I got a chance to drive around in Salem, MO on an ACTUAL rally road. It was so much fun to do this. The funny thing is these roads are just regular roads that the ARA closes for rally purposes. Its so awesome!

Still on the original transmission?
Your about the only person on YT with a VB that is actually doing a significant amount driving on tracks, racing in Mexico and now on some dirt roads and not just ridding a dyno every other week.
For that I salute you Heavy Metal. 👍
Yes sir. 33k miles and stock transmission. I knew when I started this channel that I was going to drive this car. I believe I have kept that promise to myself 😂
@@HeavyMetalWRX you have indeed. Did you ever change the oil in the trans and rear diff?
@@jedwin4816 negative. Was planning to do it at 30k but I'm so close to my STI transmission. When we swap I'll still drain everything so I can see what it looks like in there.
“Here we observe the WRX in its natural habitat…..”
Heck yeah that looked like it was fun but with the alignment out in the back probably really sketchy!
Where these cars belong. 🫡
That is exactly how I feel.
It’s fun taking them out on the street or on the track, however when you’re out on the dirt and pushing the peddle it feels much different. Even if you aren’t going full tilt, it still is far more of a rush than trying to race or time attack on tarmac. If I was racing in a Civic or Porsche then I’d say they feel more at home than these do.
I've always wanted to do this, wish I could have 3 WRXs.
A monster on the streets, a monster on gravel, and a calm but spirited daily.
Dude now you're just preaching the dream of course I'd love to have more than one as well 😂😂😭
@@HeavyMetalWRX hahaha yeah, would be friggin amazing. And I mean each one decked out for their purposes.
What a fantastic drive
It really was a lot of fun!
Nice blat dude and beautiful terrain! :)
Oh yeah this was like one of the okay roads The really awesome road we were driving at night so I couldn't get footage of it.
I can feel your concentration in this video man! Also can’t believe people live out here in places like this. 😂
Bro I heard the banjo a few times that's why I was scootin 😂
Cool! Did you check and see if your tires are wearing from the alignment issue? It will eat them up.
It wasn't bad, the trip was only 200 miles total and the tires were good. I imagine driving on tarmac would be a bigger issue for bad wear over a long-term versus driving on gravel but maybe I'm wrong. I did fix it It was the first thing I did when I came back so it is now perfect.
I wonder what causes that shiftyness, cause I also experience it. The effect is really amplified on a bridge with a metal grate.
For me it was bad alignment. My rear toe was way out.
Maybe do rally school
I would love to but that is pretty $$. Im Gonna have to do my own at home rally schooling in someone's field 😭
@HeavyMetalWRX MAYBE WE CAN FIND A RALLY SCHOOL WHO WOULD BE WILLING TO SPONSOR ??? NOT ENOUGH INFO ABOUT THAT FOR THE VB SUBARU COMMUNITY AND THEHD BE FOOLS NOT TO LINK UP WITH YOU TO TRY AND ATTRACT NEW SOOBIE OWNERS AND EVDN SUBARU OG'S. WHAT CITY ARE YOU IN ? I MIGHT HAVE TO TRY AND MAKE SOME PHONE CALLS ON MY DAY OFF (FRIDAY) AND SEE WHAT KIND OF RESPONSES I GET..ID BE INTERESTED IN MAYBE BRINGING MY FORESTER IF IT WASNT REALLY FAR AWAY.
@@beaches2mountains230 I'm over in PA. We have schools not too far away. But, they are kind of expensive, and the good programs ... you need to stay there for like 5 days, unless you do 1-2 days. Team O'Neil is like 7 hrs away. I wouldn't do any SCCA stuff though because SCCA is so political, so to speak. Like who you know, not what you know. So, for me, it just doesn't make as much sense. But, NASA HPDE is good.
HEY AWAIS, QUICK QUESTION, IM WAITING FOR IMPORT IMAGE IS SEND OUT MY SILVERS COILOVERS AND I WAS LOOKING AT MY OEM WRX MUD FLAPS AND WONDERING IF THEY ARE GOING TO RUB WHEN I LOWER HER..DID YOU EXPERIENCE ANYTHING LIKE THAT OR WILL I HAVE TO POSSIBLY TRIM MY FRONTS ?? THEY DONT HAVE MUCH CLEARANCE NOW AT FACTORY RODE HEIGHT AND ID HATE TO LOSE THEM. WHATS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH THAT?
When you lower the car almost any kid flaps will run on bumps. My OEM ones rubbed on every speed bump.
Nice my man! 💪 😅
Thanks It was a lot of fun. I'm actually going to be going back down that area myself one of these days to do a little little off-road driving. I want to do some POV clips as well and maybe some 360 clips.
@HeavyMetalWRX bro, I'd honestly be driving my car 5 miles an hour not to ruin the paint lol but then again, it is a rally car, and got to make the best of it!
@@ColFighter018 I know what you mean...butttt...it's a WRX. Although surprisingly I didn't have any chips or anything. This time....haha
@HeavyMetalWRX my man, I'll take your word for it! Living in South Florida is not much option, but I'll live through your shoes with you driving, then lol
Why would you put coilovers on and take a trip before doing an alignment?
It was only a 100 miles and I couldn't go with my current tires and height because of the roads I needed to drive up and down, especially where I was staying. I was going to get an alignment but my guy was unavailable at that quick notice. Also the coilovers were already on and my alignment was slightly off from before.
@@HeavyMetalWRX WHAT WE DONT LIVE IN A PERFECT WORLD !!!??😂 SOMETIMES YOU JUST GOT TO SAY F#&K IT LOL
What wheel tire set up do you have for this? Is it still your street set up or have you upgraded?
I'm actually running 17x7.5inch Sparco terra with fallen Wildpeak trails 235/55. I probably should have mentioned that. I'm actually doing a proper tire and wheel video next week but I'll be doing it by climbing up a hill. So we can see how they perform.
@@HeavyMetalWRX thank you so much! I’ve been trying to figure out all day how to set up my car like this without having to lift it. Did you have to lift your car?
