These boys are so sweet and respectful. Conchita is a drag queen, so "he" is fine, as is "she". Drag is a performance art, very separate from trans (though sometimes trans men and indeed trans women do drag). Most drag queens are cis gay men.
A Phoenix is a mythological bird that rises from the ashes. So it is a meaningful song. This song won the Eurovision Song Contest that year.
The singer is a male...simply wearing a wig, dress and make-up...that anyone can buy...but the voice is pure talent. Give that powerful voice a great song with powerful lyrics and maximize the production...and the result is the 'win' on so many levels. The singer (stage name Conchita) was the perfect choice.

Thomas Neuwith identifies as a gay man but Conchita is his stage persona. This was one of your best reactions. I hope you do more Eurovision.

not transgener just drag kind of, he was on this morning with phillip and holly after the win and said he was sick of shaving to do his drag so decided to just let the beard grow. fair play tho, hes a amazing singer, thats why i chose him for you to react to. he has beautiful eyes too, really pulls off dressing like a woman. this song gives me james bond theme vibes.
Nice reaction and you two are great! :) Regarding the singer, he's called Thomas and just enjoys exploring his feminine side. I always found it a bit sad that boys and men are socially not "allowed" to wear clothes and dresses. It's such a beautiful thing and so comfortable, especially in the summer. I agree with you, everyone should do what they like, if they don't harm anyone. And I love Eurovision so much, I always wanted to be in the audience, but it's usually so far away. The contest is always held in the country of the last year's winner.

Ohh bless you both for trying to understand who you are watching. Conchita's a drag act, performed by a gay man, but it's totally cool with her to refer to her with both female, male & non-descript pronouns (Conchita & Tom are not bothered by such things, which I think is a good lesson for everyone). Tom started performing as Conchita for two reasons, because they found it very difficult to carve out a career as a pop-star as an effeminate gay man, & he recognised that performing as her ("Conchita") with their enormous voice, stunning figure & handsome, yet very feminine, bearded, face, challenged people's perceptions of gender stereotypes.x

Just small info...Conchita is part of the LGBT community...she has stated that he is not a trans woman . He is gay , and has also described himself as a drag queen . He uses she/her pronouns to describe his Conchita Wurst character , but he/him pronouns when referring to himself

Conchita was his stage figure. And already the stage name is a special sign. Conchita Wurst could also be a normal name but in this case: Conchita is for some people the nick name for the (I dont now how directly I may be) female sexual organ. And the german/austrian word Wurst (sausage) is for some people the nick name of the male sexual organ. And because he was both on stage a perfect symbiose.

Hi, guys! At 72 your style is a bit too hectic for me, but yes, Tom/Conchita deserves a lot of praise. But, maybe Americans don't know that there was a political background to Conchita's win: Russia was putting gay people into jail, Turkey refused to participate in the contest, as long as Conchita would appear, and several Eastern-European countries objected as well ... So, though many people like him and his song, the vote for winner from the audience was political as well. Including me! Btw.: I always liked Tom's style of clothes - he/she has also proven very intelligent in interviews.
