I've been trying to decide between the 1460 or 1490 and I think I'm leaning towards 1490. I was wondering what size to get since I'm usually a 9.5US and I've been told to size down to a 8UK. what do you recommend? I cannot try them on either since my town doesn't sell them in any stores.
Go one size up for UK footwear. You're 9.5US so get a pair of 11UK,which would be a US10
I have 14 eye para boots is it possible for them ?

Cool Vid man I have been wanting to know how to do this for some time now. It was easier than I thought. Going to try this with my green docs with two laces black and yellow.

@rubbershorts999 i recommend you go from top to the 5th instead the 4th eylet. maybe even the 6th. try it for yourself, see with which one you feel comfy. cheers!
Just picked up a pair of new Solovair boots and they aren't quite the quality of my 22 year old DM's. Was thinking maybe try Gripfast or pay the little extra for DM's vintage line. Any thoughts?

I've heard that white laces wear the boneheads. But in my country some of the skinheads clam that they are SHARP od traditional skinheads. I don't understand pretty much these stuff. Can someone explain to me ?

yep, just take the 5th or 6th eyelet instead the 4th. try and you see what suits you best.

what brand and color of polish do you use on your Docs?
I use a non-colored leather creme for "moistening" and taking care of the leather, so it doesnt get rough, and a "shine sponge" for the shine afterwards.
This work for my 7 eye docks like a charm
I will follow this technique :) also, I want white laces, but does it always mean white power or is that color coding just a bunch of bs?
any idea where i could get legit martens for cheaper? or similar boots doesnt have to be martens.. i cant afford new ones :( guess ill have to save mah bucks :P

I've got these pair of solovair's Hawkins 11 Eye and I've been trying to lace them up. The tounge of the shoe keeps sticking out at the end and I don't think I've laced them up that good. first time I've own a pair of boots before.
could be that it doesnt work because of the uneven number of eyes..but give it a try mate. cheers!
Sam SkinheadNation Arh, so your pair are 10 eye? I've tired it.. and it kinda works but the leather around the ankles bends alot, and the tongue is sometimes uneven and doesn't stay straight.
What do you recommend I do? Is there another lacing technique that would work on any boot?

Solovair is a brand.
Dr Martens : made in Taïwan
Solovair : made in England
for 8hole
Dr. Martens is also made in england. but some models are taiwan made

about 4-5 years now.
Solovairs are the REAL Doc Martens now.
Even the English-made Doc's suck compared to Solovairs. They're made in the same facility with the same leather patterns/sizes, but Solovairs have better leather (dyed black on the INSIDE too!), better soles, and more respect for their cobbling history.
I'll never buy another pair of Doc's, but I plan to be buried in Solovairs.

What is your take on lace colors and their relevance today. I have friends that suggest white laces laced like stitches identify you as white power, red laces as spilling blood. I wear camo laces or yellow ones. Frankly I just like wearing well made boots that can take a beating

True, but they're not easy to find in a lot of sizes (I'm a US13/UK12). Plus, the vintage Docs are dark brown, un-dyed leather on the underside of the lacing strips, which looks like shit. Besides, do you really want to give $200 to a company that sold out their name by outsourcing to China/Thailand? You can spend $200 for a pair of vintage Doc's, or spend $200 for a pair of superior Solovairs. The choice should be simple. Solovairs are better than Doc Martens.
