    I buy bikes at auctions, fix them up and donate them. The best part is the smile on the rider's face when they first start moving. I have given kids their first bike, I've given disabled people trike's, The completely involuntary smile on their face the moment they start peddling is the same smile Eilis had whilst remembering her first ride. Those smiles are my payment.

    Thank you for this video - very informative - I have been one of your subscribers bemoaning the lack of hills in your reviews and you have responded! I have been really struggling with choosing between this eStarli 20.8 Play and the ADO Air 20S and have changed my mind about 3 times. I am a bit heavier than you and was worried about range and hills and this may have just made me change my mind again! Now if you could just do a video comparing these 2 bikes with a hill and range test…..

      I would be interested to see how it compares to the ADO Air 20S I now have. I want to know if the 8 gears on the Estarli make a big difference on hills compared to the ADO. I do find my little legs go like the clappers on a single gear belt when at full speed. I am used to a 26 gear standard bike where I can have more speed but with lower leg rotations. Customer service from Electroheads could be better but I do understand they are a small company and just try speaking to ADO directly on the phone. No chance. Electroheads need to work on answering the phone though. Not everything can be done through email and it can get frustrating waiting for a reply.

    I'm not going to lie, the appeal of Eilis' videos are 99% Eilis 1% Bike and I ride an electric bike and scooter and watch these videos because of the bikes/scooters but Eilis overwhelming appeal means I would happily watch and listen to her 24/7 talk about literally anything. But even with the other videos I'd say at least 50% of the appeal is the personalities of the presenters. I'm subscribed to a number e-bike CZcams channels and Electroheads is the only one that I watch every single video. I used to be like that with Fully Charged but my interest in their content has waned a bit probably because electric cars don't do it for me like they use to and I think watching people ride e-bikes/scooters is more fun. Full Disclosure: I don’t actually watch that many Electroheads car reviews for the same reason I drifted away from Fully Charged.

      The ADO Air 20S may suit you then. Cheaper and has everything the Estarli has including 100km distance but is a single gear carbon belt. Not sure if that's a plus or a minus for hills and leg rotations as your legs do tend to turn faster in the high assist.

    I went with the ADO Air 20S. Really enjoying it. Bit wobbly on dirt tracks (fell off coming down a steep hilly part lol). Not sure if the gears on an ebike like the Estarli would have been much better than the single gear carbon belt on the Air 20S though. Some steep hills can be a bit of a challenge despite it having 52nm. I need to build my confidence and strength though as I have not been on a bike for a few years and got a bit lazy and unfit. An ebike seemed the perfect way to do that and since I got rid of the car getting around on trains was required. Thus I got a folding ebike. My brother has some issues with his bike and we are waiting to see Ham when he gets back from his break. Hopefully you guys can get it sorted.

    • @biglevian
      @biglevian Před 7 měsíci

      does it have 52 nm? On the website it says it has 37 nm on the 250W and 42 nm on the 350W version. Still a great bike, like my Air 20 very much, but I agree, steep hills are still a challenge. the one gear doesn't help either. if they ever do a version with mid drive and internal gearing, it'd be perfect.

  • @slippyification

    I think it's time that all manufacturers started building their bikes with universal/interchangeable battery packs and chargers. This would increase the resale value of the bike/scooter and give the consumer more confidence on the longevity in the product. Maybe emulate what the EU has done with Apple instead of resisting like Apple did. For me the first bike manufacturer that does this, especially given the current climate will be the most successful and long lasting bike maker in the whole wide world. I have been wanting an electric bike for ages but sadly money and health have got in the way but even then I never see any reviews that mention the lifespan of the batteries.

    • @Electroheads
      @Electroheads  Před 9 měsíci +2

      Talking about lifespan of batteries is a tricky one as different people use their bikes/batteries in different capacities. If you look after your battery you can easily get 5 years out of it (with some degradation in range). Ebikes like the Estarli have easily changeable batteries as they are removable

      It's a lot easier on an e-bike. That hill at just under 8% for 1.9 km is no beginner hill for an acoustic bike. Whilst it's not difficult for a pro or a half decent amateur your average everyday cyclist would find it very hard work, quite a few would probably have to stop half way up. I know I would and I've been going at hills on a regular basis for around 4 months. I am over 60 though!
      Don't forget you can turn most long hills into a real brutal climb. If you find 5 mph too easy try 10 mph, If 10 mph is too easy try going up it at 25 mph.

      A bike with a torque sensor feels like.... biking (but much easier!). A cadence sensor gives the bike-motor an (bit uncontrolled) on-off feeling. The better brands use a combination of both sensors. A torque sensor isn't be used with a front wheel motor and rarely with a back wheel motor. The only-cadence-sensor-bikes can't have a motor with high torque, and is much cheaper (for the bike brand/builder)

    I think this bike is at least £500 over priced for its range, I have a Himo Z20 Max which was around £900 which gives me a range of around 50 miles in level one assist, my wife has the normal z20 which was £800 and has a range of over 30 miles, they don’t have hydraulic brakes but I can add them for around £100 a set and both bikes were around the same price as one of these.
