  • The Dark Knight trilogy is one of the greatest trilogies of all time, and is the gold standard for Batman films, with essential takes on the caped crusader, the joker, and many other DC comics characters. In this video I’ll be taking a look at some of the key reasons for the success of Christopher Nolan's trilogy, and what I think truly catapults it to the heights of being the greatest superhero trilogy of all time.

    The Dark Knight is still one of my favorite films of all time.

      I definitely agree! It’s not only one of, if not the best superhero film of all time, but just a great film period, I’m still shocked it didn’t at least get nominated for best picture, I think it was pretty clearly the best film that year

    Heath Ledger was the Perfect Joker in the Dark Knight 2008. He made the character so phenomenal and a terrifying villain.

      I 100% agree! While Mark Hamill and Joaquin Phoenix both have provided good performances of the joker, Heath Ledger's joker will always be the definitive version of the character to me

    I recently rewatched these movies and I have to say, they hold up super well. I even enjoyed Dark Knight Rises more than I remember.

      Yeah because they’re shot on film, and have little CGI, due to Nolan’s love of practical effects, I just think they’ll just always look incredible! And yeah, while I do understand some of the criticisms for Dark Knight Rises, I do think it’s still really good and has a lot of the same strengths as the first two, incredible score, cinematography, acting, set design, etc.

    I have lost enjoying watching movies since the time I watched this trilogy, it was that good ❤

      Yeah this trilogy is absolutely beautiful, these movies have aged like fine wine due to the amount of practical effects, and the fact that they were shot on film, I’m pretty convinced that they’ll always be stunning regardless of the generation they’re viewed in

    TDKR is the most underrated superhero movie. It has flaws but my word it does some things masterfully.

      I largely agree with you, I think it’s a slight step down from Batman Begins and TDK, but it’s masterfully directed, the score is still phenomenal, and I personally really like the open ended ending to Batman, whether or not he died, it works narratively

    Can you rank all your favorite Batman actors?

    • @ScreenedStories
      @ScreenedStories  Před měsícem

      Just live action wise I’d Rank them like this:
      1. Michael Keaton
      2. Christian Bale
      3. Ben Affleck
      4. Robert Pattinson
      5. Adam West
      6. Val Kilmer
      7. George Clooney
      I’d say I can see a debate between Keaton and Bale for the top spot but I lean Keaton, and Affleck and Pattinson are close for me as well, because I like different aspects of both their performances, but I lean Affleck just due to it being a more faithful adaptation of the character in my mind, also I’ll be dropping a ranking video of all the live action Batman movies next week, so if you’re curious on my take on the movie rankings, that’ll be coming Friday!

      Here's my ranking best to worst:
      1. Christian Bale (Most realistic intrepretation of Batman, best score, best movies)
      2. Ben Affleck (Felt like the Arkham games, needed one movie)
      3. Michael Keaton (He was my first, felt more comic inspired)
      4. Robert Pattinson (Didn't really hit well for me)
      5. Adam West (He was campy and hilarious to watch)
      6. Val Kilmer (He's just better than Clooney)
      7. George Clooney (Bat nipples)

      @ScreenedStories  Před měsícem

      @@suryasingh9738 lmao, yeah the bat nipples are rough, and yeah I do think Bale is in the best Batman movies despite not having him as my favorite Batman, and I think I’m not quite as high on Ben Affleck just cause we didn’t really get enough time with him to establish the character, we kind of just got thrown into a storyline with him late into his tenure with only small pieces of his backstory, I would’ve loved a solo film with his Batman to flesh him out further

      @@ScreenedStories When I was a teenager and my brother was a little kid, we played LEGO Batman 3. After finishing the story, there was a bonus level dedicated to the 1960s Batman show, after beating it we 100% the level and got all the minikits. I even drove the 1960s Batmobile on Oa and my brother hopped on for a little while before jumping off.

    I only like Batman Begins, the rest of the trilogy sucked dragon balls

    • @ScreenedStories
      @ScreenedStories  Před 2 měsíci +2

      I definitely think Batman Begins was a great start to the trilogy, and I actually enjoy the second film quite a lot, but I see where you're coming from with Dark Knight Rises, there's a lot of plot holes in the film, and the way they handled Bane at the end left a lot to be desired, though just on a visual level I do think all three are directing beautifully

      @@corymiller536 though I disagree, I see where you’re coming from, it’s definitely not for everybody, but I do agree that actually showing the formation of Batman was one of the trilogy’s best decisions, as it’s really the only time that’s been shown on the big screen, he usually just is Batman already
