      @aurovalencia not even a real pvp simulator tbh. Way back, years ago, it was and it was fun, but now it really isn't, at least for me and my friends who we met each other actually in DayZ 2013 or 2014. Finding weapons takes too long, firefights therefor r over way too early and it mostly turned into pure long distance pvp, since close quarter combat just ends too fast with death.
      With that DayZ lost what it once had and in my and my friends opinion only modded servers making real sense for pvp.
      On vanilla servers not even basebuilding is fun, since bases aren't save and with 1.10 u can't repair tools with ductape no more. And u need to spend so many hours just looking for nails, it's insane.
      We might switch on modded servers soon, while we need to find a good one, with stamina system, protected bases (like u can only raid them with C4 or so while C4 can only be found at helicrashes or so) and without insane weapon spawns/without too many newly added weapons.
      Also we miss the conversations that happened frequently back in the day, when u could go to Cherno or Electro for PVP but instead found urself talking with random players. Nowadays everyone is just shooting.

    • @thebeast8429
      @thebeast8429 Před 3 lety

      @@ThirAilith On xbox our issue is the servers are either way too pvp based or way too survival oriented. There isn't that perfect balance that dayz is meant to be.
      People like DayZ usually for atleast one of these 3 aspects.
      -Base building
      -Realistic survival
      -Realistic pvp
      Obviously most prefer atleast 2 of these things.
      Personally I like all 3, except for the base building aspect. With base building I never store useful items there. I always hide loot inside of wooden crates under water.
      For me, building a base is best used for creating a pvp hotspot

    • @ThirAilith
      @ThirAilith Před 3 lety

      @@thebeast8429 building bases would be fun (actually is fun) if u would find enough nails and sharpening stones. Besides that bases on vanilla just aren't worth it.
      Survival would be more fun if it wouldn't be such an boot searching simulator.
      PvP is PvP, takes too long to find equipment to really say "Time for PvP", especielly for "normal" players. Actually I liked DayZ for how it was back in the day with random (loot)bugs and Cherno/Electro/NWA being PvP hotspots. U knew how to find equipment and where to find other players. We played a lot against other players back than.
      Now u often die right after spawn due to shitty clothing or due to not finding food. But if u survive the first hour the only real enemy r other players or buggy bullet sponge bears. Infected r totally irrelevant at this point.
      The gameplay is casual hardcore like and feels like there's no real direction, cause for a real survival game it feels incomplete, for a more PvP focused game it feels too clunky.
      The lootsystem goes more in the survival direction, while being just meh itself with how and on which places it spawns stuff.
      I still like the game but it doesn't include those special moments no more with meeting other random players, PvP over hours against other squads, forming groups or just simply talking with players. The magic DayZ always had is gone and with all the modded servers the community split into the 3 sections u wrote about.
      It's so hard to find a good server these days I guess

    Wish they'd make the peacoat more realistic. They're typically wool, and wool has some very excellent qualities, a major one being wool IRL retains 100% of it's insulation EVEN WHEN SUBMERGED IN WATER. Wool is also naturally fire retardant, just putting that out there, especially drenched wool, which can be used as a fire blanket in emergencies IRL.
    I actually keep a wool blanket in my car for emergencies, as well as using wool socks in the winter when hunting/camping. Kinda hard to beat a modern ski-parka in the winter, though. Would be neat if they added one of those. The ski-parka I have IRL will keep me dry and toasty warm all the way to -45F. Lowest I've worn it was -46F, but I was still warm as a summer evening even after several hours out in the cold. Dressed in layers head to foot, of course.

    Quick note that I think is helpful and should be mentioned about warming up indoors.
    If you are constructing a base inside of a building that is part of the map (where a craftable fireplace cannot be placed (and where there isn't already a fixed stove/fireplace in the building)) you can always place and light a fire barrel inside for warmth and cooking. For any base, modded servers or official, having a fire barrel in your base means you never have to leave your base and make a fire outdoors or use a fireplace in an insecure building, exposing yourself to other players or the environment.
    imho this particular update in 1.10, along with (cooked) meat spoiling and losing it's heat, is a pretty massive change to the dynamic and balance. I was a very sad boy to log into Hero's Haven after the 1.10 update to all of my cooked meat (half of a car tent) spoiled and useless. Damn you, Bohemia, for not indulging my desperate need to keep hot meat inside of me at all times, damn you.

  • @adam346
    @adam346 Před 3 lety

    if you are not in good food/water levels and you are constantly cold you will get sick.. not you might get sick, you will. Also the patrol pants are only worthwhile if you can get all your other gear to high or better as they don't really provide much thermal protection. Hunter gear is your best early on bet then fire-fighter gear. A pea coat is great and motorcycle helmets are fine if you can't find a face covering and a warm hat. Due to the fact u can wring out your cloth face coverings, they are worth it under the assault helmet but especially any other combat helmet to help offset the heat loss from it *not* being the assault.
    Edit: I love these changes and it makes vanilla so much more interesting.

      Helmets don't absorb as much but don't provide 100% protection like the Ushanka and similar hats do. If you look after your moisture level you can get more cold protection from some hats.

    In other words surviving in DayZ is now inpossible, as you now get colder faster, you get hungry faster, food now decays, and the clothing.you use to protect you can stop functioning overtime.
    Let's say in a sunny day, being fully fed, and warm, you still get hungry in like an hour. So you will have to eat baked food (best quality) every 30 minutes to maintain that apple white. That means you will orobavly be hunting 1 animal per hour.
    It's insane...
