Finally attended my FIRST official RallyX event. It went about as what I expected. I was dead last but that didnt hamper the fun I had. Driving a car on dirt is such a different experience and I have so much to learn. The 2022 Subaru WRX is definitely a capable vehicle. I just need to learn the ins and outs of the car so I can take Full advantage of the power and handling. I did get one really good lap. Now if I can just do that 6 times ill be great!

Seems like those cones would be hard to spot when you are hauling ass and dust is all over the place.
The size you want is 225/55/17 on sparcos. That is what i run on my wrx. Also I would recommend to disconnect your front swaybar. There are vendors out there that sell disconnectable endlinks for our car. Being 20 seconds off of someone with rally tires while running wildpeaks is pretty good. Having to run in that class without a proper suspension setup and tires will really hurt you.
My. Rally runs were 20 seconds off but my last one where I paid the maximum attention was as fast as the fastest guy. I agree on the tires but as for suspension I'm gonna leave everything the way it is for a other event or two so I can learn the car a bit more. It already moves very well I just don't have the skill to capitalize on it.
@@HeavyMetalWRX Next week will be my first one after learning about how to left foot brake by pulling the fuse, so it should be a game changer. I kind of want to see what a cheap hard snowtire would feel like vs these wildpeaks. No one else runs them where I am. It would be nice if they had a class where you could do everything in mod but everyone still had to use DOT legal tires. Kind of like XS in autocross. Having to 15" wheel swap to be competitive is pretty costly considering you need to run the OE intercooler in the mod class so how much power are you really even going to make on the street? And yes this car feels really fast for my skill level. I'm guessing this is because no one at my local place are driving STIs and evos in the stock class.
Do you ever mess with damping on your suspension, if it has those adjustments?
It almost looks like making it a little softer would help steady it.. I'm still learning too but its a fun experience as long as were not breaking stuff lol
Yea I did that on my coilovers but for dirt I'm back on stock suspension. I'm not sure if I'll get an actual set for dirt events.
Just total curiosity, when you're doing these are you mostly sticking in 2nd/3rd gear? Id love to get mine out to one someday near me but im always wondering managing banging gears while on these tracks must be tough, so much going on at once to think of in your head lol. Big props man, love seeing you get out there doing this stuff
Actually I was like 1st / 2nd mostly. If I had more confidence I'd be ripping it in 2nd the whole track haha.
