I just purchased (2) Pathfinder 500 T’s after doing a lot of research. This particular bike suits my needs very well. While folks have a lot of complaints about this setup, for us it is perfect. Two things of note, the key is hinged and folds and you can put the battery in without turning the key.
Your bike reviews are the best on here, so detailed and easy to understand. I'm choosing between the V-Bikes and these Magnums which I've test driven before. Or the Rad Bike. Great work.
Lectric has been doing great! I think the rack here looks nicer and is more sturdy. The wider tire size, upgraded fenders and lights set it apart. Depending on your sensitivity to color and style, or need for a dealer who assembled and supports on location, I think this could easily justify itself.
Hi! My e-bike follows the same design as this one. I want to change, upgrade, installing hydraulic brakes. Can I use sensorless levers? Because when you stop pedaling automatically, the engine cuts out. Is it okay to use the Shimano MT200 cold levers and not use the brake sensors? Congratulations on the channel!!
Hi Leo! There are many possibilities when you're building a bike from scratch. Sounds like a neat project... and I cannot comment on skipping the brake sensors as it could introduce some risk if the motor is powering hard and you're trying to stop in case of emergency, that's why most companies that use cadence sensors do include them. Some sensors can be glued to the brake levers and wired into the system, I see this with some kits and people with non-ebike hydraulic disc brakes.
@@ElectricBikeReview Thank you very much for the feedback. Actually my bike is already an e-bike. I'm just making the switch to hydraulic brakes where the levers don't have input for the brake sensors. I also saw several explanatory reviews about the option of magnetic sensors. They work great! Thank you man!! And keep posting e-bike reviews and tests!
Bringing the downtube in the bottom or middle of the head tube (Dutch style) would make this a much more comfortable bike. The extra support will cause the already buzzy, square down tube vibrate like the crazy. It would shorten the too long reach, improve head tube angle and make it easier for short persons to handle.
Interesting, the bike felt pretty smooth during my ride tests and was very stable when I took my hands off (even off road). Perhaps your design recommendations would further improve it, but the reach also felt good to me. Maybe they brought the downtube to the top of the steer tube to create more clearance for the front wheel and fender, and make it possible to add a suspension fork? It would be easy to swap the stem for shorter and get a more swept back handlebar as well if reach was an issue.

Hey Jhon! Yeah, I'd love to cover more of their ebikes. There don't seem to be too many in Canada where I'm at right now. I have this bike plus the Ui6 and Ranger. It is my fastest Magnum Bike. If you unlock the top speed in the menu you get 6 levels of assist plus 28 mph top speed. Fun fast bike that just need more gears because you run out of pedal.
@@ronh7384 Get the unlock code from your dealer or magnum then go into settings and menu under top speed. It will give you a higher top speed and 3 more assist levels to 6.
This is for the 500W Pathfinder. Also if you hold down the plus button and pedal one rotation as long as you hold the plus button it will maintain that speed. Sort of a cruise control at different PAS levels.
Does anybody knows the name of the connector for that charger? I am soooooo tired of waiting almost 8 hours to fully charge LOL ....any link for a faster one?

@@ForbinColossus Since I posted this I narrowed it down to two bikes. both by the same company, same model just 52v and 48v motor. $500 price fdiffrence
We took 2 magnum pathfinder 350s on about a 10 mile ride today. We started with fully charged batteries and at the end of the ride we each had 2 bars left. Most of the riding was done in pedal assist 3 on average with occasionally using the throttle and assist 5. Does the mileage to battery ratio seem rite considering it’s advertised at 40miles give or take but 10 miles and 3/4 of a battery doesn’t seem even close to the advertised numbers. Faulty batteries by chance?
Yeah, there are some trade offs here… but I think they have to do with the compact size, higher power output, and trying to keep the price low. Maybe they see that the wide tires do enough suspension and customers are more sensitive to price.
I was ready to purchase one after seeing it online. After riding it, I had the same complaints as John. The kickstand is in a stupid spot, no suspension, lazy frame welds that look messy, street tires that wouldn’t withstand the varied terrain that I ride, dumb spot for the key, stupid small controller that’s impossible to read while riding, crap shifter, it’s not as smooth as other hub motor drive trains that I’ve ridden, and pricier than ebikes that I felt had better specs / sorted out the questionable issues that I had. I did however love the very low step thru and upright geometry. Ultimately I got the Aventon Level non-step thru (step thru wasn’t in stock), and I’ve been very happy with it. Also, Magnum has some shoddy reviews about poor work practices and customer service. I’m not saying they are valid, but I haven’t heard the same about Aventon.
Yeah, I think it fits into many categories! The tires did pretty well off road and the frame is super approachable. It’s like city, commuting, utility, light off road, and maybe even good for kids since it’s a bit compact and has the low step :)
Some suspension is pretty basic and it all tends to add weight, especially compared to an alloy fork like Magnum has here. So the bike would be heavier and less rigid. For people who aren’t going off road much, these tires do a good job adding comfort and the bike is more efficient. Comparing to Himiway ignores the great dealer base that Magnum has, and their excellent customer support. But yeah, there are cheaper products out there to consider, and it’s nice to have so many choices :D
I have two bikes without suspension this bike and a bh rebel gravel x. I don't miss the suspension on either bikes. My Pathfinder is last year model which came with street tires. The website offer these tires which seem great for other surfaces.
You refer to the motor as a 500 watt motor. Nonsense. You are still at it, designating the motor as "producing" 500 watts. The motor will Consume as many watts as may be supplied by the CONTROLLER. whether it is 250 watts, 400 watts, 750 watts, and so on. It is rather a simplistic and incorrect mindset that you wrongly promote by your references to a motor having X amount of "watts".
Thanks for the feedback! This ebike is listed by Magnum as having a 48 volt 500 watt planetary geared hub motor. It also runs on a 48 volt battery system. I didn’t get a peak wattage or torque output rating from Magnum, so I’m communicating the information that’s available as thoroughly and exhaustively as possible. Do you have a suggestion for how to communicate it better or more accurately?
@@ElectricBikeReview Yes,I do. Perhaps stop using a measure of power Consumed in place of Power Developed. If you realize what that means, you may be able to give meaningful information that describes Power Output.
