In my never-ending quest to add modifications to my RV, I decided to add AEM Water/Methanol injection. I did this for cooling benefits more than performance initially. Watch to find out more! - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Not sure how I ended up here especially as I really don’t enjoy RV camping but this was a very fascinating and enjoyable video to watch while eating lunch. Learned a lot about this unique (to me) engine/cooling combination.
Glad you enjoyed it! Most of my videos on the RV aren't so much about RVing but more about whatever odd/unique concepts I'm trying out. My vehicles are more or less all rolling research & development labs. You might also enjoy my videos on converting my RV from a mechanical cooling fan to electric cooling fans (that one was a lot of work) and some of the videos on my Cobra replica I'm building - the engine especially I did some atypical things to achieve my goals relating to how the car drives.
My rig is like yours, I have thought about installing water sprayers around inside of fan shroud to help cool on the grades. Would be easy and just use water from fresh tank.
I'd considered that as well, and it's something I may well do. I ran out of time before my big summer trip. I think a water mister on the radiator/intercooler would be more effective in cooling than this was.
Cannot see your white board. Consider just zooming in just capturing your whiteboard and you in the frame with your original video and making a zoomed in edited copy to repost on your site.
So appreciate your knowledgable input and presentations on working with older RV’s and the CAT 3126 engine.
Cheers
Thanks for the feedback and the kind words Frank. I’m definitely still learning when it comes to making these videos and my camera setups aren’t always ideal. I’ll try to do a better job with the whiteboard.
I’ve got some more unusual modifications to my RV coming in the future - stay tuned!
Awesome channel! I was thing to run similar kit on a toterhome with a cat c7. I am also gathering information about adding a LPG. In Europe ( where i am originally from) this is very popular, i even found a few companies in US that did thst at some point. But all th info os pretty old. Have you heard of LPG as supplement on diesel engine? What do you think about it?
I actually did think about doing a propane injection setup instead of water/methanol, especially since my RV had a propane tank on it. You’re right that it’s not done much over here, my understanding is that it’ll cool the intake temps but it won’t cool EGTs. Cooling EGTs seems to be the main thing people look for with this sort of setup on diesels over here.
Glad you like the channel!
I have a home built propane injection setup in my diesel Mercedes sedan I do some towing with. I see maybe a tiny reduction in egt, like it seems I can reduce throttle because of the propane and keep the same speed with a minimal reduction of EGT or keep a slightly higher speed at the same. It's very hard to quantify since it's a bunch of different hills going into and out of the mountains to the race track. In everyday use it definitely spools the turbo faster. I have an adjustable Hobbs switch controlling a gas rated valve AFTER the regulator. A BBQ regulator actually makes a difference and I had two hooked up on a splitter after toying around with it. I had one on auto and the second on a manual button that I was intending to do a full throttle switch on. There needs to be a shut off within reach to be able to shut it down for certain situations. You can use an adjustable regulator too but be careful. It doesnt take that much to over do it. I definitely gave her too much a couple times and it sounds bad! Have the two "stages" was nice.
@@jasonbirch1182 good information!
@@TedsGarage bus grease monkey does some propane injection which may be helpful to your bigger rigs.
What size nozzles are you using?
5 gallon tank, I go into the nozzles in the video
