    About Nicholeen Peck
    ========================
    Despite your best efforts at raising children, is your family dysfunctional? Do your children set the rules and have control of your home instead of you? Are you looking for parenting skills that will help you create a united, happy family?
    Then meet Nicholeen Peck, one of the world’s most effective parenting experts. Whether you want to fix child behavioral issues, create more unity in the home, or simply strengthen your family relationships, her proven system - Teaching Self-Government - can help you turn chaos into calm.
    "People are starving for help to save their families," says Nicholeen.
    Since 1999, her seminars, workshops, one-on-one training sessions, parenting videos and books have helped thousands of families worldwide regain peace, be happy and maintain unity in their home. The secret? Learning how to use effective family systems based on parenting that’s deliberate and pro-active (instead of reactive). It all starts with the principles of self-government. If you’re a family of faith, you’ll especially love how your faith and values can be woven into her parenting system.
    In 2009, Nicholeen and her husband starred in the BBC reality TV show, “The World’s Strictest Parents” (watch here: bit.do/StrictestParents). She became an overnight sensation by turning around two out-of-control teenagers from England after just one week - without shouting, threats or manipulation. Her amazing success comes from the positive parenting techniques of using calmness, effective communication and principles of self-government.

    So how do I do these things with someone who is also manipulating meaning she can go anywhere with anyone (but me) and does what she’s supposed to or act respectful but when it’s around me she actually hates me so she chooses to do everything but what I have set for rules mind you this is a sister who became my child

    Yes, I feel like all we do is discipline . . . Consequences, consequences, consequences. It is miserable and kids and parents are not liking each other very much

      I totally get that. If there isn't enough praise mixed in with the consequences, it can seem exhausting for both parties.
      Here is a video that could help you with praising:

    As a team leader youth worker, who looks after 10 troubled teens. This is a great start. It’s so true. Build a rapport with them, engage with them, get to know them. Always have a calm tone but stern when need to be, because cause this tactic doesn’t work over night like she said

  • @monikarohfeld
    @monikarohfeld Před rokem +2

    This is very broad. It is not usually a given especially with teenagers with PDA to connect. Add autism into the mix and it’s even more complicated. This is a decent start with a regular rebellious teenager however won’t work on more difficult cases that are anxiety based.

      @TeachingSelfGovernment  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Thank you for your thoughts. I do have to disagree with you, as I've seen this work with many teens who are anxious and some who have autism as well. The predictability is something autistic children latch on to and love!

    I have been working as a Drill Instructor at an alternative education military school for at-risk youth for the past twelve years. During my tenure, I have encountered a number of students who exhibit the same behavioral problems you discussed in your video.
    Many parents have high expectations for their children's improvement, and as a Drill Instructor, I have found it challenging to develop a rapport with students who are resistant to the military structure. While some students have responded positively to my strict approach, many do not share the same level of enthusiasm.
    I would appreciate any suggestions you might have to improve my instructional approach in this context.

      I don't know enough about your situation (family culture, social culture, etc.) to give you specific advice, but I can tell you one thing: the only person you can control is yourself, which means you can choose calmness and maturity. You can choose to show love for someone, even if they are choosing not to show it to you. You can decide that you aren't going to continue with the same behaviors that you're surrounded with if they don't match what you feel is best for you and your family. You can choose to improve yourself by deliberately learning skills and principles that will help you become a better, more well-rounded person. There are lots of options, even if it seems like there aren't. This option that I offer for free has been a huge blessing for many people, whether they have children or not:

      I hope that helps some!

    Im an adult who doesnt care about consequences either and still other people try to punish and discipline me 😅 im 45...like that didnt work with my parents...why would that work with me 😂
    On the other hand i drove a school bus for 2 years with 50 teens and preteens. Never had any issues with them because i cared to listen to their issues and i was fair with them and adressed issues on a personal level rather than just writing them up and complaining to their parents.
