I love bikes that can run everywhere, have all equipment and look that good.

Hay -- Just a quick comment! That was a great review for a great bike, Orbea also seems to have priced it right also. Over all the years, your reviews have been consistent and have improved along with e-bikes

Hey, thanks Robert! I appreciate your encouragement. The space has really grown, and the technology is getting pretty refined. I like how this bike looks, and am happy to see battery packs shapers like water bottles. It’s an idea that has always made sense to me :)
What has your experience with e-bikes been lately?

I’ll echo this comment. Appreciating the thoroughness of the reviews and little nuanced details that other reviews miss.

Hi, I've got this bike in black. It is a total all rounder. I've ridden it through rough wet muddy farm tracks, country lanes and cycle paths and I've always felt confident. Excellent range without the extra battery. Yes the handle bars are too wide, I cut 90 mm off mine. Great review as always but you didn't mention the rear lamp is also a brake lamp of sorts. Keep up the good work.

Love the design the tires reflector is 🔥🔥🔥

It's an awesome ebike! Glad to see it carried in a shop, and get to test it out. Orbea is doing a lot right with their bikes, in my opinion. The tires have dual layer puncture protection, reflectivity, and are made with tighter center tread for smooth quiet riding on road... but they aren't completely nerfed, the knobs are deep and wide. I really like the tires too. Thanks for your comment, Savuth Yean :D

Yeah, this was an exciting bike to check out. I filmed it a lot and there was a lot to explore. Watching the review and seeing it all again made me like the bike even more.

Love what they've done with this bike, and it's priced very well considering everything. Also, love the bright frame color for looks and safety. So many bikes are so bland in color.

My wife and I have the SUV 10 version. The Fox fork has dedicated fender mounts so you don’t have the weird strap going around the arm. Also, the newer version did away with the power button at the bottom of the down tube. The 10 has a dropper post also which is quite nice to have. Since I can’t use the suspension seatpost, I went with a Brooks B67 sprung saddle which smooths out the bumps. Really like how natural the motor feels also. I’m use to Bosch CX motor which doesn’t feel all that natural. I’ve not found anything I don’t like about it really.

    Thanks Court,
As always great job on the review.
Decent Bike for under 5k yet missed the mark on not having this as a Class 3.

An ebike specific drivetrain is huge. A big drawback of a a typical mid-drive bike is that they use a standard bicycle drivetrain that is designed to handle way less torque so you are breaking chains, wearing out chainrings and cassettes. That is the major advantage of hub drive bikes. Disappointing that the bars are almost straight with little sweepback, you can expect wrist pain on long rides.

I really like this bike. I'm considering the SUV 10. I wish the battery was bigger, but overall a nice looking bike with some nice components. My first choice would be a Riese & Muller Supercharger, but no local dealers for service which is making me look for other options.

You have incredibly informative reviews, thank you for being so thorough! I really like this e-bike, but I'm also considering the Orbea Gain M30F because it's a lot lighter than this bike... Keep up the fantastic job! 🤓

Great to see in-depth review of this... Any plans on reviewing the Orbea Urrun?
Debating between the two. The Urrun seems like a good base to build out my own hardtail tourer (or do I just get a spare battery for my OHM Cruise!).

They look good! I’m new to e-bikes! I’ve heard that shimano motors can fail & you can’t get parts or get the motors serviced?

I'm surprised that belt drive does not seem to have caught on more for higher end ebikes in the US.

Between this, the Vado SL 4 EQ, and the canyon Pathlite:ON, which one would you pick? Does the orbea feel heavy or difficult to ride if the battery runs out?

I like your ebike presentations very much. May I point out that there is an "L" in Schwalbe. And it is pronounced. It is German for swallow which has 2 "L"s.

I think Range extender last thing to buy. Only you need that too much. Also It looks like not cool.

  • @kevinnashskitchen3517

Nice.. But $500 off coupon would be more like it.🤔

  • @dant.6364

Can’t wait for the ebike market to consolidate so manufacturers can build at scale and we can see affordable prices. I can buy a vastly more complicated and capable Honda Rebel for the same price as this ebike.

    • @dant.6364
      @dant.6364 Před rokem

however, this looks like a really nice ebike for what is currently available and the 4 amp charger is twice as powerful than what you typically get.

  • @BillyBoblovesthedirt

I think that as nice as this bike and many other E bikes are, why do we need to cart a charging brick around to charge the bike. Surely in this day and age the tech exists where we should be able to simply have a cable to plug into the mains power and the bike should have on board management. It’s these short comings that hold me back buying one. Also the 500wh battery. Come on we are now up to 740 or even 800wh batteries. R&M have 1000wh packs. 1 last thing. This bike was 8500 AUD rrp and is now under 5000AUD. That is a fair price. Taking the piss? Taking advantage? Yep. I will buy a new e bike in a year or two and I expect these problems will be solved. Until then, bash it up your freckle.

Yeah, I try to mix it up. Over the past 11 years I’ve covered many Class 1, 2, and 3 models. This one stood out with the range extender battery design, and I like it it looks :)
