I do the horse stance since 1 month now. I went from 1:30 to 5:00.
Maybe it was more easy for me than most people because I really focus on the breathing as I did a lot of meditation, and it really helps.
I do it every morning, excellent way of starting the day.
Now I add up 1 to 5 seconds every day. I did 5:20 today.
My rule is to increase at least 1 second each day, so that there is progress every day.
I advise you to do it every day and with process guys and focus mainly on the breathing and position.
Another secret is to mentally accept the pain and embrace it. But it is hard to explain, you have to feel it.

My 2nd Kung fu teacher kept students in only horse stance for 3-5 years depending on the corrections necessary for each student to perform the stance correctly. This was followed by advanced stance training mostly done with 100% weight in 1 leg. After 3 years could hold indefinitely. My longest was 3 hours at my teachers house. My trick for advancing quickly was to hold horse stance whenever I ate, watched tv or read.

Hung ga kung fu 12th year .Horse is not just a strenth exersise for the legs.It roots and stabilizes u stances , helps u to sink u chi down into u dan tien, roots u into a square structure which is very foundationally stable .Helps u lower half to be like the root of a tree , whilst allowing u top half to bend and sway like a tree in a strong wind .It forces u to engage with pain and learn to cope with it and if u can move low down in horse, coming up a touch and moving quickly in a real encounter is easy .

You have pretty well developed trapezius. Which kind of exercises would you recommend for trapezius?
I imagine handstands is one that build trapezius quite well.

It's not strictly for leg training.

There is no "max" There's only what your mind is telling you to do. If you let your mind control your actions, you won't ever get too far. You HAVE to keep holding it , hold it until you ACTUALLY can't. Keep going until your knees are collapsing . I agree very much with this guy saying "don't think about the pain" i went from 4 minutes to 8 minutes because i learned to not think about the pain, move your mind to something else and even at 5 , 6 minutes i thought the pain wasn't that bad and at 8 minutes , thighs just gave in . So literally just don't think about the pain, i worked my way up to 4 minutes in about 8 months, and as soon as i learned to calm down during pain i went from 4-8 minutes.

This is the similar as a grand plié in ballet, but a grand plié requires a different engagement of core muscles.
Dancing is no joke, as a judoka I went to do some ballet classes and the core and leg workout are seriously hard.

Hello everyone, I have question regarding the mind activity. In the video is mentioned that I should not be thinking about time and how it hurts or when it is gonna end. But what should I do with my mind? I would assume to do some breathing exercise, during exhaling imagine the pain going away. Does anyone have something better or different? Thank you.
