- A Procharger might be the most exciting mod you make on your Toyota Tacoma.
Now that we have over 15k miles on our Tacoma, as well as many Procharger installs over the past 2 years, we thought we'd share a bit more in-depth information on this centrifugal supercharger system. Do we like Magnuson Superchargers? Yes... Magnuson was the original supercharger for Toyotas for years, producing even the OEM superchargers on many models of Toyotas. In fact, we recommend Magnuson for Tundras, older model 4Runners and Tundras, and we're about to make a video specifically about their new superchargers for 3rd Gen 4Runners soon... but, the Procharger is our most popular choice for 3rd Gen Tacomas here at Mountain Yotas.

Thank you for sharing Mountain Yotas!! You guys rock and we appreciate all you do! #prochargertheworld
☺️ thank you!!!
@@mtnyotas So you guys don't pulley down to compensate for the altitude? If this kit is designed to make 7 psi at sea level, in Denver its only making 4-5, and up at 8,000ft, you might only be seeing 3psi.
The transparency is awesome
I’m pushing 60 years old and I Love my 23 Tacoma TRD Off Road.
Heck yeah I want more horsepower, but I’m a frugal man so I don’t want to compromise on fuel efficiency.
That queef machine had me dying 😂
Wondered how long it’d take for someone to point that out 😂
I don't even own or want a Tacoma but I love this video and the portals video, lots of good info and very transparent
Great information here. I'm a fan of the Prochargers!
Thank you! Big fan ourselves 😊
You got the part# for the belt I plan on buying the procharger kit for my 4Runner
Gates K060658HD
@@mtnyotas thank you 💪🏼
@@mtnyotas what spark plugs you guys run on a 5th gen 4Runner
😮 I’m gonna need one of those.
You know where we are 😜
@@mtnyotas you’re off on Colfax right?
Just one?
Would you guys make a video on Regearing ratios? 3.88, 4.56, 5.x and so on? I have a Maggy supercharged 23 4Runner and likely taking this route, but not 100% on what the right option is. Thanks for the great content!
Thank you! I'd be happy to make that... it is really all personal preference and how much you like torque. People are afraid of being too deep on their ratio, but we tend to like being torquey. How big are your tires and how much extra weight do you have?
@@mtnyotas thanks for the reply!! I have about 400 pounds between rear tire, carrier, and misc. Currently rolling on 285/70r17 K03’s. Though I’ll be adding front/rear bumpers which will probably push to 600lbs or so!
Nice informative video ! Question, what’s the part number for the green belt for the Tacoma ? Thanks
ugh you guys are hurting my heart after watching this im debating on doing this before the long travel kit on my 21 trd sport. this is way better than the Magnusson super charger IMO. love the content guys...
You really can’t go wrong either way with which one goes first... tough decision for sure!
Currently running the procharger system as well! Have the belt that came with the kit. We have one of the first kits that came out when they didnt offer the fuel pump booster yet (since then we upgraded to the booster after release). Anything to point out about the belts that were in the bad batch that could be a sign its going out? The belt part of the video got me nervous lol. Can i also have the part numbers for the upgraded belt please? Thanks!
Just upgrade that belt ASAP... Gates K060658HD
My belt shredded, whats the green belt part number?
Also the video is spot on. Im on 35s with 5.13 gears manual trans, yotawerx tune and the truck rips! One thing id note is i got the helicul cut gears. The whistle sound should be the same between both cut gears however i think the biggest notable difference is idle. Best way to describe it is the straight cut gears are louder at idle almost like shaking a bag of rocks around. The helicul cut is smoother at idle and you hear more of a small whistle versus rattling. Feel free to expand on this but i dont want people thinking helicul is quiet when it comes to the "whistle" cause its not 😁. Nice video!
Hey dude, sorry for the delay!!! Part is KO6O658HD and shouldn't ever happen again with that... thank you so much for your kind words and added notes here!
So you mentioned regear with the pro charger. However, with the VF tune changing the shift points of the transmission should I go with 4.88 or 5.29 gears with 35 inch tires? It's a daily driver.
Thanks , I'm loving the content!
Thank you! I’d definitely go for 5.29s with 35s… more bang for your buck and not much down side other than slightly higher RPMs on the highway. You can adjust the gear ratio on your tune along with your tire size and that can be changed for free at anytime by anyone who uses VF Tuner. Appreciate the kind words!!!
5.29's it's not even a question.
4.88's only if you're staying at or really close to stock tire size.
Is it worth it with a manual trans
why not run a smaller pulley in Colorado?
If the gas mileage stays the same it must be running very dry.
Not necessarily, it has more torque so it's getting up to speed with less stress. Or the fact the tune changes the shift logic makes it get better gas mileage on an na motor but if it's about the same when boosted then it's using more fuel
If Ya'll were closer to PA I'd be so interested in this kit once I got the money, damn.
0:30 Does this have portals?
Edit: It would be amazing to see a complete list of everything done to this truck.
It does... check out a few of our recent videos to see more of the stuff on there. We'll get around to a full walk-around on it one of these days.
This is what I would get if I didn't order a Ranger Raptor. This or a V8 Coyote F150 and do an offroad build. I wonder how tunable the new Tacomas will be.
Would love this installed on my 23 TRD sport, what happens to my warranty?
It voids the warranty. I have my 23 TRD off road and I'm waiting till 2026 to get the pro charger so my warranty gets some use
Thanks for the vid. With the tune that comes with the kit is the tune good for the system even if the truck might have an 'OR' exhaust or cat back exhaust?
Thank you! The tune will be just fine with aftermarket exhaust.
I really hope PURETURBO does Pure kit for new 2024 turbo 4cyl.
4 cylinder turbos suck idk why they got rid of the reliable v6 my next truck will forsure not be a Tacoma of if I get a 4 cylender turbo it would be a gmc canyon
@@jandelahoussaye9834 The insane levels of copium you NA V6 guys have breaks my brain. Turbo 4s passed up NA V6 in every metric 5-10 years ago. All of you acting like they swapped your coyote, LS, or Hemi out for a turbo 4cyl. Now you can actually go up a steep hill with full truck and not slow down despite your foot being all the way to the floor. If reliability is what you're questioning, I can promise a drop-in hybrid turbo and intercooler on 24' taco would be considerably more reliable than the previous gen V6 with procharger.
Can you run the OTT tune with this pro charger
Yes, they have a specific tune for the Procharger and it’s $400.
Does it increase low end power? My 3 Gen Taco suffer coming up steep hill while off-roading.
Ship to Canada too?
It does increase the low end, but it really kicks in above 3k RPMs. We can ship to Canada, just have to pay VAT.
@@mtnyotas
Thanks
Nah both Procharger and Magnuson aren't that great with low end torque despite what the ads tell you. The new Turbo 4's is what you want.
@@tacoteng2095
Gearing produce the low end power, 5.29.
Now we have to wait till some regear their new Tacomas with the 4 cyl turbos to see how they compare to the 3 gen Taco.
400-289 ( stock hp ) = +111 hp 13 .8 hp per 1 psi @8 psi REALLY HARD TO BELIEVE WITH the real deal a actual turbo witch is way more efficient 13.8 per psi is hard to get… it’s more like 10 hp psi so + 70 hp with a more efficient turbo so 10k for about 70 hp COLD IDK ….
I can say that it feels like it’s that high, but Procharger is the one who did the dyno on it.
Hardest taco out 💯
Do you guys install/work on or just have any info on the 4.0 v6 Magnuson superchargers?
We sure do... 2nd Gen Tacoma? Shoot us a message on IG or info@mountainyotas.com!
Anyway I could order the kit and get it shipped? Eventually 😅
Absolutely, let us know when you’re ready!
very honest video!!
comes with a bigger fuel tank?
I want to send my 4th gen 4runner to yall and see what kind of mods MountainYota can do 😊
Happy to help you anytime!
This is dope wonder if this would work on the gx460
Ever put one on a 3.4 Tacoma
so its 400whp while still being abel to go back to stock? if so thats really neat
That's 400hp to the crank... I wish it was to the wheel, but typically the horsepower ratings from factory are based on the crank. So, it's still a 40% gain over stock.
Yep, so you can screw over the guy that buys your used Tacoma.
That’s why I never buy used shit.
How much and can it work on a 2.7?
Can you do a 2nd gen kit?
Absolutely! They’re awesome on 4.0s.
Are your trucks on 35s
Video like this for the 5th gen 4Runner please! Want one, but Nate_Drives had one and blew his motor on the Dyno at about 300whp just trying to tune it...
That's why you should always do a compression test first... I probably should've discussed that in this video.
His car was leaning out when he was on the dyno. He needed a fuel pump upgrade.
I can buy a short block 302 blueprint engine, which is built and making 360 HP NA for $5k. An engine swap isn’t cheap, but I could sell my 3.5 with 35k miles for a good amount to recoup some money. I don’t know why people spend so much on forced induction on a V6. The magnuson supercharger is like $13k!! Ridiculous
You'd be spending twice that on a motor swap even if you do the labor yourself... ask me how I know.
@@mtnyotas haha so youve been there. I will respectfully disagree though, doesn’t cost $10k to do an engine swap
Do they make this for 3rd gen 4Runner it be nice
About to do a video on the new Magnuson kit for 3rd Gens! They’re awesome… Procharger doesn’t make anything for them yet.
Does it void your warranty?
Technically it voids the engine… I did mention that you aren’t doing anything permanent that can’t be undone, though. 👀
Hell yeah it will. Mine just hit 100k. Ain't no more warranty
That truck isn’t making 400 hp.
Why not
With 7-8 psi with any type of supercharger or turbo has not produced 400 wheel. If you can find a video please link it :)
I’ve seen the 5th gen 4runners do 320-330whp which is around 400 crank. But I do know the 4.0 is little different then the 3.5
Long term reliability like over 200k miles?
It will last as long as you’re maintaining your vehicle, but anytime you do forced induction you are typically decreasing the life of the motor. How you drive and how you take care of your stuff will determine longevity.
if you do a money back guarantee itll make 400hp ill drop 10k right now. I highly doubt you can take my 198whp 4runner to 400whp for 10k
It’s 400 at the crank…
Dang it, these guys are all the way in Colorado and I'm in California 😮💨.
Make it a road trip 😊
The whine isn’t the same….. based on your short video……
The same as what?
A spaceship or a turbo diesel? 😂 It confuses people who don’t know what a Procharged Tacoma sounds like with straight cuts.
@@mtnyotas hellcat and cobra terminator. Terminator has the bar pretty high for supercharger whine
Is it better than the Magnuson?
It’s just different… sounds better for sure and the power on a procharger kicks in later at higher RPMs, totally personal preference. Both companies make great products!
👀👀👀👀👀👀👀
Yesssirrrrrrrrr
Um the Tacoma comes with 278hp.
400hp no chance
400 hp on wheels
There's no way this does 400 whp.
Nobody said wheel horse power...
@@mtnyotas There’s no way this does 400 hp at the crank. There.
400hp. 😂
At the crank, yes it is 400.
Just stuff a NA V8 in there and call it a day.
