r/Entitledparents I've come across some truly crazy entitled parents on Reddit, but this lady takes the cake. OP is hanging out with his kid at a playground, when an entitled mother comes up to him and DEMANDS that OP hands his loaded gun over to her child. And when OP resists and says that he can't do that, the crazy lady yells at him! WTF!

That dads reaction to the lifeguard SAVING his daughter is utter bs, I drowned in 2nd grade on a field trip and yes a grown man had to save me because not even lifeguards saw me as I was pretty small. Resuscitated me and brought me to my teachers who then told me not to tell my mother (I did tell her) and if it weren't for that man saving me I'd be dead today.

The kid was from our neighboring school and this absolute twit commented on my beasts...I was wearing a dress...sandals and a shall over the dress to cover up. This genius of a teacher I had and her little minions as I called them quarnered me in the schools storage/staff room and tried saying it was MY FAULT and blamed ME for it. My mom absolutely FLIPPED and brought my dad with her. We ended up getting the cops involved..yay trauma!

I live in a tourism oriented town. Our population is 6 times higher during high season so we see a lot of crazy entitled people. Once(that I know of) a woman had to be restrained so the safeward could try to do cpr on her teenage daughter, because he was "RAPING.HER.DAUGHTER.!. " I never heard if she made it.
On a side note, I just remember one time a tourist swam into the blades of a speedboat that was waiting for the clear to approach the beach inside a restricted area 100meters into the sea. She had to jump over a safety net. Lost a leg.

As a child raised in a family that had an abusive father I must say what I did to my mother. I was powerless at 12-16 but not above. Suck it up and divorce that asshole. You are ruining your child's life. I am one of the very very rare people that could grow up very fast and deal with this shit as a kid. I was lucky but was permanently damaged. I have very noticeable ticks and it will stay with me for the rest of my life because of what my father did to us. Don't to that to your kid. Be a mother and protect your child like you should. It's hard but I'd your not tough it will destroy both of you. I never let this happen to anyone around me because of this. I got into a lot of trouble for standing up to friends but all of them was worth it. Still it's not a good thing to have that much police record :/

I remember another story here about a grandma or something who acted indignant and entitled but the OP saw her in the parking lot in her car sulking and asked about it and she was just distressed because she promised her grandson his favorite candy and couldn't get the one she knew existed because they only had it as a seasonal item, or something.
There's two kinds of entitled people, really. There's the despicable, wretched, and irredeemable heaps of biomatter who do things like abuse their children or try to steal from people or try to ruin people's lives to get what they want. (the *really* infuriating stories) *You know the ones.*
And then there's the people who had an environment growing up that didn't teach them how to bloody function as people, but if you can *somehow* get past their insanely tall pride walls are still *people*, just basically overgrown children who throw tantrums when they don't get what they want because they never outgrew that phase, and who are *convinced* that's what an adult is, probably because they either had no role models or their role models were equally as bad.
Granted, it excuses nothing, and if they're going to pretend they're adults they need to be held accountable for their own actions *like* adults, but it is rather pitiful seeing someone wedged into such a pathetic mindset with little hope of seeing the light of day. That's why I always feel really bad for the children in these stories, like that little girl in the phone story, because a lot of them will probably turn out the same way and there's really not much anyone can do to help them.
I really wish we lived in a world where people would be more freaking responsible for the futures of the people around them, but "community" is dead and apparently it's a "crime" to even remotely try to get involved with somebody else's life, let alone their children, *even to save their goddamn life,* as multiple stories have proven. It's to a point it's so irrational I do not understand the conditions that have allowed these insane mindsets to come into existence, maybe somebody can enlighten me on that one.

Alcohol isn't the problem. If you start drinking consistently and become an alcoholic it's your own fault. YOU chose to drink at some party. YOU chose to go to the store for a vodka or smt else ( I don't count beers ) It's your decision to drink. Swearing to never drink is just saying that you don't understand all of this that I just mentioned.

@@Chase_-yt5xy or, it's being responsible, knowing that an *addiction* to a *literal drug* is possible and has ruined their family. You can absolutely responsibly drink if you know yourself to be capable of handling it and not drinking too often. You can also be responsible by *not* drinking *at ALL* because you know you *_cannot_* restrain yourself when you stop. Everybody has different limits, and everybody has different things they need to do.
Regardless, alcohol is definitely a problem itself--it's a literal drug that is so normalized that people often turn "drinks often" into a personality trait rather than a point at an addiction.

Not all of 'em are like this, but I think there's probably signs that someone who can stay level-headed can pick up on. Most of those people are just incorrigibly self-righteous and entitled (as is the name) but sometimes aggressive attempts at manipulation is what people turn to when they feel something about their life being threatened, because they likely didn't have a good example of how to cope in their own early life. It's that whole vicious cycle deal. I've seen a very small handful of stories like this and all the cases where they back down and turn back into normal people tend to be because the OP manages to get the context out of them, which gives them the actual resources to show them that they were just overreacting and it's not a big deal.
But my god does it take the patience of a saint to give someone a chance like that when they hurl abuse at you. I know I wouldn't be able to lol.
I have to wonder how this kind of behavior developed in people in the first place, because it's so counter-intuitive to all positive behavioral logic.

It was close to closing time and I went to a small stall that sold baked stuff. They had two pizza pieces they usually sell for 2€, but were on discount for half the price. I wanted to buy one and the seller suggested I buy both so he can close up. This guy said "it's not loaded" pointed the .50 desert eagle towards the target not expecting it to fire, pulled the trigger and bam, was suprised when the bullet was fired and had to step back because of the recoil, and finally learned that just because the magazine wasn't in the gun doesn't mean that the chamber is empty. Luckily never saw him again on the range

Honestly, that last story was enlightening. This was a woman who was just genuinely worried about her then "barely old enough to be considered an adult by society" son, and because he had a safe space where he likely talked about his worries, his mother got in on the picture to help keep him away from the abusive drunk dad and give him a place to stay whenever he happened to get kicked out. It shows that a little understanding can go a LONG way if everyone can listen a little bit.
Not that most entitled parents or entitled people listen, because... Entitlement. But it's nice to see that not all entitled parents/people are the same and some CAN be talked to in a sensible manner.

  • @lelamartin6678

OP in the second story should have called CPS and police on the entitled mother for endangering the child. There's so much that could have gone wrong, and the mother is beyond words if she thinks a real "unloaded" gun is "harmless."
Also, as a former lifeguard, lifeguards are saved by something called the "Good Samaritan" rule, and the father needed CPS called on him for something like that. The fact that he would have preferred the lifeguard fired than his daughter safe just proves that not everyone deserves a child.

You are nailing that EM impression.
Also, what kind if harm would a child cause when he plays with a real unloaded gun you might ask?
Incase it's not already obvious, teens with airsoft guns in public have actually been shot at by the police because they thought it was real. Not saying they would open fire at the kid, but they would still try to stop the kid and ask who gave it to him, and whoever that may be would be would have to go behind bars. not only this, but the kid could be suspended, or even banned from the school he is enrolled in.
So to answer your question, a lot of damage can be caused, believe me, I've had my fair share of similar events like this, but that's a story for another day.

I know, the mother that turned out to begin the argument acting like she was entitled, and wanted her son to spend time with her, was actually just scared herself at times of the husband/father figure in their house, was just scared for her own saftey and wishes she had her son home sometimes to comfort her and to be there to talk with her. Hopefully the person who wrote the reddit would maybe consider taking that woman in as well getting the mother and son permanently away from that abusive drunk father/husband, that is not the way ANYONE should be living, afraid in their own home and scared for their saftey from a drunken bastard, no offense.

Stuff that can't be reused at the end of the day is often given away to whoever the lucky last customer is and it's also not uncommon that if someone asks do you have any leftovers? just to give them a few.

One of the first lesson I learned in Boy Scouts before they let me on the rifle range is that you always treat a fire arm as if it is loaded, even if you think/know it is unloaded, guns are tools not toys and are to be treated with extreme, it only takes one mistake to permanently change someone's life.
