    That's pretty optimistic on your part. I have gotten stones, trash, you name it. I sell vintage parts and there is no serial number etc. Face it, eBay does NOT care ONE iota about a seller.. period!!

      @freewaybaby Před 7 lety +14

      Why can't eBay understand that their sellers are buyers too! Of course, the more sellers they piss off, the more sellers they lose as buyers.... but they can't connect THOSE dots!!! Probably wonder at times why more people buy from Amazon now, but then again, there's always a new group of buyers growing up, so maybe they don't even realize how much eBay COULD have grown in the time they've been screwing sellers over!

      Brian is right about eBay. They will auto refund to buyers for anything even when reported to them. Their so called "seller support" team is nothing more than lip service, and an absolute joke. Bad or fraudulent behavior is supported on eBay!

      That's a very interesting perspective. I run my own business through Instagram and only sell a few items on a site called Mineraliety, so I can bypass customer support and go straight to the FBI and PayPal - and PayPal support is ACE.

      Brian Smith Yep. EBay thinks it small time sellers are Wal Mart and that we should except returns no matter what even though the seller has no returns and got scammed. They are so corporate bottom line now and they want buyers to have all the rights

      Which really makes no sense since we the SELLERS are their source of income!!! Something similar to this happened to me, it wasnt a scam they just returned the cell phone and didnt include the charger that I shipped with it. After a long argument with ebay telling me unfortunately thats the way ebay is set up I actually said to the rep " You mean to tell me I could buy a diamond ring, open a return, send them a box of rocks, and they have to refund me?, rep replied, " unfortunately that is the way ebay is set up, to which I replied, " well guess I will be buying some diamond rings! Have a nice day, click!

    if possible, can you post a "NOTICE" on all listings?.. something along the lines of:
    "To protect ourselves from liability, due to fraudulent returns/item swapping, we video all packaging and return package openings of every item sold."
    it may reduce the attempts of swindlers, lol

    Great video. Thanks. I had an item returned because the buyer said it was not as described. The best part? They filed the dispute BEFORE they received the item. In other words, impossible for the buyer to see it so impossible for it not to match the description.

    Good stuff as usual. Also as an eBay seller never leave feedback first as the buyer the has leverage to try and ask for some of the money refund. I always tell them I will give them full refund if they return it to me. But of course they want to keep the item just want to scam some of the purchase money back from me. If you leave feedback first then you have lost any leverage. After I offer them a refund for return, they usually go away without incident as I don't ever refund partially without a return first. Sorry scammers no dice!

    • @RockstarFlipper
      @RockstarFlipper  Před 7 lety +3

      Your right, i hear that all the time which I'm guilty of doing. BUT I NEVER offer partial refunds unless its a dang good story or reason. I say "send it back for a full refund" period... they either go away, or they send it back. i don't play those scam partial refunds either

    I had sold a cell phone with a few hundred dollars of pre-paid minutes on it for about $90. The buyer contacted me by phone and said he could not access the phone or minutes. I worked with him and he unlocked the phone etc. Several days later, I get a notice of a dispute filed by the buyer saying he never received the phone. Luckily eBay decided in my favor.

    I have actually been struggling with return fraud quite a bit lately. Just today a lady sending pictures of a different pair of jeans saying there was a hole in the ones we sent her. I'm exploring unique solutions such as making my own clothing tags to tyvek wrist bands and even the use of a UV pen to mark clothing on the inside. Of course documenting the serial number of the wrist bands with extra pictures etc.. I'd really like to see a video on these types of things that can possibly be done to ward off the potential scammers.

    Seller tried scamming me, and probably others. Saying they were selling 16 oz smuckers jars and lids, pictures of all eight jars together. I of course assumed that in each order I'd be getting eight jars as the words implied plural not singular, right? Wrong, thinking that it sounded like a good deal I bought two orders.Well, I received 2 jars and I was also billed for shipping on each of the orders even though they came in the same package. So, I essentially bought two jars for seventeen dollars, you bet I got my money back.

    I think is better if you take it to the post office without taping it and start recording showing the product with the serial number and tape it without stopping the video and handling to the worker at the front desk to the post office and IF they want to return the product for any reason... You must send the label with “Signature required” and when the item arrived yo your house... REFUSE IT TO TAKE IT AND TELL THE POSTMAN THAT YOU ARE GOING TO PICK IT UP AT THE POST OFFICE AND RECORD WHEN YOU ARE OPEN THE PACKAGE AT THE POST OFFICE CHECKING IF THE ITEM IS THE SAME AND THE SAME CONDITION AS YOU SENT IT.

    Recording yourself before and after is a good thing to do but most people don't realize that you have every right to open a returned item's box and inspect your product BEFORE you sign anything from whatever delivery service it comes from. If it is not the item that you shipped you can then not accept it and start a claim with Ebay and the delivery service company. Then you have video proof and a witness that you did not get your item back. Plus the cash stays in your account until Ebay is able to look into it and make a decision. Then the only one that is out of money is the person that was trying to scam you.
    The delivery guys will get irked waiting for you to inspect the item, they are on a pretty tight time schedule, but it is not their money or merchandise so they will just have to wait. you can set it up so any packages that are delivered to you HAVE to be signed before delivery.

    I just saw your video. I have been a customer of eBay since 2014, I believe. I just started selling. I don’t make a business out of it, I just want to get rid of clutter. I had one item and someone offered me twice as much saying he would not be able to finish out the auction and that is why he offering me double. If that was ok with me he would then transfer or send a check. I sent a message to eBay without responding to the message telling eBay I believe this is a scam and would not be dealing with that customer. EBay sent me back a message “warning” that there is activity on my eBay that is not following their policy. No kidding! I thought I was sending them a notice about this person but I must have done something wrong. I am too smart to know someone is not going to the legit paying double and not following policy. Thanks for the information on your video. It gives me info and what and what not to do.

I sent pictures to Ebay to show the differences between my bracelet and this fake copy. I even provided the receipt from Tiffany when the bracelet was bought to prove authenticity. Ebay's response was "the buyer is entitled to the full refund" and "we wish you the best on your future transactions". They did not care I lost $1,200 nor that this buyer sent a fake item. I know this video is like 2yrs old, however, the scam still goes on! I sell on Ebay and I've some advice to all my fellow eBayers, you Have to have a Restocking fee and a return policy! your restocking fee should be around 50% so that when someone tries to scam you and they "send the Item back", you won't lose too much money because you'd be getting half of the cash back...
    Also, avoid contacting buyers and asking them if they liked the product or not because that opens a window of conversation and they wanna take advantage of that to say the Item doesn't look like what was described. Someone from India and another fella from Zimbabwe tried to pull a fast one on me because I didn't provide them with a tracking and there's no way that I will know if the items were received or not.. I told them I have a tracking number but unfortunately, I cannot provide it to them because It was free shipping and if they want me to send them the tracking number they need to pay extra $12. Two days later the India guy says, "how do turn off the sound"? and I said what sound he said the background noise, and I said so you have the product??? I never heard from him again.

    Or, and easier way is this: Take it to FedEx unpacked & show them the item. If it's a phone, etc... turn it on & show them it works. Show them the condition. Now, have them pack it. If there is any issue like this one, FedEx will step in & help. This is the only way I ship out expensive items. There is zero chance the buyer can scam you.

    1. You can't block buyers with 0 feedback.
    2. I sell high value items to buyers with 0 feedback all the times with no problems. It's the ones with higher feedback who know "the system" that you need to watch out for

    Hi thanks for putting out these videos. I am getting a lot of " I haven't received my item" I can't tell if these are scams or legitimate, I post via Royal Mail usually same day my business sells low priced gifts so I don't usually send them tracked or signed for. it seems to only happen with the higher priced items and I get this feeling they are being dishonest and lying about receiving it.
    Cheers thanks.

      Well, given your I formation and similar videos on EBay scammer, I have decided I will not be an EBay seller after all. I have sold 3 items on EBay and got scammed on one of those. I am a divorced, 62 year old mother and had hoped being an EBay seller would support me for the rest of my life. However, I haven’t the money or emotional energy to put up with scammers. Again my love for humanity is seriously challenged. Thanks again for your video. Hope your business does well and you are able to catch scammers before they hurt you.

    I did all this on a damaged return they didn’t care about video they told me to go to buyers town and file police report. I had 12 year account and 199 perfect feedback but buyer had over 3k feedback as seller so they took his side cause they made more money from him this was an 800 dollar item and that has happened twice to me now

  • @Truth911-

    I just sold on eBay and the amount was over $1000. I was told by Mary in the department that holds funds and was told that even though the buyer has their item and left me wonderful feedback they are holding my money for 21 days. Just Incase the buyer would change their mind in that 21 days so I would have the funds for sure, to give back to them. That is a bunch of BS! Sounds to me like the sellers have 0 protection! As a buyer you can purchase even high dollar items then have buyers remorse keep them for 21 days and then say you want your money back and the seller would have to give it to you! What kind of BS policy is this????

    Another good idea is...have your buyers use PayPal, PayPal have better protection for sellers. They will not release any refunds until the sellers get the item back in good condition. I never got scam using PayPal services.

    Thanks for this video, just last week my fiancee sold a Mac book which was in decent condition and written as so. When he received the item he claimed it didn't work and had been dropped and had dents our product did not and which we luckily had proof of. He went as far as to ask for a partial money return when we said that was not our item. We happened to check his site and sure enough on sale in perfect condition was our original product serial # and all! Obviously he claimed it as an error but we made a report to eBay because he is likely doing this partial return of $$$ to a number of other sellers and making a killing scamming. Can't trust anyone!!!
