Shadow of the day ❤️
What I've done was so great 👏❤️
What ive done
Numb, Nikola
First guy! Last guy was good too. He had more of a Pearl Jam vibe, so he definitely should have been appreciated!
The guy who did "Shadow of the Day" deserved more than just one chair turn.
That made my whole year
yeah he definitely did!
could have been late in the selection process, when judges become abit more picky about their final slots.
I agree, but I would put him in the 2nd place out of these 5, because I felt like I needed to hear a little more than what he sang.
I agree, that was really clean.
Chester touched people in parts of the world where probably he never imagined people would listen to him. I am from Assam(India) and people of my age around me shedded tears when he passed away. What a beautiful soul he was ❤
Chester in our hearts bro!
Yep, you're right👍
Hoi neki?
Jokes aside, you're right.
Most of the covers though, are imitating Mongols from the mountains. It pisses me off. Chester used his rasp with his perfect clean belt, and those people just making it ugly
Yes Bro He lives in Indians heart
That last guy was fantastic! I can't believe no one turned around. He doesn't sound like Chester, but his voice alone was beautiful.
I didn't really like him, he sounded generic
Was a good cover. But that song when sung by Chester has way deeper pain and feeling. Not taking away from the singers talent, but their cover felt comfortable not painful.
His voice sounds exactly like Jonathan Davis from Korn tho.
He sounded like Seven Mary Three, or maybe Shinedown... great voice!
@@brandenneal9006 Yeah, there's a big lack of emotion, the first part of the chorus is supposed to come deep in your stomach, like you are literally pulling out every single misdeed deep in your soul, there's gotta be pain in your voice, It just didn't sound like he was trying all that hard.
That first guy has a phenomenal voice, it's really hard and unusual to have such a smooth control of your voice while having that rasp
And he didn’t look like he was hurting himself to do it.
@foxhound13 Yeah even Chester had bad technique, we shouldn't be harsh against people who don't do it how Chester did it when he did it was with bad technique sounds different from how you do it and some prefer to do it their way anyway 😅. Although he did do vocal training after damaging his throat 😊.
When the first guy hit those rasp parts perfectly, I was super impressed. Bravo.
He sang it effortlessly
Autotune.
Yeah at first i was like eh. But then he summoned the power of Chester and I was like hot damn this fucker nailed it! Bravo.
@@patricknelson you deserve a million dislikes
By perfectly you mean completely wrong and off tone right.
That second one was NOT a battle, they complimented each other so well!! Chester certainly can’t be replicated.. but these people honored his memory, no doubt
Blow away by that one. One of the harder songs to sing sing the refrain is just pure power. His growl went together with her so perfectly. Wish I could download it lol
Felt like a concert
Their harmony was so beautiful!
Right!? They elevated the song to a different level! That harmony in that chorus was marvelous.
I agree. But the guy didn't get the lyrics right at all
No matter how talented you are, no matter how hard you worked for it, but nobody can come close to Chester's voice..
Saw a kid on tik tok who nailed it perfectly
@@taytmw18nah, he did well but no where sounding like Chester
畢竟他是獨一無二的
All of our voices are unique, just some of is seek greatness and achieve it
Think that's why I didn't like any if these auditions apart from maybe the last one
The shadow of the day is just incredible. Gives shivers
Its hard to cover lyrics by Chester. He had a truly unique voice. Hence why Linkin Park will never be the same.
There is no Chester ever…. I feel this comment
True😭
Chester had the angst the pain the anger that can't be replicated it has to be felt. It's like he went through all that trauma came to us helped us with our sorrows and then left
Agreed. Chester had such a unique voice, no one will ever replace him.
Agree...
First guy was the closest to Chester with rasp and tone honestly. He did an excellent job covering Numb
Yep if he practiced more he might be near identical. His Bulgarian accent does come out a little but he did it better than everyone else in this video
You can say that again 👍
Hard agreed. I even skipped a couple
Wow!!!
Check the Tribute Band: "Hibrid Theory". It's the closest i've seen to Chester
This rendition of Crawling was just amazing.
The first performer gave me goosebumps! RIP Chester!
Theo, the last guy, was AMAZING. Why none of the judges picked him will forever remain a mystery to me.
He was simply out of their league....
yes - it didn't seem right! wonder what they were thinking, he did a fantastic job
probably didn't like the type of music he picked, bullshit
I think maybe judges need to hear some others than power
Agree...this guy is good.. And pure.
1:04 Damn the spirit of Chester 🙂
yepp, thats so chester
Uncanny
darn right
Yea that dude nailed it going into the bridge
that’s incredible!
Guy who did Shadow of the day was on point. Deserved more. RIP Chester, your voice and message is ageless. ❤
Chester is insuperable ... he could touch our hearts with his voice and he still does through his legacy . One of the darkest days for the music the day he left us . May his soul R.I.P. We thank you legend .
That Crawling duel was incredible!
YES
Yes x2
Is like the live perfomance of crawiling with Criss Cornell
@@Orzerick on point .
YES!
There's a reason you don't see many auditions with songs by certain artist, such as Adele, Linkin park. I like to think Chester's voice is too iconic that judges are thinking, "it was good, but it wasn't Chester." That's such a high bar to reach for.
Yeah choosing a song like numb or any of the iconic ones isn't a smart choice unless you pull it off real good
Didn't Chester best Adele ?
Chester is definitely not all that, and Numb is not an iconic song, just popular.
@The quiet kid Linkin Park gains fans because of the success of Hybrid Theory and its mix of various genres, from Rap to Rock to Electronic, Numb has none of that, it's just generic Pop Rock, worst song on the album, Nobody Listen or Hit The Floor should have been singles instead of him. Meteora and consequently Numb gain success over the previous album, even though it is only a simplified and worsened version of it.
Linkin Park never rehasped the Rock. They are far from being the first to do Rap Rock, bands like Run DMC, Faith No More, Public Enemy, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Rage Against the Machine have done it MUCH before, they are also not the first to put electronic sounds in the middle of rock.
Just remember also that the band is still complete, only ONE of the vocalists died, so it doesn't make their success more impressive.
@@d3v3n_51ngh "any of the iconic ones"... this comment doesn't make any sense, Mike and Chester's best performances are on unknown songs and demos
All great performances, but this proves that there will never be another like Chester…..RIP to the GREATEST…
Damn that shadow of the day cover just brought out a tear. He was so damn good. I’m pretty proud of my singing ability but damn he was great too. I need his full version of the song
My God that Shadow of the Day cover was soo good. That man felt that song down to the chord.
Agreed…..
The later end was actually good but his starting point wasn’t high enough…
He was definitely the best.. imo
The guy who sang “shadow of the day” really gave me goosebumps 😱
He hit so many of the right notes
I dont care its 6 months ago, the same feeling all over again my brother.
Agree, don`t know why only one of judges pressed the button
Greatest clip in the whole video.
That's easy song
Chester has always been the best rock singer and has always had the best voice for rock and alternative songs.
Rip Chester Bennington you will be missed lot you deserved to live longer
06:50 the judges did him dirty there. That cover of Shadow of the Day was fantastic!
Fcts
And the person who sang what I’ve done… should’ve gotten at least 3 people saying “I want you”
The gentleman who covered “shadow of the day” just…wow. The way he sang, he understands the song. Goosebumps. Flipping amazing.
Instant tears for me, Chester helped bring me through those teens years.
That cover was fantastic. He did amazing. Def his own flavor while still a faithful creation. I like that he didn't try too hard to do Chester's voice but also didn't do something totally different.
agreed fully
His cover like "Shadow of the day" in "The Messenger" style, but I love that
He nailed it
Chester’s Voice tone was unique no one is even close to compare him
Forever music. RIP Chester
The most peculiar thing about all these covers i have seen is that no one ever replicates Chester. His voice and talent were so unique, it's not even once in a lifetime, it's like once in a world history. Chester was so good that just getting "kind of close" is an achievement. No one expects you to actually do the impossible and nail it.
9 months since I made this comment and people are still reading it and being affected by it. That's super cool!
To the people that say cover-artists are not supposed to replicate the exact voice, but put their own spin on a song. This is of course a matter of opinion, since many cover artist DO try to replicate the original and are succesfull doing it. However, my point was not that cover artists should try to replicate Chester. It was simply that even the cover artist that DO try to replicate it (there are a bunch) only ever "gets kind of close".
The closest one I've heard is Eric Emery.

There are tons of people that can replicate Chester. You just need to find Americans. Americans tend to be the best at singing songs in english. Robert Plant was thought to have one of the best voices in 70s rock and couldn't be replicated until Josh Kiszka from Greta Van Fleet came around.
The first guy was really impressive
No kidding
What is his name?
Nikola Zdravkov
I agree. His voice is so clean for a Linkin park song where you can repeat his act over and over.
First guy was alright then boom 💥 😮 nailed it 👌 👏 👍 🙌 😎
literally crying when I heard them screaming Crawling in my skin!!!!😭❤
1:03

Non sound like Chester...but appreciate so many ppl life he as touched and...left us soooo young😢😢😢😢😢😢
To those who came to this video after seeing the thumbnail, no, he doesn't sound much like Chester. Still sounds good though.
That duet of Crawling (second clip) absolutely gave me chills. Those 2 had amazing stage chemistry too.
I felt the same thing
If The Voice here in the USA would have more singers and auditions like the overseas versions shown here do, I'd be likely to watch the show more. But alas, we're stuck with country and pop performances most of the time...
🙄
Two people that truly know how to sing with others. There's an skill to signing with others/groups and these two have it. You could tell that while they were supposed to be dueling, they were matching each other in a way that would be pleasant to everyone listening.
@@dawnz909 Sad but true.
Same
Bruh, i think Chester's Voice is one of the most dificult ones to cover or copy. Its really hard, unique. Nothing compares
You are right nothing compares people can come close but yet to far away
@@oswaldjenkins8557 yeah none of these even came close at all. I mean props for trying but certain voices should never be attempted to sound like.
Agreed. Everyone on this video is so cringy. If you can't hit the notes, or at least get close you should perform the song. Otherwise you're shitting on his grave.
Chester's voice is so crazy when you break it down. It's like 2 voices complimenting each other coming out of the body at the same time. Adam Gontier I would argue has just as unique voice when it comes to the ranges with 2 tones in a single voice.
@@brentjack9587 gontiet is good but not that good, his sound actually comes a lot from vocal damage and not purposeful skill.
Theo Bormann, you are amazing! Such a passionate voice. Loved the performance.
He was excellent. Those judges need hearing aid.

I was so young when hybrid theory came out and I fell in love with LINKIN PARK and those songs have only gotten better with time. We love you Chester
I CAN'T BELIEVE no one turned for the last guy, Thoe Bormann!! What I've Done is such a hard song to cover but he did such a beautiful job and added some of his own personal touch to it. Loved it! Those judges were insane!
I agree. He did a fantastic job with that song.
Did way better than the guy from Slovakia if I am not mistaken
Unfortunately his high notes weren't hitting.
For reals...
I was dumbfounded...
I loved the last two the most tbh and they had the least amount of chair turns like seriously what kind of judges were they performing for
Mark and Stefanie completely killed crawling, the contrast between their voices was absolutely insane
Sounded like the version of crawling from the Reanimation album
OMG yes, spine tingling and beautiful. absolutely loved each of them but combined it was something even better
She sounded awesome , but him.... not that good, even tho it was a contrast , he just didn't git there 😮, im sorry had to say it
That shouldnt even be a contest, thats a performance alone.
I liked Mark but Stefanie utterly destroyed him in that battle

Its honestly incredible the influence and impact that Linkin Park has had on people all over the world thruout the years. The lyrics and feelings conveyed in their songs r so relatable to everyone in some way, shape, or form. It saddened me so much when I learned of his passing. Truly one of the greatest talents of our generation. And will be deeply missed

I kinda thought it was aweful
The guy kinda brought it down a bit for me. But for sure the moments where they alternate one of them singing and the other screaming were done really well, especially as the other commentator mentioned that insecure part at the end
I feel the 1st singer is the closest manage to hit the “growl” den back to a normal high pitch notes.. very good vocal controls.. and he can sing with his eyes open.. meaning its natural for him while singing with eyes close like for some of the other contestants means its like they are trying to mimic chester’s voice as close as they can to impress the judges..for a competition or even performing live is important as eye contact is where the singer connect with his audience
Right he had the fry sounding scream going pretty well
Imagine you sing in front of your friends with eyes closed, and when you finish the song you open your eyes they're gone..
As someone who has done "Don't Stay" for a local talent show, fry is hard, and if you don't do it right, you'll be feeling it for weeks if not years if you fuck up enough.

Freddie Mercury & Chester are 2 choices that will never be back on earth, such unique tones and power... it's once in a century, or once in the history
Classic generic comment talking about Chester and Freddie Mercury as the best singers, but I say they are not all that, not even close to what they say, they are overrated because they died, and that's it. There are MUCH better singers than them, singers alive and dead, like Mike Shinoda himself (he doesn't scream well, but he sings better and with more emotion, see No Roads Left for example) Scott Weiland, Layne Staley, Chris Cornell, Serj Talakian ( I must have spelled it wrong), Corey Taylor (this guy is like Mike and Chester together, see Spit It Out and Duality for an example), and probably the best and most versatile vocalist in history, Mike Patton, this guy has done since Rap and Metal to Italian music, he reached 6 octaves (Freddie only reached 4, and Chester 3 if I'm not mistaken), changed voice all the time (see Stripsearch and Midlife Crisos for an idea), it was AMAZING in live performances and it was really funny, he just wasn't good with lyrics, at least on The Real Thing. Speaking of live performances, Chester wasn't that good at them, he has some DEPLORABLE performances, especially several Faint and 2017 performances.

Chester indeed poured his heart and soul in his lyrics. Through time, you can see the hurt, the scars, the trauma and the start of a healing process...
When I was listening to LP as a teenager, I think I didn't fully understand how deep the lyrics were. Now, as a grown man and Chester being gone, I can't listen to à single LP song without earing the cry for help that these songs were...

Not saying that any of these are "bad" but this just showcases how great Chester really was. He is unmatched
I didn't like any of them really
That’s what I always say. They’re good, but it puts in perspective how good Chester was. Perfection.
They lack the rasp of the voice.
Not bad but if you basically take away what his signature voice was, isnt that much of a cover more than a remaster of sorts
The first guy is the only guy that sounded similar to Chester, especially at 1:05-1:24 the rest aren't close to Chester's voice compared to the first guy.
