- Thinkware revealed a bunch of cool dashcams at CES this year including a 4 channel, 4K, and IoT dashcam, as well as some cool ADAS tech and the M1 motorsports dashcam we saw at the last CES.
The M1 motorsports dashcam is now available: geni.us/DqkAeh (Amazon)

Years later and still never made. Thinkware there is a market for it. I would buy it in a heartbeat
been waiting forever for this vid! THANKS MAN!
There are aftermarket tools to bypass the camera lockout when your driving for vehicles with backup cameras and 360 camera systems.. so they should look at making a black box for the existing cameras on the vehicles.
That's a good idea. I have a mercedes gl450 that has cameras everywhere. All I would need is something to enable them to perform these functions instead of just being a fancy birds eye view for basic parking purposes.
You’re*
@@dom718293 OMG the spelling police.
Sign me up for the 4k with 2k rear. I've been waiting for exactly this!
It’s been almost 3 years since this video was posted. Are these 4ch cameras with exterior side view on the market? I want something similar to Tesla’s side cams to record the creeps keying my car.
I'll take that 4ch with a 4k front, 2k rear, and 1k sides 😁
When he said 1080p i was like what is this 2003? Next
I've already figured out the spots I'd put those Thinkware cameras on my car. The side cameras would go to where the badges are since I'd like to take those off. Everything else would be cake! Man I hope they sell it!!
They need to make this I've been looking for this for years
YES! A four channel dash cam!!! 😁👍
side cameras are mounted above the wheel wells? Did i hear that right? So they will be mounted using adhesive or something? I can't see it looking very stealth or appealing for that matter.
side cameras = brilliant. for those too forward focused to look in their mirrors, having both sides and rear cameras on a small screen in front of you is a wonderful solution and could not only prevent accidents, but save lives.
Vortex radar: Any recommendations for a side dash cam? I have a BlackVue 2ch, but Ive been looking around for a dash cam that would record the sides very good, and no display. Thanks
I want to buy the 4channel camera! When will it be for sale? Does it still record activity when vehicle is parked?
4 channel.... just take my money.
I've waited so long for a my perfect 2 channel, I might as well wait for the perfect 4 channel. LoL
What is the fps for that 4 channel system?
@@iamasmurf1122 if it goes on the fender then it's a no go.... that is just dumb. If it can be mounted in multiple location then it's a go. I guess I will just wait for something different or make my own set up.
Get those door dingers!
Why on top of the front wheel walls and not under the side view mirrors? I would hate to drill holes on my front quarter panels just to mount the side cameras ( I don't assume the side cameras are wireless)?
I like the side cameras. I hope to see more about it.
side cameras would be easier to rip off, how are they mounted?
The side cameras would be better than the mirrors where you have to turn your head from side to side. Screens could be put in the dash in front of the driver to make it easier to know what is coming alongside.
@@tiredoldmechanic1791 I used a factory Nissan 360 and the system advised me to use it in addition to mirrors rather than a substitute for the actual mirrors. :)
Side cameras , didn’t Eclipse or Alpine try that a few years back?
These could be useful for people who don’t have blind-spot monitoring and people towing trailers - and others. The installation could be difficult.
When is the 4K four channel dashcam is coming out?
Can someone please tell me the name of that GPS system on the right side of the screen at 6:49? That is the most astonishingly beautiful and detailed GPS I have ever seen.
Any news update on the 4CH Solution?
I'm waiting for more info as well
Oh wow more 4k Dashcam nice!!
I want the 4 channel camera!
what u guys think about AUKEY DR2 ??? thats a big competitor to viofo 129
So 4CH is available in Singapore but not U.S.??? any date ???
The 4K dual channel in the settings should have a preset for day time for 4K then night time switch back to 1440p with 60 FPS
Or have Manuel settings we can preset todo that during those times
Can't wait to see your review on the 4K Thinkware dash cam. I hope you do a full review but as well as a comparison with the 4k BlackVue. I was thinking about getting the BlackVue 4K but I'm definitely going to wait as I believe Thinkware has a better parking mode. Correct me if I'm wrong. Draws less power.. I have a Mercedes and my car battery is expensive so I don't want to compromise that.
Personally I prefer Blackvue's parking mode. Both are similar and buffered, but I prefer Blackvue's notifications. Thinkware has a better low powered and thus long term parking mode though. Pros and cons to each.
I need a 4 channel cam for sure.
You guys should market this towards off road enthusiasts. I would buy the 4 cam system just to angle the cams down for rock crawling in my 4X4. I like the adaptability.
finally 2k and 4k 👍👍👍
Where was the promised cloud notification features for our thinkware f800 pro?
If the images were stitched together I think it would be awesome to have as an aftermarket for my trucks. They have it on the new cars and trucks but I'm not buy a new car anytime soon.
I hope this 4ch system is produced!!
I hoping thinkware releases the 4ch system for review on your channel vortex and other youtuber's as well. That way they can see the interest that we have for the 4ch system here in the US. I think thinkware would get a better idea of interest and more exposure releasing new cameras for testing that way they will get a bigger viewing base on CZcams. Let's say they release the camera for review to youtuber's for review. So instead of just getting a few thousand people seeing the new product at CES, they will potentially have millions of views of their new lineup. It's just a different marketing strategy. I really hope they release the 4ch system here in the US.
The side cameras would be great!
There regular cameras are already expensive can't imagine how much the 4 channel and the 4k cam would cost? Although they make really good dash cams.
Is that $500 for 1 or 2 sports camera? What's the advantage of this over GoPro which doesn't have wires running into the car, cheaper and has wireless control?
I have 800 pro, but this is nice 👍 I was waiting when it comes out I’ll get one , for my truck:) 4 Channel
That 4ch camera looks great.
The AR talk shows Thinkware is ambitious. Can they pull it off? I checked out augmented reality six months ago at a Microsoft store, I found it promising but the applications were too limited. I don’t see how they can get it on a speedometer display there without cooperation from car makers. Overall, an impressive company. Maybe I can replace my dashcam now. Just finding one with a polarizing filter was difficult last time.
so nothing existing in 1 small device (360 degrees, parking motion alarm, device robber alarm etc) for : motorbikes, scooters, bike, boat (weatherproof etc) !
When this 4 ch Cam available?
Exactly. But they must focus more on 2k + clarity with night vision and 360 degree coverage in parking mode. There’s thousands of dash cams on the market but nothing like this. Also they must have a hideaway DVR Control unit . No sense in having a $500 Dash cam if some thief can just break into your car and steal it and take the info with them.
At CES 2020, 4channel still was not available :(
0:47 why is that small video screen upside down?? Fail presentation. -__-
It’s not. Look more carefully. Two of the cameras are upside down, the screen itself is fine.
I really hope 4 channels start coming soon like around latest this year or early next year
Birds eye view systems are popular among “normal” consumers, they eat that up, integrating quality cameras/recording/parking/and that AR system would make the best option on the aftermarket by far, I’d pay the better part of $1,000 for something like that as long as it has a video output for seamless integration
Side camera would be hard to mount IMHO.. Why didnt they make the cable come out the back below the camera. Then they could be mounted on the door gaps and the wires can route neatly inside - without drilling holes. Lets hope they do this, dont fancy drilling a £50000 car to mount side cameras.
Where can I find those cameras?
Defenitly i will purchase 4 channel camera recorder, i hope they release it
An additional question you should've asked is why they haven't updated their DASHCAM app on the iOS appstore to support the iPhone X resolution (since it's been a whole year now...)
2021, still waiting for this 4ch
I guess it never to early to start a xmas list.
When will this be released?
When will someone come out with a camera that only the actually camera mounts to the windshield and the processor is remote so it can be installed in a lock box. That way if the camera is stolen the video is still in a lock box under the seat or in the trunk. Also the installation will be stealthily because the camera will take up a small space on the window. I bought a F800 Pro with the rear camera about 6 months ago. I was very disappointed in it. I ran it for a month and took it down when I had my windows tinted and have never put it back up. It is too bulky up in the window. I bought it for the parking mode but it too annoying.
rearviewsafety has a SD 360 Camera system and lock box recorders. :)
I'll gladly take it from you
@@soonvincent6404 just search there name on Google and it will pop up. I hope they see this and come out with a HD version now. :)
I have the 750 (exactly the same body as the 750), with rear view camera, when I installed it I installed it directly behind my mirror and I put the rear camera tight to the roof, you can barely see it. The front camera all i can see is the wire coming down to feed it power.
@@soonvincent6404 you got cash?
Price point is a concern, but I am very interested in the 4 channel/side cameras. I really hope you guys bring that out. Larger vehicles this will come in handy and considering some high end vehicles charge a ton for a 4 camera view, if this is priced right I imagine it will sell.
here we are 10//2022 and they have multi channel kits but get this, the TOTAL resolution gets split and that means a 1080 camera gets recorded at 480, you can't see shit for detail!
@4:35, the U1000 4k dashcam runs flawlessly. I'm super happy with mine upgrading from another great dashcam, the FA200
Great news! I'm glad you're liking yours. :)
@@VortexRadar How come the 4channel dashcams are not out yet? I was travelling around Dallas this last weekend and saw CES on a Hotel wall! Was there a CES event or something?
My uncles King ranch truck has 360 camera from factory it is sweet!!
Ya that's Ford for ya. Before anyone says it's not a Ford thing.. it was started with Ford and frankly copied by GM and Chrysler. ;)
That said none of the manufacturers cameras record. They are just there for maneuvering into parking spots.. off-road use and backing up to trailers. These cameras are for security and to record incidence.
Napster6 pretty sure BMW and Mercedes had this option before Ford but ok
@@chevyfan029 Who is arguing!? I said it was nice that his truck had it but ok
I like the surround view camera systems. My wife's 2013 Nissan had it.
I am looking for IoT - I would like to see wireless rear cameras and access the cameras on your smartphone. The wireless rear should sync to the front cam. Eliminate all that wire. Think also about 4 channel wireless IoT connect to front cam and to smartphone.
How would you power the wireless cameras?
With the high degree of bad drivers increasing I've been looking for and/or thinking of going diy multi camera arduino cameras control. This sounds like something I would want, but I don't want a service that goes to the cloud. Too many companies want to pry into our lives and copy the data that is captured. I would like to hear when the four camera system comes out IF it doesn't HAVE TO HAVE online connections. I want to store locally only.
The footage is all stored onto a memory card in your camera. All the cloud stuff here is entirely optional.
@@VortexRadar Great, I look forward to knowing when the four camera version is available.
Why not bird eye view? Since you already have 3 camera . I know usually you need 4 camera for true 360 view ( the view from top) that would be so cool
Does anyone else have a Thinkware camera that also picks up a bunch of loud exhaust false positives?
Build it. Will buy
Definitely could save you with 4 cameras with cloud service
Great questions and overall interview.
Those side mounted cameras I see getting knocked off/stolen very easy. How about a reliable dash cam that has 1080p 60fps with a rear mounted cam in a package that doesn't cost $200+. I don't need all the bells and whistles.
I hate the idea of having to stick those side cameras above my front wheel wells.. underside of a side mirror would have been a much smarter placement.
When 4ch dash cam will be released?!
i have been waiting forever...
i got a brand new car and someone scratched it ;( I need 4ch 360 degree camera
I hear ya which is why I’ve resorted to building my own 4CH setup. czcams.com/video/gSFxqHrF2Ro/video.html
@@VortexRadar i had my old thinkware f800 pro set up as rear dash cam (not wire connected like urs). i guess ill buy another 2ch/3ch dash cam... any recommendations?? i only drive about 30-50 mins 5 times a week so i worry about my car battery dying.. i always turn my dashcam off when im not using.
So now I gotta wait till they come out with a 2k 60 fps all around 4ch dash cam setup. Suppose i could wait a couple years
very cool!!!!!!!!
Weather resistant ???
I am in for the 4 channel dash cam and 2k rear.Thinkware need to promote their higher cutoff temp compared to blackvue. Also, they need to work on the design, their cameras dont look the best.
Love the cluelessness of the people not seeing a camera on a tripod and just walking in front of it...lol.
haha yeah. It kinda makes sense when you're there though. There's SO much stuff all vying for your attention, flashing lights, cool cars, wacky tech, etc., that you start to tune much of it out and focus on what you wanna see.
any news about these new cameras now?
The 4K U1000 is out now. bit.ly/2LMqF2t I'll see them next week at SEMA and ask them about the latest updates since.
I guess this thing didn't get produced.
why are dash cams retrofits...
Citronen added dashcam by default in mirror
Very nice!
this guy is the twin of James Rodriguez!!!
I have a doppelgänger? Ooh!
4 channel is really cool, but why the LCD? That's so five years ago! They should be wifi compatible so one can just use an app on your phone to see whatsup. LCD's are irritating at night and distracting by day!
Yeah I prefer WiFi too, especially since it gives us a smaller form factor. Some people prefer the LCD though. Either way, the front unit shown here is a prototype so who knows what the final product will be like. :)
itsd going to be well over 1000 bucks Canadian. Who can afford this? I wanted the U1000 shown here with the rear camera, but couldn't afford or justify the $800 + price.
name is thinkware U1000!!
I owned the Viofo 129 Pro Duo and loved the footage from it. My daughter got her first car so I put the Viofo 129 Pro Duo in her car and I bought the Thinkware U1000 2 channel for my vehicle. That was my biggest mistake. I should have just bought her the Viofo 129 Pro Duo for her car as well. The play back footage is horrible. Everything is grainy and blurry. I expected a lot more from a $650.00 Canadian 4 k dash cam. I have always had a Thinkware dash cam in my vehicles but the U1000 ruined that for me. Support is dragging their asses on helping me. Save your money folks and get the Viofo 129 Pro Duo for half the price of the U1000 and the Viofo has a lot better play back.
Nice
So, let's combine 4k, connected, and 4 channel. That would be a great product.
One step at a time. I'm sure we'll get there. :)
@@VortexRadar I don't like steps. I want the whole enchilada.
WOAH!
OK
NOW
THIS
IS
EPIC!
Thinkware wtf !!! you got people excited and then left them hanging? Where is the 4channel dashcam?
"So their water proof ? ""Yea these are weather resistant. And prototypes. ". Shit!
Thi4kware. Always thinking ahead.
Make it, so we can buy it please
3:00 That 4K cam I would buy right now. Shame it's not going to come to North America until end of 2019.
Hey 👋🏽! Excuse me, I am deaf and would like to see your video message to be captioned cuz I am looking for a good dashcam.
Hey G. How well do CZcams's autogenerated captions work? Would that do the trick? I'd have to hire a person to help generate captions for me unless people would like to volunteer to help create them for us. :)
Looking for a dashcam that gives a 360 degrees view with a high speed video and great at capturing a license plates numbers.
If you head over to BBMC, you can use their chat option to talk to someone there who can help you find the dashcam that would be best for you. :) bit.ly/2DPMLhX
They are saying they want the side cameras mounted above the wheelwhells!? So, Wreck the car body to fit a system designed to protect the body!? Ridiculous!
Thats too late for 4k dashcam to release late 2019. Blackvue is already selling 4k dashcams since almost an year.
Yes and they’re the only real option. You realize that as consumers, the more competition we have, the better, right? The DR900S is great, but not perfect. We need more good options to keep things moving forward. In some ways, I think this will be better than the DR900S too...
@@VortexRadar I agree the more competition, the more good products and competitive pricing. I have been using Thinkware x550 with rear camera since 2015. I am expecting thinkware to be ahead of the game as they are in this business since a long time..
Who needs a 4K dashacam?? Are you trying to record a movie with your dashcam? Seems to be just a waste of money, bandwidth, and memory with no benefit.
Sekhar 😑
Yea all the people in the single digit % market penetration of 4K computer screens & the even smaller % of vehicles with cameras spell doom newcomers to the market
Has Thinkware gotten rid of that annoying "Manual recording will now start" voice announcement that gets included in the videos?
China already have tons of 360 camera for years.
Yeah they seem to get a lot of awesome tech before we do. Same thing with cell phones and more. :)
I like the 4 channel camera but don't like the side cameras being mounted outside the car and don't like them facing backwards. Being mounted outside leaves them exposed to being damaged, be it maliciously or in minor collisions such as lane changes from other motorists not checking their blindspot, which would also be a collision a rear biased side camera wouldn't capture much of as they would be coming into the dashcammer's lane from slightly in front and off to the side.
Would Thinkware offer replacement side cameras at a low price for replacing them or (as I assume an external camera would be a permanent fixture to the car) would a replacement's cost be covered by making an insurance claim? How easy would it be to connect a replacement camera to the remaining 3 cameras, as they come as a complete 4 channel system, how does a separately manufactured camera be connected up assuming side cameras would be wireless as you don't want to have to route cables through the wings and the deep internals of the car to get them connected to the main front unit.
Although the view may not be as clear, I'd rather have side cameras which are mounted in a rear window with a slight forward bias so that they cover the blindspot of the front camera, such as when someone fails to stop for a junction and collides with the dashcammer as they drive past. Here in the UK, people failing to slow or stop for someone already on the roundabout would not be covered by a front mounted and significantly rear biased side camera.
I thought I had the video 1.75x
Cool texh but i hate when companies use the word "solution". They need to focus on making quaity products that dont fall apart in 1 month rather than marketing tricks. Most companies are like this, drives me nuts.
it has been 2 years and I just searched and I didn't find anything about this 4 channel solution 360 cam!! what a lack of info. and production!!
Look like James
I had a cam in front and in the back ....then a dickhead hit me on the side and decided to drive of.... result ...no footage no licence plate... so this setup is going to be mine...if they dont make it........ I WILL !!
Truckers paradise!
Go to truckers truck shows.
What do you mean? 🤔
