Shingle Laying - The Rhythm

When installing the shingles, start with the bottom four rows. Do not install just one row at a time. Lay the shingles in a diagonal pattern to maximize efficiency. You will want to install the shingles left side lock first and then proceed to slide the shingle up and into place. Start from below the shingles so you can push up and down to position them correctly.
The pattern of the install depends on what style of shingle you are using. The shingles will either have 1 mark or 2 marks.
If your system has one mark you will install the shingles in a full shingle, half shingle pattern, moving up the roof. If it has 2 marks you will install them in a random pattern using the marks as a guide.
Install the shingles in a diagonal pattern and then continue back down the roof, nailing in the shingles. This will save time instead of simply installing 1 shingle and nailing 1 shingle.
If two people are working together, one can install the shingles, while the other nails them in place.
