- We had to try this Durian Sticky rice - especially because it's from a Michelin rated restaurant! Durian is known in Thailand as the King of Fruits. It's pretty clear to see why! We went on a Thai street food adventure and went down to Kor Panich in Bangkok Thailand to try it for ourselves. Trying durian is something that we did fairly recently, so we had to try the MIchelin ated durian! Street food Thailand is something really special - and we recommend you visit this mango sticky rice shop that's on the Bangkok Restaurant Guide. Seriously, if you like street food - specifically Thai street food, you need to try this Thai dessert - durian sticky rice!

Used to eat it very often at the Pratunam/Central World intersection. Two ladies had a very clean, nice stall with mango sticky rice and durian sticky rice. It was always so tasty! They could still be there. That corner has always been known for great street food.

I have tried six varieties so far this trip. If you want the best Monthong, go to Or Tor Kor market near Chatuchak. It's also just a great place to go for breakfast/lunch. Pick-and-choose options are amazing. Another place to buy great Monthong durian is to get it at a Topps supermarket. Just make sure to get the premium version, not the one with a sticker that reads "ready to eat." The latter is very ripe and a bit mushy, and therefore less appealing to many. The premium texture, smell and taste is perfect. It's worth the extra price. Or Tor Kor has several varieties.
We loooved Or Tor Kor! The durian was delicious, we are still thinking about it weeks later!
@@thisunchartedworld Yes. It's so wonderful, and clean. The choices of food...omg. I could eat there every day. There's a fabulous curry restaurant on the Thonburi side that rivals it. Roaming Cook Gary featured it. It lived up to his praise, I can tell you. I will circle back with the name.

Durian glutinous rice was actually concocted so poorer people could afford to savour durian. It will never be as flavourful as the fresh durian eaten alone. Mango glutinous rice on the other hand, compliment each other to make a delectable dessert.

As a Thai, this menu recommend to Durian lover but not for the Durian beginners, for the first time to taste Durian, I recommend trying Durian Ice cream at Swensen Ice cream shop in Thailand

Actually, we eat durian sticky rice this way. We also add sweet coconut milk over, that called khao neaw(sticky rice) num ka-ti(coconut milk) durian.

Besides durian, mango,
Jackfruit and Champada can also be eaten with sticky rice( kaow niew muun)or sticky rice with coconut milk.
Cool! I bet the jackfruit one would be really good 😋
But we made it by steam the jackfruit with the sticky rice in banana leaf not soak with coconut milk like Durian

Durian has different textures depending on its age. Durian that has texture crispy on the outside and soft on the inside is the most favorite one, the smell is not as strong as you might think. But if the durian is too old or too ripe The texture will be messed up and has a strong smell you have to try it once You may change mind to like it. Your video is great, so enjoy the way you filmed it. Oh I prefer Mango Sticky Rice than Durian Sticky Rice but Durian the best for me.

I love Durian Sticky rice in coconut milk as much as Mango Sticky rice but I don't like to eat a hot one so I always put durian coconut milk in the fridge to make it cold and taste so much better.

I agree, I prefer it cold and just put only the Durian coconut milk in the fridge not the sticky rice coz the fridge will make sticky rice hard and lose its texture

for mango sticky rice, we use white sugar in the thicker coconut cream but for durian sticky rice, we pour much more watery coconut sauce with different aromatic sweet from palm sugar, and may eat warm.

What you had was old-fashioned or you may say authentic durian sticky rice. As a Thai and as far as I know, the cook will first boil coconut milk and mix it well with some durian meat. I am not sure if palm sugar and a pinch of salt are also added. The result is thick coconut milk and durian syrup. The merchant will pour this syrup over sticky rice to be served in a small bowl. A piece or more of durian meat is put later as topping to complete the preparation. That is the reason why the dish was still warm when served at your table. For me, it is too sweet and I personally don't like it. Cheers!

I suggest you, should try mango sticky rice but don't try durian stick rice. Cause durian stick rice very strong smell. The best way to eat durian just eating when it has a little bit smell before be mushy.
