Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross 2021 review: Aspire 2WD - Does the mid-range model suit families?

- Somewhere between a small SUV and a mid-size SUV sits the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. It’s a family car contender thanks to the extra space it has over small SUVs, and competes with cars like the Honda HR-V, Kia Seltos and the Nissan Qashqai, all of which offer good space for their size.

I recently bought this car, as a family of four (with a tall teenage boy). I compared this to Rav4, Sportage, CX5, Tiqan and CRV. I found that this car was more roomy and for the price point had far more bang for the buck. The thing that tipped us over was the 10 year warranty and 10 year capped price servicing. The others didn’t compare. Having sat in each car as a family, I personally think this is a mid size SUV with lots of room. This car also has better towing capacity than others in this range including the CX5. We love this car and have zero issues with the items highlighted in this vid.
Always love your reviews!
Great review. You are very humble, and with a great smile.Way better than the.guys.Keep up the good work.A smile go a long way.
I test drove pretty much everything SUV wise in that $35k-$45K price range and found that nothing other than the Skoda Kamiq (with all of the extras added on = approx. $40K) could touch the Eclipse Cross Exceed. The Rav4 was great and all, but for the price, overrated (with all of the features the Exceed has, the Rav4 would easily be $10K-$15K more expensive).
It's not perfect but most suvs aren't. It's a good buy and having driven one it's better than other small suvs I've driven namely seltos, hrv and kona
The rear design looks way better than before, although it reminds me on a Nissan now. I just realized the weird positioning of the window switches behind the door handle.
Still one of the better small size SUV. Way better than something like the HR-V or Qashqai.
For the money, you do get a fair bit of kit. Same can't be said for the seltos
Good car recently brought new model
Very satisfied good mileage,
Stunning, way better than last shape
More room
Compared to the new ssangyong korando, which is better and more solid ?
just recently checked the eclipse cross 2023 from US website their models ( all trim levels) have all LED headlights, LED fog lights as standard then I go to check eclipse cross 2023 version here in Australia, and only the top spec one the exceed has full LED headlights, while the other trim levels still have crappy halogen headlights lol....what a shame.
I was in the market for a new car and needed something with enough space for golf club or alike in the back.
I tried the Toyota CHR Mazda CX-3, both great cars but too small. Also can get pricey if you want more than the basics.
Tried the ASX as it was a bit bigger and then when I was in the yard I noticed the Eclipse. Fell in love with it and at the price point, it’s perfect. Sure, the tech may not be as nice as others but apple car play is the same across all these and that’s all I need.
The safety features includes in the aspire is worth it compared to the LS (model down).
Don’t get the exceed, not worth the up charge.
Can’t wait to get mine soon!
When did you order and when is your expected ETA?
@@philipbaker4003 ordered 23rd Jan. eta April
@@TheConza10 I ordered 5th December expected eta late March/ early April
I actually enjoyed the sound system in the aspire model (upgrade from lower models). I tested it using a range of genres and didn’t find it unpleasant at all. My old HRV Vti would blare the music once the volume went up and I wasn’t a fan.
Also on the drive, I found it to actually be a bit of fun when you put it in manual and use the paddle shifters. You get to enjoy the torque of the turbo, which is far more responsive than if you just put your foot down normally. I threw it into some good sharp hill corners using the paddle shifters and it was great fun
Are they manufactured in Japan
Mitsubishi all day 😊🙌🏻
Unusual how you didn't bash this Mitsubishi. I think all Mitsubishi cars are good.
it's very nice car
Hi,
Please show pajero shogun review.
Not sport.
Good review :)
Similar in size to the ASX!
No rear airvents minus 8
Needs a refresh update !?
Consider the MG HS SUV Excite for full specifications on mid range SUV .
I actually drove the mg last weekend, ok drive but too many small quality issues, I'm sure in years to come they will come good but right now , remember before Covid they couldn't give them away, when other brands put their prices up and ran out of stock MG started to sell
You have not done your research properly. The rear air vents are under the front seats. Not directional, but will keep the kids cool on a 40 degree day.
Well, she did say there are no directional air vents in the rear, which is exactly what you just said?
It compares to Sportage CX5 CRV ZS XTRAIL ASX KONA
I've seen it on the road, it looks good, different, with a modern and sporty look, but I'm not sure I would buy it, and not at that price.
Too expensive.
Mitsubishi dealers always negotiate pricing, making Mitsu a huge bargain. The Eclipse Cross also rides very nice, and might be Mitsubishi's smoothest and quietest riding cars they've ever made
At what time it arrives to middle East...right side driver
Should have active cruise atvthat price.
Good to see they changed back of this car,
This is car made by? How we can read the chase number?
Hola me gusta ese color lastima en mi país no hay. Desde lima peru san Borja norte
Please stop mentioning “man made materials” on the dash. All cars have man made dashboards. What I think you mean is hard plastics.
Yeah it cud be woman made too
Some use leather and timber trim, which you’d have to call natural.
@@larjkok1184 True, but even so, what we want to know is if the dash is a hard plastic or soft touch like other reviewers do.
Have to wait 3 months for my Lightning Blue Aspire 😕 possibly late March/ early April
Really why? Did you custom ordered it?
@@amcb2035 ordered prior to Christmas. Expected DD of 4th January. Advised by dealer before Christmas now late March / Early April
@@philipbaker4003 well I don't know how long it was before Christmas that you ordered it but I mean let's say if it was before Thanksgiving break then the latest it should have been was like late February you know but if it was after Thanksgiving then it should be like late March which you know kind of goes with the dealerships saying but again if you ordered it before Thanksgiving then yeah it should already been arrived at the end of February. And it doesn't help too with covid like that s*** is slowing everything down so but for them to say January yeah that's no its not that quick. the reason why I noticed is because I got family Dollar sales people at dealerships not like used dealerships like legit ones and on average it takes about a month and a half to two months so between a month and a half and two months for a car to get delivered.
Great! You’ve still got time to pull out of the contract.
@@amcb2035 took delivery last Friday!
It deserves an 8/10 score tbh
9/10 I reckon
@@dancollins8338 couldn't agree more, they always want too much of everything for them to rate a vehicle high enough. What they don't get is that a perfect balance is always better and that's what Mitsubishi is all about
@@MiggyMndza Exactly mate, best value vehicles money can buy. I wouldn't have owned about a dozen Mitsubishi's in my life if they weren't. I love my Eclipse Cross!!
That k god they gotbride of that light across the rear.
unusual that cars guide review didn't trash this Mitsubishi they usually do, they have probably lost some premium sponsors and need the Mitsubishi support in these tough times
@@bens6674 they compare the outlander to suvs twice the price, which indirectly is saying the awesomeness of the outlander it punches above its weight in value.
That's ok. The trolls have all done that over the place, lol. The Eclipse Cross is a nice vehicle!
03:12 tell your kids to harden up and put the windows down. Nobody wants high-gloss aka piano black finishes - it scratches up then looks like blergh and can't easily be replaced.
The vents are under the front seats.
Panels can easily be replaced or covered with aftermarket carbon pieces
@@stendecstretcher4983 didn’t know that thanks !
Looks like a Nissan on a side view
mistubishi eclipse cross
Not a fan on the exterior looks cheap. Interior is ok. Expensive amongst the rivals. The new 2021 Hyundai Tucson and Kia looking much more luxurious and cheaper
I disagree. The exterior of the Eclipse Cross looks FANTASTIC!!!! Not even close to cheap. Mitsu has been criticized for looking like a Lexus, which, by the way, is a good thing.
Mitsubishi all the way!
Haha! Said no one, ever.
@@larjkok1184 5 likes unlike your zero just like your iq
@@dancollins8338 thanks!
Not appealing enough
It's a clone of the asx, I'd say they need to get more creative
Yes it rides on the same platform and is a similar size, but the lancer and outlander also use the same platform. The Eclipse Cross has a completely different engine to the ASX. Completely different body panels, interior, multimedia system and no mechanical components are interchangeable.
@@MattyClivingthedream but otherwise it just the same as the ASX 😂😂😂
It's absolutely nothing like the asx, the interior is bigger , eclipse cross is faster than the asx. 0-100km in 7.7 seconds. Interior of the cross looks much better and more modern.
Piss off, nothing like an asx and I've owned both so I'm sure I know
Not sure about very 2021 but certainly very ugly
Stop looking in the mirror then
Sweet Jesus, that is hideous!
Typical Bitsaremissing product.
Drive it straight into the ocean and leave it there.
