I have been waiting for a review of this ring...you and the Quantified Scientist are the two I trust (and watch) the most. So glad I'm getting a review from you :)
It seems very similar in terms of sleep tracking to Oura. In fact the numbers are almost identical every day. Unfortunately I don't have a scientific way to test that and even the most scientific measurement devices are only around 75-80% accurate so anything you find on CZcams likely won't tell the whole story.
Picked one of these up. Great addition to when I want to wear a real watch instaded of my Amazfit smart watch. Also allows me to still track when I wear my galaxy watch or one plus watch. I think Amazfit ad better health tracking than the lat 2 mentioned. This is a competitive advantage for them (watch and ring)
Not sure I'd buy Amazfit ever again. Have the revolutionary Amazfit x smart band I've been wearing daily for years, but no support as it's battery is wearing out. Asked the manufacturer for a new one I'd happily purchase again today, but nothing available. Have the Gen1 Ringconn that's been great and just preordered the Gen2. Thanks for a nice review.
I am currently looking at the Ringconn Gen 2 which will launch next month. In the video you mention that you own and use an Oura Ring or an Ultrahuman ring as a companion to your Garmin. What’s your usage and how you combine your data?
So maybe I can use this through day and night and wear some standard watch during day. And have my Cheetah Pro only for sports tracking. Interesting. I will think about it.
i m beta tester for UltraHuman ring and RingConn , i drop oura ring 3 becoz of subscription ... Smart ring will be 2024 trend , Samsung ring also coming too., think that pair with samsung watch as Amazfit did ( amazfit watch + Helio) very good review Indeed!!!!
@@ChaseTheSummit we're on the same page... only Garmin non-screen device now that can record basic sleep, heart, step, etc. is the HRM Pro. But wearing a heart strap to allow a mechanical watch on my wrist is just inconvenient...
Hi! I want to buy a smart ring, initially I thought of circular but I saw your review about Oura ring that it has monthly subscription that made me feel off. Now I am thinking about ultrahuman or amazfit. Please let me know if it is worth every penny. Thank you.
Hope Apple will come out with one so I can get out of Garmin. I still like AW’s smart functionality but it’s a hassle to track my sleep since that means I would need to find time during the day to charge it. If Apple comes out with smart ring I can just throw the AW onto the charger when I go to bed. P.s. I have tried Ouraring but it’s just not a seamless integration with apple health and fitness, not to mention a separate subscription.
Thank you for the great review. I don't have a ring and run by HR with a very basic garmin watch and chest strap. If I want a ring to simply tell me how ready I am for the next workout or to rest or have an easy day what would you recommend please?
Does this have a vibrating alarm that i can set on the zepp app? That's all I'm looking for in a ring as I don't want to wake up my partner but hate wearing a smart watch to sleep
Hey, what do you think about sleep score accuracy? You mentioned several times that Amazfit watches tends to score a little bit higher than garmin, is this better with this ring? And what about resting heart rate accuracy?
It seems like they’ve updated their algorithm with sleep score and readiness and it’s much more in line with Oura, and even Garmin’s Body Battery / Sleep Score.
Thanks, and maybe I have another question, if you wear ring and Amazfit watch both to bed for sleep, i understand that in the app the data will fuse, but what will happened in the watch? Will it change there according to app or will it stay the same? Thank you!
@@ChaseTheSummitwatching this video again after seeing the really good bundle prices £350 for the Helio ring and Balance watch finally making it to UK market!! 🤓
We all have different baselines higher isn't necessarily better for everyone. For me, after a well rested night of sleep I can see 60-70. So when I see 40-50 it typically means I'm overtrained, getting sick, or drank some beer the night before!
The real advantage is for people who don’t always want to wear a watch. Some people struggle to wear something on their wrist while sleeping and that’s where these rings are useful.
I don't have any smartwatch, and I am not looking for one. I want something to track my sleep and HR (I cant sleep with a watch too bulky for me). I am also a cyclist, could it replace my heart monitor and be connected to Wahoo/Garmin/Hammerhead? so I can see my HR while cycling?
Currently it can only act as a sensor within the Zepp app and isn’t recognized as a sensor by other devices or apps. Kind of a bummer, that would be cool and it seems like something they could enable in software… I’ll ask!
amazfit needs to get it's act together, training load and PAI seem to be virtually the same thing, yet it's being reported in two different ways PAI is by far the easiest to understand
I think PAI takes all activity including steps into consideration while training load only takes recorded activities like runs or rides into consideration.
@@ChaseTheSummit yeah, i think your right, but that seems more like a marketing ploy to me, in practice you'd score virtually nothing unless you were deliberately exercising, but i like PAI because it seems to be razor focused on the WHO exercise recommendations, whereas it's difficult to relate training load to them having said all that, i'm reasonably fit, so maybe doing the dishes etc does score highly for unfit people !
Honestly, I don't understand why people need to know their sleeping cycles...dude just go to bed and sleep well..We have so many stresses in the world, why did you take on even more stress by learning about sleeping cycles?. We can't make calls with Ring or receive important notifications on our wrists only.. In my opinion, it doesn't replace the smart watch because it doesn't give a notification when your heart rate increases, and we need a phone to use a ring.
The real advantage is for people who don’t always want to wear a watch. Some people struggle to wear something on their wrist while sleeping and that’s where these rings are useful.
And people wonder why Amazon are taking over. It sounds like this is close to as good as other devices, works well with other things in the eco system, provides some stats which other devices don’t, the price is decent and there is no freaking subscription. And this is today. They will probably iterate this faster than most others. As a Garmin user, I don’t want Amazon to win, but I do want Garmin to get their $hit together and innovate/iterate more quickly. A Garmin ring is a no brainer, as others have said. More rapid product innovation cycles in their watches would be good, and some more reasonably pricing would be welcome. Personally I’m not buying this Amazon gear at this point, but for more price conscious users it seems like a good option and I’m sure they will improve these things at pace. So for me the challenge goes out to the incumbent fitness brands - up your game, or Amazon will probably eat your breakfast, lunch and dinner. And quickly.
To clarify, Amazfit has no affiliation with Amazon other than a very similar sounding name. They’re owned by Zepp Health which is a larger corporation.

I want a Garmin ring as a companion to my Fenix 7 so that I can get sleep stats since I don't like sleeping with my watch.

I wanna wear from time to time my mechanical watches, but still keep my step, sleep, etc. Stats

why even need it for something that's faaaaar from being accurate.
unless you just track the hours of sleep
Same, I also own some nice analogue watches which I'd like to wear while still tracking my data. 👍🏻
Same!

If this has better sleep stage tracking than Oura or Whoop then it's a tempting option. Need to wait for more in-depth review.

Great use case!
Nice. Looks decent. I had hoped it would be cheaper given it's amazfit, but hey, don't _have_ to buy ir afterall.
Amazing, that all that tech fits into that little ring (and I bet they get smaller in the future)

I wear a size 11 Oura Ring. Do you know if a 10 would work on my finger? Meaning, is it a little smaller than Oura?
Thank you for the great review. I don't have a ring and run by HR with a very basic garmin watch and chest strap. If I want a ring to simply tell me how ready I am for the next workout or to rest or have an easy day what would you recommend please?
It would certainly do that job.
Another great review, thank you.
Do you know any ring that may give reliable sugar levels?
As far as I know, there is no way to reliably measure the sugar level with optical sensors, yet. Science is on it, though.
Without penetrating the skin I’m not sure any wearable will be able to do that accurately.
I was quite attracted to the Amazfit ring, but if they can't be bothered to make an average women's size, then they're not the company for me.
Does it provide a nightly HRV graph or is it like Suunto / Fitbit which only show the avg. numbers?
There’s a graph along with averages
They still don’t have a lot of sizes. If I am 11 in Oura will a 10 fit? Have you noticed if it runs smaller than an Oura?
They run very similar. I would wait.

Why would someone buy a subscription based ring now?!? This will no doubt dump in price soon and ill definitely be picking one up. 👍🏻
Mainly because Oura is such a known brand and widely available in stores like Best Buy. But I think it’s only a matter of time now.

I am concern of the app. The last time I used the app was amazfit bip era. It was bad. Not sure whether it has improved?
It’s gotten MUCH better since then. In fact it’s quite good now.
I have never really got the rings, cant see the point unless it delivers something over and above the watch. Seems like a fairly niche segment

Could be nice to replace my Huawei Band 6, but it's about 10 times the price ‼ Maybe the index finger is not the best to wear this ring.
Amazfit suggests wearing it on the index finger for the best accuracy. This is the same for other rings out there as well like Oura and Ultrahuman.
