Yes please to more race reports. I know that Garmin, err, watches in general pay the bills, but this is the content I sub for.
A regular dude doing hard things.
Thanks! More to come!
Same... Love the running vids!
It was nice to meet you at the race. Tim, the 72 yr old man was a stud. Nice video! Phil
You too! Tim was a beast! He was yelling at me during the road stretch in “don’t let this old man pass you!”
It's really encouraging to hear and the see the comments about Tim, the 72 year old. None of us are getting any younger and the thought crosses your mind "when will I be too old to do this". To hear about a 72 year old running at your pace, even if it wasn't your best possible, is uplifting. My takeaway is that if your health holds up, you can basically run until your time on Earth is over.
I was shocked when I saw 72 on the results page. I talked to him at the finish line and he did not look that old. Really impressive… I wish I asked for his secret to staying young.
I'd love to see you do races or runnings beside tech reviewing! I hope we will have more videos like this one!
I'm laughing out loud about the title. 😆 "Are you a friend of Ryan?" It just keeps getting better. Thanks for posting this one!
Ha! She was actually part of Goldwin's PR team asking "Any sight of Ryan?" but I did meet plenty of Ryan and Jeff fans!
Likely story 🤔@@ChaseTheSummit
A college teammate of mine grew up in Marin, I went with him to Marin on Thanksgiving break. I was like “oh my goodness” I thought I grew up in a pretty part of the state, this is next level.
Great job in the race, coming in cold, and I did enjoy this video post.
I know right? Beautiful area. Locals are lucky to live there!
My legs are cramping just watching the video 😂
Congratulation! Great job!
You did amazing, congrats!
Love these trail run videos. Keep them coming!
Great video on an amazing race. So good to see you out there.
Nice work Dave. Congrats on getting that done. Scenery looks absolutely amazing. Beautiful over there.
So much greener in CA vs CO right now! What a fun trail race in a beautiful area! Love the mason jar. Great job out there!!!
The locals were telling me the Green season doesn't last very long. In a couple of weeks all of these hills will look brown and dead as the summer heat creeps in. San Fran has been getting a TON of rain lately so everything is very lush right now. We got lucky with the weather!
Such a fun race … killer video 🤙
Congrats! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks!
This is so awesome!!
Looks like a great race, and really similar to the Golden Gate Trail Classic. Beautiful views everywhere you look! Nice job on the race!
Yes! I've heard about the Golden Gate race. Looks super cool. There's also the 50 mile North Face Endurance race that's right down the street as well!
That’s me in the blue shirt over your left shoulder at 8:17. I was one of the Chicken Shack aid station volunteers. Great video, glad you enjoyed the event. I ran the 28k the next day and was similarly cooked by the sun. 😂
Thanks for being out there! Congrats on the 28k!
Proud of you bro!
Great run Dave- awesome video, thank you!
Thanks!
Nice video and amazing views
That looked like so much fun! Some of those descents were insane.
Great job!
Tons of fun! Lots of hills!
Yes for more race or running videos! I’ll add this one to my list for next year. It’s always nice to head somewhere warm when Boston is still freezing in Feb (not that this year has been that bad)
It’s a good one! Though I do think we lucked out on weather. The week leading up to the race the forecast was nasty! In fact there was a “inclement weather” gear list that we all had to pack. Fortunately things turned around and the day was perfect! Great race though!
That's purdy country alright. Rolling hills and some sweet gear taboot. Nice work beating that 72 year old!
That 72 year old was a BEAST! I hope I can still run like that at that age!
Hi. Fab video. Your sports tec reviewers supper power is definitely these videos and the fact you do these megga runs.
Thanks!
Nice video Dave! I liked this format in particular because I am considering running something longer than a marathon. Additionally, I appreciate the honesty in how you are feeling and the events leading up to the race. Keep up the great work!
Thanks!
Mario trails are so nice. I ran a 50k there in late July. Lots of vert, great views
Soooo nice!
Amazing Dave, the views were amazing, you looked like you felt good after the race,if anything Dave, you got a lot of fresh air
Yeah the upside was I wasn’t wrecked and able to walk through the airport to get home 😂
Excellent video 💯💯💯
More run videos please 😊
More to come !
@@ChaseTheSummit awesome. Merci Dave ✔️💯🍀
Well done 👏
Thanks!
As a father of two, I definitely understand the struggle to maintain fitness through the winter. Good job Dave! I enjoyed the video. If you haven’t done it already, you should consider doing the Pikes Peak Marathon this year. I hear it’s one of the toughest marathons out there. I plan to do it so fingers crossed I can train properly!
For sure! As I creep closer to 40 the base fitness is tougher to hang onto during the winter months. Keep it up!
Great Job, Wonderful views.
Thanks!
Great video. Nice to see MA represented. You running the Mt Washington road race this year?
Thanks! I won't be at the road race unfortunately! That's a tough one to get in to!
You had me at "I should have trained for this!" 😂 As well as wearing all brand new gear. 😅 Congratulations on the finish! As a fellow New Englander, 72° would have flattened me in Feb. Those steep downhills were brutal looking, but what a gorgeous course! I loved the video, very cool format.
Ha! Gotta find those click titles! 72 did feel quite warm! Thanks for watching.
Great Video as usual. What is your normal training look like? I know primary trail running, but do you do strength training, HITT, heart rate based? Great video and love these types of videos to see the races that are out there and want to put on my bucket lists! Cheers!
When I’m not training for anything in particular it’s usually pretty chill 20-30 miles per week. I do some strength but not enough to be honest. Mainly body weight stuff.
Dude you did awesome!
Thanks!
Got my first ever 50k planned for November this year. It's in Scotland, in the winter. The weather will be very different to what you had in Cali that's for sure 😂
Awesome! Good luck!
DAVE! You did fantastic. And also at mile 9.5 you were literally a quarter mile from my house.
Really? I wish I had known! Would have been nice to say hi! You live in a beautiful area.
I don’t have any interest in the Alta race but you did a great job keeping me captivated throughout. Great video!
Glad you liked it!
Seeing you and Ryan together reminds me of the old days when we would all get together on Sunday afternoons and enjoy the buckle cam
Ohhh the good ole' Days! It was great to catch up with Ryan and meet Jeff. Looking forward to seeing their (much higher quality) videos of this race!
Congrats !! How do you like the camera ?
It’s great!
This is on my list for next year! I am based in Boston as well, given that you know the course now, what trails would you train for this on in the Boston area?
Hilly Fireroads. Maybe the orange loop at the Middlesex fells or wachussett mountain autoroad to name a couple. The course felt similar in terrain and grade to the Vermont 100 course… just shorter.
Congrats!
This past weekend i "completed" the monument valley 50k. The altitude was a disaster for me. How do you prepare for high altitude races?
There were high winds in the second third of the race. It seemed like a sandstorm, tumbleweed flying over our heads and all
Thanks! Fortunately I haven't raced at high altitudes above 9-10K feet. I'm sure it would be a problem for me as I live close to sea level. Can't really help from that standpoint. When it comes to winds I like to carry a super thin/light packable wind shell for those situations.
Hi Chase, thanks a lot for the video.. I also watched your 100k video with the 955 and I have a question: what do you mean with "Turning off and on the navigation when you need?" I usually have navigation set up as a data field page on my activity. Do you access navigation in on other way? thanks
I just meant to scroll away from the map page when you're not using it.
@@ChaseTheSummitthat simple! Thanks chase
Great job! What watch did you use for this race?
Forerunner 965!
@@ChaseTheSummit Very cool!
Well done. What watch was on your wrist, the 965?
The 965!
Never ran over 10k in my life and zero interest in doing a ultra race… but still love watching these videos. 😅👍🏼
Thanks!
February.. come to Canada lol. 😂
Interested in a a trail running vest, but $210 seems crazy
It’s not cheap for sure. Then again Salomon pricing is pretty close.
Goldwin & Speedland made for the 1%!
Hah, yeah they’re certainly not the budget option. I had a chance to try on some Speedlands and they fit my feet quite good. Now I just need to stomach the price!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😀
Way to keep up with those 72 year-olds Dave! You really earned that Mason jar. 🙂
Ha! That 72 year old was a BEAST! I hope I can run like that at that age!
$130 for a T-shirt! Yes, Goldwin is a premium brand.
For sure, not cheap! But the stuff is pretty darn nice.
chasethesummit and ryanclayton❤❤
And Jeff Pelletier! It was great to be around great people!
