A future project; I would love to see a desert map in DayZ. It would be an interesting change to try to survive in the heat vs the cold (also dealing with the cooler nights)

With food decay and loss of cooked food heat provision, it would be cool if they added a feature to heat stones for a time. Put a stone in a fire place, then put it in your gear and, at the cost of stamina and inventory space, it can provide warmth for a time.
I’m liking this idea. Like keep a torch in your jacket even after it has gone out?
@@Chuklz70 Possibly. Although a real torch after it has been put out wouldn't provide heat for long. However, maybe boiling water and keeping it in a canteen or pot and then on your person would be another idea.

@@dylanm4789 it was originally all the way back in OFP, then Arma, then Arma 2, then just the map ported further on to Arma 3, and now DayZ SA.
In the future, they should impliment a feature that allows you to wring the water from clothing into a container to drink like irl

Hopefully when they add the improvised leather clothing it will be the best for insulation, equal to warm clothing.
It currently is the best gear against cold by a lot in the game files. Whether it stays the same once released I don't know.
@@WOBO Since the improvised bag is in experimental I reckon the clothing will be in the next update, hopefully the bow and arrow comes with.

I played dayz a long time ago for about three days trying to survive the coast and gave up. I just recently came back and I'm glad I did. So many nice updates and I finally made it off the coast and got geared. Of course with help from friends.

What I noticed myself a lot is that your body temp decreases much quicker if you have a wet/soaked/drenched face mask, so if you take it of while running in the rain your body stays warm longer.
Sometimes this is even visible on your temp icon: if you have it on and you are hypothermic, you can see you temp immediately go back to being cold just by removing it.

Run tree to tree by hugging them in the forest prevents you from getting wet, I do this on a low modded server so stamina usage is huge. Yet I don't get more than damp on clothing. This helps if there no houses nearby even if it's pouring really bad

@WOBO - Question for you. In your opinion from testing, do you think the huge jump from Normal (-0.01) to Cold (-0.3) is correct and intended or a mistake, a mistype like they meant it to be -0.03?
I adore all these new proper survival aspects, I'm actually looking forward to playing DayZ again, so I'm hoping this isn't a mistake or the devs just setting it high for testing but intend to heavily reduce it later.

I believe it's intended. Being cold drains your calories a lot. 30 times is a large amount, but you should be punished for being cold, because the cold is a big killer in real-life survival situations. I think DayZ simulates it well at the moment. And I think 0.03 would be too low of an energy drain for anyone to care that they're cold(they barely do at current levels). I wouldn't be surprised if they increase the energy/health loss amounts a little more until people complain, then tone it down to find the right balance. Right now, people only complain about the rain.

i just got back in the game after like... seems like 10 years... and it's really changed. it actually feels like a smooth polished playable game. been having a blast on livonia... but a few times now I've just up and died outta nowhere. no one around, fully geared and healthy. just walking along and BAM! DEAD! once i was in the middle of some forest and just up and died! idk what's up with that?! other than that, I'm liking it

@@lee4318 i just realized there's minefields all over Livonia...2 times i was walking thru the woods and died... no one around... then i got a look at a couple of signs in the area lol. they say 'don't walk' in Russian..''minefields" lol
I had that happen too. I was totally healthy with all stats white. I fought off a couple of zombies, checked that things were still goo, saw my hunger was yellow, so I pulled out a tomato I'd quickslotted and the moment I started to eat I just died out of nowhere.

Would also put details on clothes, Raincoat does not protect from rain? The clothes in the waterproof backpack do not stay dry.
It would be great to take dry clothes from there whenever needed
I'm glad they put such time into stuff like needing to wring your clothes every few metres instead of fun stuff like helicopters...
Just play on a server that uses the DayZ Expansion mod so you can get helicopters
And if you’re on console i wouldn’t really be asking for helis yet cause with the current state of driving cars on consoles helicopters would be completely unusable without the game breaking

It rained for 3 weeks straight.
Had to go from town to town making fires not to freeze to death.

Most efficient hunting would be interesting aswell. What weapons to use, where to hit, how much less damage supressors does, is trying melee worth it, etc.
I think gorkha jacket and pants the best for rains... it absorbency is just 5% ... it takes a while to get soaked in it... Next I think is Patrol jacket and pants near around 10-15%... of course considering other factors too... like protection stats and inventory space and weight factor. I mean I personally found those 2 to be the best. :)

The creator of Namalsk called Sumrak (who is also one of the leads on DayZ dev team) does have donation links I think if you wanna support him but it’s just for him and not the entire dev team

Here's what doesn't make sense to me: how fucking cold it really is in the green, leafy chernarus, because it feels like it's winter there.
Middle of the day, sun is out, no rain, light to no wind. I'm wearing a pea coat (best ins), jeans (medium), hiking boots (best), working gloves (medium), ushanka (best). Everything is dry and pristine/worn quality.
I've just warmed myself near the fire.
Now I'm running around town, spending half my time inside.
10m later I am cold.
HOW FUCKING COLD CAN YOU GET WEARING ALL THIS ON A SUNNY DAY?
The numbers for getting so cold should be adjusted imo, 'cause it's really over the top.

Did they change how NBC gear behaves vs cold ? I used to wear it everytime I could because it protected from rain (and water overall) not getting moist at all, like the raincoat and gorka gear used to be in 0.62. Be a shame if they changed that
I’m playing a little in Experimental also and this is what I have noticed. It’s similar to a raincoat, which are both among the best water resistant clothing. Nothing is 100% water repellent now, BUT THANKFULLY it takes much longer to get from dry to soaking. Each level of water resistant clothing slows the process down. Whereas you now (in vanilla) start in the least-worst protected clothing so anything you find as a freshie is worth wearing

The 50x evergy drain rate from being cold is when stationary right? How does that compare to the energy drain of jogging amd sprinting?

@@Tavis15ify the "source" is Adam himself, no Bloodsuckers, no missions, period, not by him. And you saying the current Fido AI are weak, are either playing on a server with them turned down on health and or damage, but when ours come out in our missions(missions used lightly, nothing like A2 or A3, just 200 zeds with a few Bloodsuckers and Fuzzies), everyone runs, they take five 12.7x55 or better rounds to kill, and they'll kill you in 2 swipes, they're as powerful as bears...it's all how you have them adjusted, just like our zeds, our fast ones are a .308 to the chest to kill, but the walkers need a .308 headshot to kill.
Wonder why...
1) There are no bicycles in DayZ
2) They havent added ponchos to wear over clothing or fatigues for rain protection.

Rebalanced gear?! Hey what is the “time of year” stat you mentioned for temp. Is it colder to play Day Z in December than July?
DayZ servers have always had a time and date that could be set by the admins, even right back when private servers first came in 4-5 years ago. Setting the server date to January/February would increase the chance of rain, decrease the ambient temp, and change the sun rise and set times. So yes, if a server is set to July it would be massively easier to survive compared to January.

Still need help!
Start character, you spawn facing north but you'll need food, water, clothing. If you see a cluster of buildings, not small cubicle shacks but actual homes, industrial grain elevator and garages also have trees. Trees around cities produce fruit but most trees in cities are what you need. After a player or you pass close to these trees in cities they'll produce fruit after 10 minutes. Log out after running beside the trees and check them after 10 minutes. Read about food recipes.
If you food and water are yellow don't fight zombies. If you get scratched, walk bare foot, drink river or ocean water, eat with bloody hands you can get an infection. I wear gloves cleaning animals, wash hands. If you can't disinfect your wound, you'll you'll infection. Disinfected bandage or clean disinfected rag stops bleeding and prevents infection. If you get infection antibiotics have to be taken once every 5 minutes 6 times or maybe more if it's bad. Maybe I need poison relief, idk.
If I get infection I take antibiotics, vitamin, pain relief, Start fire, dry cloths, eat and drink. Either I took wrong medication or infection was bad and I had no meds it was pretty much death. If you're infected and you know yoy you make it find a good spot where you know you'll remember and drop loot on ground. Backpacks and loot can fall into the ground by tall brick fences.
*fast jog dont run or walk.
Waking out in the open you'll be shot. Running you lose energy. You can scout from treeline a city for zombies and players. 3rd person you can sneak around players, melee is viable if you have good weapon. Guns still work its just controls are awkward on console. PC is Lazer controls.
Once food and water are good you'll need clothing, don't bother going into large apartments, it's choke point and blind corners, easy death. There's no loot really up there, maybe cloths but I usually find nothing.
Military checkpoint you can find vests, maybe a gun, light mionwai for litary clothing.
After all that, knife, chickens, fire, gun, shelter. You figure all that out you'll be off to a good start. Wolves spawn you can't logout or you'll die, you have to wait for them to leave for like 20 minutes. If you attempt to log out you'll get eaten, I think they're glitching through walls after player logs off.
Zombies can climb up cars.
Im really trying to get into this game. I get its supposed to be hard but its crazy you start off with no warm clothes, not a full belly. Ibget a cold every time. I can hardly find food and even if i do i cant find something to fix the cold.

This may at some point cease to be enjoyable. When the game just works you every second. I imagine new players will be quite helpless. So what many will probably want, is a clicky button that says: lush summers please. Me included, at least to some degree.
There's always modded servers that are good for new players, but learning the base game gives you the edge and understanding of how it's meant to be played, although this may not be for everyone, ie dying of cold and hunger or both and no food anywhere gets a bit boring and using the same ole guns that have been in since day 1. Modded servers offer a way more options, gameplay styles, I do like the survival element in a modded server, especially the one where you have a tiredness bar and have to sleep to regain your rest level, something that should be in Vanilla, cant forget the Barrets and other insane weapons mods.
Imagine a survival game being about survival.
It's a survival game go play call of duty if you want things to be easy

We come to DayZ because we want the hardcore survival elements, this is the stuff we’re asking for.
I honestly want them to keep up these types of updates adding to the survival mechanics of the game because I find it more fun when the game begins to actually have survival elements to it instead of just “shoot zombie, shoot player, eat food” it should be realistic and complex
If you don’t want to play a survival game then don’t play a survival game, i don’t mean that to be rude but you can’t come into a survival game and expect it to have nothing to do with survival

That’s just as a fresh spawn, when you get geared the weather wont be much of an issue unless it’s raining
Just wear warm clothing and keep clothing in good condition and stay dry and you’ll be fine
