Hi everyone! This is a quick and straight to the point video on how to Straight Lace (Ladder Lace, Bar Lace, Military Lace) your Dr Martens boots! I watched a bunch of tutorials on how to do it, and this method is, by far, the easiest AND the best way to straight lace your Dr Martens Boots!

I hope this isnt an insanely stupid question, but I cant seem to loosen the boot enough to slip my foot in with it laced like this. Is there some sort of trick I'm missing?
@@NicoMojica You might as well just take the extra couple minutes to lace it with the proper technique instead of having to unlace it everytime you put on the shoe with this easier technique
@@NicoMojica Just to clarify, i was viewing this (czcams.com/video/8DkCoG6n8vk/video.html) as the original or proper way to straight lace and this as a quicker/easier version, though I don't even know if that's the correct way of describing each. While the one from the CZcams video linked is definitely not as easy to loosen as cross lace, i feel like it's easier to loosen than to have to re-lace the top few every time you put on your shoes, though that might be subjective and change after practice

Así se han atado toda la vida las zapatillas de deporte no es una forma nueva de atar los cordones ,lo único que no se hacía era atarlas por detrás o si depende del gusto de cada uno y el largo de los cordones.Pero si no ibas subiendo el cordón poco a poco pues el que has de estirar es el corto y aflojar el largo y ya te quedan uniformes los 2👍.

I'm new to this stuff, is there an advantage to lace them like this or is it just for aesthetics?
From my experience, it’s easier to have this for higher boots because of how hard it is to get your foot in the boot if you don’t unlace them. I can fully unlace and re-lace the boots much quicker if I have to. I feel like I can also get them a little tighter lacing them like this.

The tongue on my boots slips on the side it's so frustrating, I think I did this way too soon hopefully there's a way to fix it
Correction I did the alternative straight bar which made the tongue slip on the side hopefully this will straighten it
I like my side zipper to avoid this headache.

should not have a lace crossing in background, on inside of shoe, go in on bottom hole then out on top hole on same side meaning towards croatch, then use the other going over to other side and in then up and out then over then in then up and out

Tips to stretch the leather?
Leather wont really "stretch". If you want to soften the leather, a few coats of boot polish a couple times a week for about a month should get them comfortable.
Wear them that's about all
How long are you laces?
for shoes this size I'm pretty sure the standard is 140cm
My laces that came with my Vegan platformed Dr. Martens are not long enough for this method, but should be... Help?

Wrong. This is the lazy way of doing it. The proper way is, put the lace in the bottom 2 eyelets. Then on one side, bring the lace through the eyelet directly above where it is coming through. On the other side, skip 1 eyelet and bring the lace out of the second eyelet. Take lace #1 and bring it straight across to the eyelet you skipped with lace #2. Take lace #2 and bring it straight across and continue up the boot in a skip one, straight across, pattern.
I had cadets lace their parade boots like this. We had to show them how to lace them properly to pass inspection. You should not see a diagonal lace.

Quick tip. Dr Martens are sold around the world, but of the 200+ nations in the world only three have not adopted the metric system. In future tutorials maybe use centimeters instead of inches.
