania! :-)
"Berg" = Mountain
"Borg" = Fortress.
I think he mixed them up. Gothenburg is named after the fortress and not after a mountain.
10:44 Who the hell says "drives on the right side of the car"? We drive on the right side _of the road_ so of course the steering wheel is on the left.
The place that he goes grocery shopping is expensive as hell, probably one of the most expensive in the Gothenburg area. We’re I live I get 30 eggs for about 4-5$.
11:57 "berg" = mountain, "burg/borg" = fortress/castle
Two completely different words. Göteborg = goth fortress/fortification/castle
$100 per month on ALL public transport for adult.. including water taxes... its $65 for students and seniors...
street cars are only in gothenburg, and some places in sthlm. but so much anywhere else
That pancake was HUGE😅 - normally many of us eat our homemade pancakes on thursdays in Sweden (after we had our "peasoup with mustard"). Sooo...thats not a typical serving size. We try to go by bus or train to go easy on the environment. (After all - we are the country of Greta Thunberg). The environment plays an important role.
And...I think that your boys would looove "semla".
27 swedishcrowns is 2,65 US dollars. 1 liter is 0.26 gallons so 1 gallon Will cost you 10,19 dollars
3:20 Google Lens, at least in my mobile it already comes by default in the camera. You focus on something, and it translates directly. sorry for my english, i'm spanish and i'm not very good at speaking english.
Fyi, the part about Gothenburg is not true, it's Göteborg, not Göteberg, it's borg (fort) not berg (mountain). It's named after the river Göta älv and because it was a fortified city.
That's a liter. It's around $9,80 a gallon here in us dollar LOL
And when You here him talk about prizes in dollar, always remind yourself that it is canadian dollar
Nice Video from Gothenburg and if you come you must visit MrCake the pancake place in the video. It’s the best👍
to commute by bus, train example is great in big cities 😀 but not in the countryside:( they tak all the traffic and put it in the big cities. I have family in Gothenburg and they do not need more bus traffic immediately because they get so stressed if they miss a bus when there are more in 5-30min. There has been no bus service on weekends since I was younger. Auround 13-17 years
all in sweden love's epa traktorer
Except for those stuck behind them
1500 - 2000 dollar/month for a 2 room apt.. 😂 thats bullshit
You pay more in a lot of cities and towns on the east coast of the US.
That's real expensive even for Sweden though - and even for the cities. I know people who pay 200/month for a 2 room apartment in Stockholm city. It varies so much. But for those sums he mentioned, you get something really fancy.
I pay 800 for a 3 room apartment - and I consider it crazy expensive. So does everyone I know.
The prices aren't really the problem, the problem is that there isn't nearly enough housing/apartments to go around. We've built way too little for generations. And we aren't even planning to do something about it, like even the most optimistic projections/plans is to build a fraction of what's needed. And what we built is so misguided, we barely build city blocks anymore. Just these crime fostering, depressing, isolated suburbs.
This is one thing I feel like he got wrong... Like, I'm always shocked to hear what Americans pay in rent.
US Guys compare gasoline prices
Germans the beer prices
lol gothenborg hasnt BErg in it its BORG = FORT its after our GEATS it means GÖTEBORG = GEATSFORT i have no clue where he got got that from xD and funny thing is Göteborg is our plainest southern biggest city landscapes witout any mountains ..........

that not right i belive we only got two citys i think with trams but they are two off the biggest xcitys Norrköping and gothenburg.
Yeah but this per liter and not per gallon. 1 gallon is 3,8 liters.
Street ars, first time i hear that Word. We say trams.
Street cars, i just know trams
It is one of those differences in english - in european english they say "tram", while in north american the preference is for "street car".
(that divide is continental rather than the normal english/us divide)
And yes, in school we get taught UK english in sweden (which we then get horribly mutated with the US english thanks to movies and internet) and official documents translated to english favour UK english heavily (this includes marketing from gov't to people).
Only Gothenburg has streetcars in Sweden!
Norrköping? Lund? Stockholm?
Kiruna used to...
Karlskrona used to have a streetcar and à couple of other towns too. But as of today only Gothenburg has them,as far as I know.

@@thomasbjurstrom6480 As "slowmoon" mentioned: Stockholm, Norrköping and Lund do have street cars.
Sweden does not have streetcar. Only in gotenburgh
Gothenburg, Lund, Norrköping, Stockholm and several Stockholm suburbs have Streetcars, no clue what you’re on about
