When ever i dwell on the topic of slavery, i get very angry. I asked myself this question, if like they say God cursed us "because that's the reason given behind it" why did God curse his people for a simple thing like disobedience and allowed much more vicious things like rapes, tortures, voilent whippings, killings of children, starvations. Seperations from homes and families and so much more, then he allowed it to repeat over and over again but the ones who committed those evils and were given the rights, are they any better than us? I don't believe we were under any curses, there is no justification by God for doing this, even if our Ancestors worshipped other Gods, didn't our oppressors do it too? Who is cursing them? And why would God allow the evil ones to do all of these wickedness and then decides to judge them? I hear people saying they will pay but God allowed them according to the story. Its like me allowing my children to be punished by criminals for not obeying me. It doesn't make sense.

What most people don’t know is that when the enslaved people sang songs they were not just singing to be entertained. Many times they were communicating messages thru those songs in ways that their enslavers didn’t know. For Example: singing about “Jesus coming back to carry me home.” Was not about someone coming out of the sky from Heaven to take us there. It was about the “Good Ship Jesus” carrying us back home. Jesus of Lubeck was built in the early 1500s. At one point a former Naval commander turned Slave trader name John Hawkins was it’s captain.
