I’m a Dane that has lived in US for 4 years. I’m very critical of the States, but that’s because I care and because I want to see The States being the best it can be.
Something that moved me about Americans was the hospitality. When we moved in, the neighbors came with baskets and offered their tools or whatever to help us settle.
If a disaster struck a town or something, you’d see Americans in rows and rows of cars getting into that town to help and support. I’ve never seen that anywhere else. Like we do that in Denmark through our tax.
Americans don’t trust their politicians to do that for them, and the system is not built for it. So there’s that.
What Europeans often don’t see about Americans is, that they’ve a totally different perception and system that are accounting for many, many cultures. If you’re from a country that rules in tyranny and you escape, the best place to go is the US, if you can do it legally. Their whole country is built for it.
And if you’ve looked throughout history of the human species, no country has ever been such a melting pot as US - and there society still works! Not only is it functioning, but it’s also a superpower. They don’t have a deep history like most other countries have, but the reason why they’re raising the American flag, is because despite their difference they’re still standing in a United front. And that’s something to behold. Doesn’t mean that there isn’t tension or it can be really difficult, but in the end, they’re United.
We’ve never had so much peace in Europe, and that’s by their intervention. And in the foreign policy department, it’s still something Europeans are a bit embarrassed about. You should know different
What Europeans fail to see, is that Americans fundamentally share the same culture. They grow up with the same in television, has the same food chains, president and whatnot. Then as you go from east-west, north-south, Midwest-coasts and rural-city Americans diversify heavily. Way more than what Europeans imagine.
Europeans are opposite. Each country got its own rich history, the people are way more humongous, especially in Scandinavian. We’ve all look at the world differently and in Europe we all know, that each country view things fundamentally different from ourselves, but we’ve a deep rooted history that binds us all together.
So therefore Europeans should be happy, that Americans view the world so differently from Europeans, because then you’ve something different to add to the table. And we all become richer for it, if we cooperate and that’s exactly what we do. That’s the West. That’s the rich countries club.
US are whacky with many things, but they’re also doing things their complete own way, and you can’t necessarily copy, paste any models from Europe. Coming from a Scandinavian country I didn’t imagined what kind of blatant corruption went by. I’ve now an understanding why Trump was elected and why people are voting for him. I wouldn’t if I hadn’t been there, and Europeans have no clue, if they haven’t dug into it, why that occurred. They’ve no idea that many in America fear gigantism, and it’s actually a valid fear all things considered.
In terms of politics, US needs more parties. Having two parties makes up a pseudo-democracy. The extreme gathers in each party, because where are they else suppose to go, and they’ve a much bigger say. It’s also more democratic that there’s multiple voices being heard. Get a proper center, a proper right and a proper left.
That everyone is united in just one party from either side facilite tyranny within and strong arm policies outward and the expense of the American people. And the American people deserves better, and it’s saddening for me to see the state it is in right now.

Is the difference perhaps that we don’t call it ”world history”? It’s just History.
I’m not gonna say we learned a lot about asian history, focus was the weastern world, but it was mentioned.

@@darthetraveler I'm free, I took the whole summer off from work 🫡. I sent you a message on discord though. I thought it would be a better approach since I guess neither of us are so keen on sharing our contact information publicly.

He said: "I like the weather in the US". Was he thinking dry Arizona or wet Seattle?
The US is also one of the countries I won't live in. The US people are fine, as people are in all countries. But the system moulds the people. Please have a look at the US in the 50s and early 60s. The US was a complete different country than now, many people ALL over the world, dreamt about living in the US. Yes, there were the ugly racism, but it was one of the few negative things. Nowadays, it is hard to find positive things. The US can thank the Reagan administration for many of the troubles they are in now. Reagan ruined the USA and Thatcher ruined the UK.
If I were a USAnian, I would do a real thinking, hard thinking and ask myself: "Is this the country I want to live in? Is this the country my kids should live in?". I think I would start learning Spanish. There are good countries in South America, with good and cheap healthcare. In my book, it is an excellent start.
    Europeans countries:
Not many people can remember all the European countries, not even the Europeans themselves. How many Americans, "Americans" on purpose, can name all the countries in NORTH AMERICA? Not many, I guess. Let this be a test.
BTW, before the wall exploded, I could all the countries in Europe, but Yugoslavia became so fragmented, that it screwed up my internal map, so I can't remember them anymore.
