OMG now I really want to eat this. This is my absolute favorite, we Malaysians call it pulut durian. Many vendors here just give the durian on the side instead of infusing it in the coconut milk and definitely don't give enough, so i'm exited to make this soon and eat! :-)

I just tried durian for the first time the other day and it's AMAZING! I honestly don't understand why so many people cant stand it. I really wish it was more available here. This looks so good. I'm definitely going to try it next time I find durian.

My favorite dish, too! I love durian a lot. Unfortunately, many people had bad durian for their first experience and hate it as a result. They miss one of the most delicious fruits in the world. The just-ripe ones are yummy and not stinky at all.

My Thai-Malaysian friend taught me to eat this by mixing it all thoroughly until it looks goovy (sticky rice + coconut milk + durian). It tastes so heavenly. It does not taste just as good if you don't mix them (mixing it when you are ready to eat and not mixing it during cooking time)

Love love durian, both fresh and in concoctions like cream puffs and the like.
For some reason it smells strong but not garlic or sulfurous pungent (I tend to feel that eggs and alliums are on the sulfurous department), more like a slightly invasive fruity floral scent. And it tastes weirdly similar to Augmentin antibiotic suspension I took when I was a kid so it's not "new" to my palate.

Do you know that you can boil durian seeds in slightly salted water for 15-20mins, peel the skin and eat it like you eat boiled jackfruit seeds? It's kinda creamy and tasty! I have to say though, it's an acquired texture! You need to try if you haven't! Side note, don't throw away the durian shell! Fill the empty groove with water where the nuggets were and add a little salt. Drinking this mixture cools your body heat down according to old wives tales! Also, have some tap water running down the durian spine/husk and wash your hands over this flow! Apparently, it would magically remove residual durian odor better than with handwash! Try these hacks and let me know what you think of them! =D

    Hi, Pai, got questions:
    (1) is there any other tropical fruit, other than the durian or mango, going well with the pandan-flavored coconut sticky rice as a dessert? what about the red beans, jackfruit?
    (2) do Thai people put the durian chunks and the mango slices together into this dish?
    (3) do Thai people just enjoy the coconut sticky rice by itself, without fruit? or with peanuts?
    Thank you for your video!
