    clear and correct instructions, did a screwfix click and collect order of the items needed, and had an annoying leaky tap fixed in no time. My first time and I am not particularly good at diy. Really pleased! Many thanks for advice!

    Useful thanks, but note in the UK you must fit a tap with a check valve (as you did). Its in the regulations, otherwise there is a risk that the unsafe water in the hose pipe attached to the tap may be drawn back into the house supply. So spend the extra £2!.

      I think it reduces the water pressure a bit too as a side effect.

      You don't need a washer. Iv'e never used one in 30 years. Just packet out with PTFE tape in the gap between the fitting and the tap. Never known anyone who uses a washer. These pair are clowns.

    You don't need a washer or any sealant. I fitted these taps for 30 years and only ever used PTFE tape. It's all you need if you know what you're doing. If you don't know what you're doing then get someone who does.

    How do you make it straight I tightened up my one it’s halfway it doesn’t go straight I used a spanner it doesn’t work it’s to strong it just won’t be straight

    • @truthseeker7794
      @truthseeker7794 Před 5 měsíci

      You keep packing it with PTFE tape until it tightens at the 11 o clock position and then give it a further tweak by hand until you reach the 1 o clock position. The tape will squash down to a very thin line and the tap will hold. Don't cover all the threads but just the gap between the tape and the fittings. Wrap the tape in an anticlockwise direction looking at it from the front so that it doesn't unravel as you tighten the tap.

    That’s if you can get the 23 year old,old tap off,without fracturing the wall pipe and 2 spanner’s ,plus WD 40.

    • @DanielJohnHowTo
      @DanielJohnHowTo  Před 12 dny +1

      you can try wire brushing and letting it soak, sometimes it's a pain removing old stuff like that from experience.
