It was brought to my attention that the original version of this video was missing one of the parts of the interview. So here is the corrected version with all 10 parts of the interview. Enjoy!
I didn't know Levine himself was the "asshole clown" voice in the CoV vending machines.
I don't blame his wife for not allowing him to do the voice around the house. 😄
Just finished bioshock remastered thanks for doing this compilation 🤡
You're welcome, I hope you enjoyed the game and the Commentary.
I sure did 👌 this game is really one for the books
One of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had, at least in a long time! It’s so cool to see the developer commentary and a “behind the scenes look”, it really makes me realize how much care went into all the things you’d otherwise after awhile sort of tune out or ignore/look over. Plus, it’s so cool to see their thoughts in reflection on what they’ve made!
I really looked forward to collecting these in the game. It was such a great idea. Then again, everything in the game was a great idea.
I hated having to go back if I missed one, sometimes they were a bit far from the checkpoints
At 16 minutes in, i find it so interesting to hear Ken Levine talk about Serene Dawn. Especially when you release that the ideas he had would inevitably turn into Bioshock Infinite.
yeah I thought about infinite too when he said that
17:23 I wonder if this concept of a deprogrammer hired to kidnap a senator’s was the seed that eventually became Bioshock Infinite?
Thank you for posting this! I didn't feel like collecting them all in-game haha
No problem, happy you found it and enjoyed it 😃
Thanks for this. It pisses me off that they didn't allow the possibility to fast forward through any of these. So if you by accident stop any of them mid-roll you have to start all the way at the beginning of each segment.
Completed BS1 last week, currently at the 3/4 of BS2.
Thank you for this documentary compilation, very interesting and insightful.
Glad you enjoyed it, and hope you are enjoying the games as well!
This is a great interview. Halo 2's Behind the Scenes is still one of the best documentaries on game development. Does anyone have other suggestions in a similar vein?
If you haven’t checked out NoClip they have some great docs youtube.com/@NoclipDocs?si=E0gg8nu-tj7C6IIS
Half Life 25 year anniversary documentary is exactly what you're looking for: czcams.com/video/TbZ3HzvFEto/video.html
It’s an article, not a documentary, but Colin Moriarty’s ‘The History of Naughty Dog’ on IGN is enthralling. It’s super long but worth the read.
LA Noire and Red Dead Redemption had shorter but cool behind scenes
thx for posting this. you are awesome.
Glad you enjoyed it!
1:08:50 and 1:10:24 interesting how originally they had a tram/train concept since that would later be in bioshock 2
When people say “Are video games art?”
I show them this game.
The story, the setting and the atmosphere are amazing!
It truly could be said about so many games. People who say that don't understand the amount of passion and art required to make games or yhe amount of creativity.
I show them Inside
biohsock is such a masterpiece in a lot of ways… It would be fascinating if we fan get a game like bishock or prey everey 2-3 years.
It would be nice, but it's unrealistic. When this game came out, it was WAY ahead of its time, and is truly a work of genius. One of the best examples you can point to as a video game truly being a work of art. Definitely not commonplace at all, so you can't expect something of its caliber to get churned out very often.
Sadly games are made to appeal to a wider audience and games such as this don't make the Billions that the publishers want so they are few and far between.
it is hard to catch lightning in a bottle for sure.
My game kept crashing constantly while trying to watch these😑
Thanks for posting🙏
thank you
You're welcome, I hope you enjoyed!
@@AltraWave7I'm sure I did
I actually helped with this game. Back before the game came out, there was a G Studies in Boston where they were testing the weapon upgrade system in "a new game". Turned out to be Bioshock, got paid $60 to play this for 4 hours
Mark my words, I will purchase one of those Little Sister statues.
did you if so where
@@cargo7917 not yet, I don’t know where. Once I manage some spending money I’ll do digging and let you know.
Ok, hear me out. i know this may seems strange, but why Ken Levin looks like Ben Stiller with a wider jaw?
I can see that, they look like they could be related at any rate.
Thanks
You are welcome, hope you found it informative and interesting!
thank you but the audio was very low, even at maximum volume, had to find another video.
Sadly even in the game when you watch them the audio is low, I even boosted it a little when I did the edit. I was worried if I boosted it too much it would loose quality so I settled for a tiny boost.
I wish Ken Levine would create more games.
Hells yeah
I want that little sister statue so I could put in front of my window so I can scare people
I'm sure that would raise more than a few questions from people...lol.
That's creepy, in a way you did not expected.
Its pretty funny to me that people didn't trust Atlas until the devs changed his accent from southern to Irish
Too many examples in movies and TV that have bad characters with southern accents I suppose.
thanks for the upload
7:50 they started with the setting environment as core foundation, to build more fitting parts from ,
Art style inspired from real life location. Big daddy concept from it too as object from same era (diving helmet)
20:50
The Great Gatsby 2013, should’ve been BioShock instead.
Jack - Tobey
Atlas - Ryan Gyllenhaal
Andrew Ryan - Leonardo DeCaprio
I love this game, i even have the cheevo of beating it on hard without using respawn chamber. Wich is hell if youre not cheating. And no i did it in one run without dying. The part where youre powers go haywire is by far the worst!
38:08
I love ken but what the hell is he talking about when he says the first one is an action game and the second game is a stealth game.
Do you recall what part of the interview he said that? I haven't watched the entire video in a while. Maybe there is more context to the comment he made that might make more sense?
He's specifically talking about Infinite's DLC Burial at Sea part 1 and 2.
@@ThirdEyeObit gotcha thanks
i love my dude ken but DAMN i wish this dude could just reign it in and try to keep it simple next time. bioshock infinite is a super fun game, but it feels COMPLETELY different from literally everything that made the first one so great.
This remaster is so damn laggy and stuttery. It really needs an update patch. Or better yet, a next gen patch, like what a lot of other 8th gem remasters are doing lately.
But yeah, Blind Squirrel Studio should be outsourced
Imagine reuploading somebody elses content and then at the end of it beg for likes and such ... Lol
It's lovely how they have spoilers half way through the game in these. Did anyone think about this ?
I’m gonna go with no…or they figured people would wait till the end of game to watch?
I mean it’s kinda on you if you listen to a directors commentary before finishing the game
When you find them in the game, it warns you that they have ending and plot spoilers before you try to view
