15 hour 3D Pen Robot... in 9 minutes

- A deeper dive into one of my final 3d pen projects. I sketched this "giant*" robot in 2D and then spent about 15 hours making it with a 3d pen. The video moves pretty fast, but hopefully you can see the techniques and strategies if you'd like to make your own.
*Robot is not actually giant, is actually about 8 inches tall.

I love Mike's channel. He has seemed to shift his content a bit these days, but he probably got sick of practicing all that stuff. I'll warn you though, I don't think I'll be most regular uploader, I've been working on the next video for the last six months, but only get an hour or two a week to put into it.

Would anyone be intrested in developing an "Entusiast Grade" 3d pen? Essentially use 3d printer parts to make a highly customizable open source pen.
Might be a fun project, after working on these, I bet most people would just prefer the 3D printer robot do all the work.

I wouldn’t be able to work there but if you make one you should make the pen have a selection of nozzles so people can choose to have more detail or make things faster
Owl Boi yep, that is the goal same level pf modularity
Maybe something that resembles a printer but a pen and more user friendly; thinking something that can increase the speed of the motor the longer you hold it down and a fan resembling the printer head to quickly cool down the filament. Might be a useful tool? Especially for maybe manually touching up spots on printed parts

This is awesome, when I attempted to make a robot with my 3D pen I built it in small sections and ‘welded’ them together. Although this approach is definitely something I’m gonna try

This is really awesome and cool. Juet a few tips. If you try adding on this one day, maybe ade like 2 or one blades on his back or like an X . Preferably the same pattern as the sword he holds but more black and gray. Also maybe even some people strands to make a mysterious power or yellow electricity or maybe some yellow parts. OR MAYBE EVEN TUBE LIKE THIGS COMEING FROM HIS ARM TO HIS BACK OR HEAD

I really enjoy your interesting ideas you are mentioning during the video, like those puppies. It reminded me about one day when in some random roleplay without rules my character died because he was torn to pieces by a bunch of cute little cats.
May i ask how have you learned drawing robots? Did you use some references you might recommend to someone who would like to start drawing them?
I've been drawing robots since forever. Really like Eric Joyner's retro robots, love the prequel drones from star wars. Instagram has some amazing robot artists if you hunt around. I like spudonkey on there.
