The girl that plays young Christie was my student in aftercare. She was a sweet kid and I remember her mom saying they were leaving for LA to pursue her career and wouldn’t be back after Christmas. I was so proud and happy when I saw her on TV! It was so awesome to see someone actually go for it and achieve so soon! She booked a TV spot in less than a year after moving and then this movie later that year I think

I still remember when the first paranormal activity movie came out, and it was actually genuinely scary at the time and everyone was going to theaters to see it. My mom finally let me and my little bro watch it after begging her for days and we legit didn't sleep for like 2 days straight and would tie a cross necklace around our ankles so we wouldn't get dragged out of bed like in the movie.😂😂
That was the last time I saw a horror movie that genuinely scared me..

My kids were about 10 and they couldn't sleep after they saw this movie, they asked for prayers and to drink holy water, which i did and gave them...and they asked to go to church and sign them up for holy communion...which they completed...we lived in a house with noises in the hallway...i had St Benedict crosses on the windows and doors...my ex husbands family not would not visit because of the crosses...i had to clean with holy and salt every week ,,eventually the noises subsided but the last really spine tingling thing that happened in that house was with my daughter when she was then 18... something in the room touched her, she said like a finger going over her foot to her hip...slowly...she got out of the room and was trembling with fright...i put her in my bed, prayed, sprayed holy water and salt on her and the whole house and in her room and played the Gregorian rosary in chant in a cycle. Then took her to school and continued to pray and placed my hand on her head and then aa smoky odor left the car...we both looked at each other and said nothing...after school I took her to church, prayed a rosary over her and nothing else happened to her again..it was the house...my ex husband said the house was built where a sect was started.
Well, now that I left ... coincidentally, his family visits him, they probably got rid of the St. Benedict crosses throughout the house. I have my own home and have St Benedict crosses everywhere and I wear a blessed St Benedict ring too and I know the prayer in Latin...we don't experience "things" anymore...however.. i still clean my house with holy water and salt just to make sure.🙏

I think it helps that you were a kid when the series was just coming out, everything is a lot scarier as a kid.
Did you ever notice Toby's (dragon) feet in the first one? There's a shot where Micah leans over the bedroom cam and as he shift to one side you can see Toby's feet sticking through the stairs handrail. ( I'm assuming its Toby's feet as nothing's there when he comes up the steps and Katy is still downstairs.)

Lol the best way to watch the movies is to actually watch them.. I know you’re going for a witty smartassy comment by trying to make some statement on the whole series, but no, you’re gonna miss out on a lot of clever things, and mostly the scares. While many will over exaggerate tf out of it and try to just say “it’s all garbage and blah blah”, no... I’m not the biggest fan of them but they’re still enjoyable and fun to watch with a friend or loved one..there’s a reason there were so many of them made, if they really “sucked” then they would’ve went straight to dvd

The scene with the kitchen of every cabinet opening in a second + everything in the kitchen getting pulled up off camera and falling back down was iconic! Also the Kinect scene with the dots in the room was super creative and scary
I liked the family dynamics in the beginning films. They felt really natural. Which makes their demises so sad and upsetting.

When they added the time travel element, I think they missed a trick there... I was hoping for an origin story set in a similar time as the Salem Witch trials to see the actual deal made with Tobi and they could've shown Tobi himself that way. The time travel element was a good way to have "found footage" of a time that couldn't be filmed in any other way. Instead, Ghost Dimension left the series incomplete and too much time spent fiddling with the ridiculous camera... like, we've seen that too much by that point.

Over all my years watching countless horror movies involving demons processing humans or performing some convoluted, lengthy ritual in order to procure a human body, the ultimate question I've never been able to wrap my head around is... WHY? The demons and spirits in horror films can literally be anywhere and do anything, and are already *clearly* able to affect reality without the need for a corporeal form. They're much more powerful as entities; being confined to a weak, vulnerable mortal body would not only be incredibly limiting, but a huge liability, since humans can be injured or killed, or suffer pain, illness, and bodily decay. It took us an entire franchise for Tobi over here to become human, and all I can think is, "That's it? *This* is what you wanted so badly that we sat through SIX DAMNED MOVIES to get to? The second this guy steps on a Lego barefoot it's game over! I really don't think this Tobi fellow has thought this through very well."
Maybe its an antichrust scenario where he wants to get into politics and lead humanity down the wrong path. It seems to me that demons need cults to conduct rituals to bring them over into the materual world, if all demons could freel travel to the real world there should be way more hauntings on a global scale rather than just tobi.

@@Bojo29 The thing that is almost never divulged is that while demons are typically malicious, they are also quite respectful and generally just curious beings. They don't *usually* take by force, but they have no qualms about it if they're ridiculed or taunted. Their whole behavior is based on "games". I think if they actually showed some sort of narrative about who "Tobi" actually is in literature and why his behavior is like it is, the movies wouldn't be so convoluted or messy.
Asmodeus, in all of his depictions, is basically a Greek satyr. He is capricious and flaunting and enigmatic, and is also the figurehead of lust and carnal affections. He obsesses over women (and if you go by the Book of Tobit; one woman) he is fond of, and is possessive and easily scorned while seemingly charismatic enough to lull his prey into a false sense of security. His goal isn't to hurt anyone, per se, unless you're 1.) a man, and 2.) belittling him.
Asmodeus in the movies is much the same, albeit bad Hollywood demon style.
Oh my god as a mom of three boys I can just imagine a possessed by Toby human stepping on a Lego and being brought to his now mortal knees while I stand there like “ha! first time? You get used to it. Welcome to mortality buddy!” And a tearful Toby looks up like “I don’t wanna be a mortal anymore, I wanna go HOME!” Then he calls his mom demon like “can you come pick me up please? I don’t like it here and I’m scared!”
Kristie actually found that photo of young Katie while going through a photo album with Ally and even she was surprise to find it as she thought pictures like that was lost in the fire.
It’s probably safe to say since Tobi has a tendency to take things and make them appear to have disappeared and that Tobi been after Katie and Kristie their entire lives that Tobi kept that photo since before the fire and that the girls just assumed it was lost in the fire with everything else since then
It also goes with my theory that Tobi let Kristie’s family exorcise him from her body and transfer to Katie

I absolutely loved the marked ones as a kid. As a Mexican kid it was honestly awesome to see representation and actually relate to the characters especially the suspicious mother/grandma always makes me laugh.

Honestly i think it makes sense that she didn’t keep him! In this universe Katy is literally a murderer on the run. Supernatural or not she is definitely a wanted criminal. Hunter is a missing child who is definitely being looked for, separating makes it easier for not only her to stay on the run with the likely help if the midwives but hunter would grow up and be in a household with a virgin somewhere so when they need to go get him he will be able to spill the blood of a virgin.

The pool cleaning robot was my favorite character in the series. I was rooting for him the whole time, and then when the camera cuts to him up on the patio, I was fucking PSYCHED
I found it interesting in the 1st movie that Katy is only truly taken over when Micah takes away her crucifix and throws it in the fireplace. The hubris of characters is a primary means of escalation for the demon until about the 3rd movie when they've decided on another path for the story.

Me and my friends just binged movies 1-4 and when we saw Robbie from the 4th movie we instantly loved him. Like the way he stared at the camera with wide eyes, his attempt to shake Wyatt's hand. Little man was tweaked out.
The fact no one knows where he came from and where he went makes him even funnier. Man showed up, introduced Toby, didn't elaborate, and just left.
If the first movie has taught me anything, it's to not leave a foot hanging off the edge of my bed. Or else Toby is dragging my ass out of bed tonight.

I absolutely love this series. I rewatch it most years as part of my spooky month celebrations. The plot is definitely clunky, but the build of the scares throughput and the consistent use of tropes across each movie really makes it worth watching.
Weirdly, 2 is my favourite of the lot, the sense of threat to the family is really well played.
My favourite characters in this series are Arturo and his pal.
Group : "Some crazy people want to do crazy stuff to my bro, like they did to yours."

First time someone actually did something active about this whole mess, sadly gets plot erasure few minutes later.

Why you ask
Well toby was attached more so to Kristi because she was supposed to have a baby boy and toby was going use that boy for a new body which was apart of the pact Lois made with him in exchange for power and wealth.
So after hunter is born activity around the house picks up to the point where the nanny was caught smudging or cleansing the house which resulted in her being fired because daniel didn't want that type of stuff in his house.
But when the activity kept getting worse they called the nanny back and she did this cleansing / removal ritual
Basically she detached toby from Kristi place that attachment on Katie which leads to the events of the first
movie. This only happened after Kristi became partially possessed so yeah

It is a dick move and he admits that it is when the daughter argues with him about it BUT he loves his wife and Katie is the only person it can be transfered to so I get why he did it. One of those decisions that's crappy either way. Also Toby was already bothering katie some before the transfer so yeah he was just taunting them both. It was really just the possession aspect that got transfered.

Another thing that bugs me about this series. The coven is supposed to give you wealth and power in exchange for your firstborn son so why was the witch, Anna, in the marked ones living so poor? She was the main witch who would do the rituals on the boys so she really should have been very very rich. As rich as her pal Lois.
I really like the concept of the black mirrors. It made much more sense to me that the reason Katie screamed for Mika because a stranger was in her house, and the stranger was in her house because he ran through a black mirror and the reason he ran through a black mirror was to escape his friend who was chasing him possessed, which only happened because they fucked with a black mirror waaaaaaay earlier in the movie. Further more, it made the jumps back and forth between time make sense and it gives us a way to speculate how Toby as a demon traveled and how the Midwives could converge en mass at one particular place at one time. It also informs us that Toby can move back and forth through time at will, and that his plans are very well thought out, spanning decades and falling in place like dominoes. Besides that, this was another excellent presentation by the awesome FoundFlix, 10/10 great job explaining :)

I've seen all 6 of the Paranormal Activity series and actually own the dvd's of the first 4, watching them several times over. I love this series and hope there is a 7 installment. You did a good job in telling the story so that anyone unfamiliar can now pick up the last of the series if it ever gets completed.

Definitely an inconsistency, but it can be explained away as people just having unreliable memories. Perhaps her trauma caused her to falsely associate Toby’s pestering of Kristi as her own, as the haunting in the first movie is happening to her. Then consequently, Kristi might have repressed her traumatic memories and doesn’t have any recollection of Toby at all.
Well, as The Horror Geek says, continuity is hard 🤦🏼♂️

I thought i was hallucinating when Paul Blart Mall Cop 2 was on TV. I thought "how could such a failure of a film have a sequel" i looked it up and almost gave up on life when i saw it made a few hundred million at the Box Office. Luckily the sequel wasnt succesful.
So the demon finally got Hunter after all this time and tormenting two sisters, then immediately gave him up for adoption? Why? And then the demon has to cook up this elaborate plan involving Katie and another kid, infiltrating new family, in order to get him back. Again, why? Wouldn't it have just been easier to have Katie raise Hunter, or just to leave Hunter and his birth parents alone until he's old enough to start the ritual? And seriously, it's like the Terminator series, where John Connor was literally THE most important human ever to live, and then, "Nah, never mind, we got someone else." First Katie was the demon's all consuming focus. Then nope, Katie isn't important its Hunter the demon wants! Then rando high school kid, for reasons I still don't understand? Then never mind Hunter isn't all that important, he's just one of many, and it's actually this little girl who's the most important...um, K.
I guess Toby isn't a shining example of mental stability or linear planning.
My guess is we're only seeing one side of the story when we were with Hunter's family.
Toby was after Katie's sister first for the child before he was banished to Katie. He then used Katie to work his way back to Hunter.
The second to last movie shows that Hunter isn't the only kid they want, and given evidence that Katie was experiencing weird things during the second movie at the same time as her sister, Toby doesn't seem to be just locked into one spot, it appears he can effect many but he has a main "focus". So while the whole Hunter situation was going on there was probably a bunch of other families Toby and the coven were messing up. Given how two kids from the second to last movie were possessed.
Katie, her sister and the girl from the latest movie seem to have a special power so are more special to the cult/coven. It wasn't just one kid they needed, but all of them. Given how the coven was working with a while bunch of families and kids, as seen with the second to last movie, seems they needed more than one child to make the ritual work. Or more kids give a higher chance than they'll find the "right" kids and it will succeed.
As for why Hunter was taken from Katie and adopted into a new family, I see it as either involved in some sort of plan to get Toby more power, by killing more families or something, or something went wrong. Maybe Katie got caught or separated from Hunter and he was taken to child services and up for adoption then, putting a bigger hiccup into the coven's plan.
@Makoa The Ancient I feel like the planning only really started after 2. Once 3 starts you can tell there's more at play and that the writers are at least partially dedicated to building a mythos of some sort.
